"Twins have a special bond. They feel safer with each other than with their peers."

Welcome back, everyone, to another installment of Endark (yours truly) playing Fire Emblem: Awakening! Previously, after a very lengthy hiatus, we had taken a trip to The Twin’s Hideout to recruit a red-haired trickster. Today's installment title is a quote attributed to Jeanne Phillips, and speaking of twins, I've decided to explore The Twins' Turf next. Let’s see if Vincent’s brother succeeds at getting revenge as we fight some foes that, honestly, might be weaklings in comparison to our current army…

PARALOGUE 2: THE SECRET SELLER

So, Chrom comes across some Merchants patching up some soldiers that had battled some bandits. As the bandits are blocking trade and demanding a ton of cash, it’s up to the Shepherds to secure things. We’re then taken to a battlefield, split into a few different sections because of a large river. To the south is our boss, to the north is a merchant, and various enemies are scattered in-between…

ANNA (who looks remarkably similar to our own Anna): A world-travelling merchant who loves money and big spenders.

VICTOR (our 2nd twin): A ruffian boss who is eerily fond of his twin brother, Vincent.

Deciding to bring along our own Anna for fun, I organize our forces, and prepare to march. For the record, our Anna is the sister of the NPC Anna on the map, which we’re supposed to learn later. It doesn’t stop Victor from demanding both money for Vincent’s grave, and the poor girl’s life. We need to get to her village fast, which is a bit problematic when you start in a forest that diminishes movement…unless you have a Pegasus Knight, of course. Here’s how it all went down…

  • Yukari & Anna: Headed north to deal with the Ruffian problem closest to our main force. They picked up a sparkly spot in the process, earning some extra experience. It took a few turns, and they ended up far behind the rest in terms of distance, but Yukari gained levels and learned Ignis in the proccess.
  • Libra & Cordelia: Headed straight to the west, across the river, to deal with a mage in one shot. One enemy attacked them in the first turn, while the rest moved past to head towards the other Anna’s village. Next, they headed straight north, and then northeast so Libra could help Different Anna take care of some archers. They successfully reached the village on Turn 4, receiving a Physic staff and making sure that it wouldn’t get burned down any time soon. Following that, they also got the last kill of the map a few turns later, dealing with a Barbarian in the far corner that hadn’t contributed anything.
  • Donnel & Maribelle: Were the first to attack the foes blocking the first bridge, thanks to Maribelle starting at the edge of the forest, and helping Donny move into position. Donnel then moved across the bridge and dealt with a slow enemy that had bypassed Cordelia earlier. They then headed towards the village as well, picking up a Leif’s Blade in a sparkly spot along the way, and also killing an archer.
  • Lon’qu & Gregor, Chrom & Gaius: Both pairs followed behind Donnel at first, picking off an enemy or two that Donnel was too slow to kill in a single round of combat. They then headed south towards the boss. The clump of enemies down there all prioritized Gaius, including our “born a Victor, and victory will be his” boss. Gaius either counter-killed or directly-killed the lot, save for an archer Lon’qu sliced from the face of the planet.
  • Different Anna: Dodged a fair bit, and killed about four units over four turns, by which point we’d saved the village and the enemies weren’t headed towards it anymore. A level 1 Trickster versus level 6 Barbarians and Archers…they really didn’t stand a chance.
    • Turns: 6
    • Heroes: Chrom & Gaius (who dealt with the boss, sure, but I’d say that Cordelia was more valued)

Victor: I…I see an open field Vincent…Such beautiful flowers…

Following the battle, Different Anna lets us know of the ‘strong family resemblance’ between her and her other traveling merchant sisters. Apparently, how to tell them all apart is a family secret (and is probably what the Paralogue’s title of The Secret Seller refers to). Following that short battle, we have a few supports to add to the list:

  • Yukari & Anna (C-Rank)
  • Cordelia & Libra (S-Rank)
  • Kellam & Tharja (B-Rank) (after they chatted in the Barracks)

And so ends a battle that, really, didn’t pose the slightest challenge at this point. Next time, who knows? I certainly haven’t got a plan set in stone, though there’s another Paralogue we never dealt with, as well as a Mad King that is quite overdue on getting what he deserves…regardless, have a nice day!
