Taking her first steps into Pewter, Scarlet was amazed by the size of the town. Coming from such a small place as Pallet, Scalet was amazed. The place had more than five buildings!
First things first though, she headed to the Pokedex, boxing Banana, and healing up the rest of her pokemon. She headed to the mart and picked up some more pokeballs, restocking up to five. She headed east from the city ready to catch some more Pokemon for the Dex. This stuff was easy. She hasn't even been attacked by some weird creature once!
Suddenly, as she headed out of the city, she was approached by a small boy of her own age.
Kid: Hey, you! You look like a trainer! Have you challenged Brock yet? You haven't? You totally should.
Scarlet was just about to ask the boy how he knew this, when he grabbed her hand and started dragging her over to the gym. As he dragged her, he started telling her about his life, further stopping her from talking.
Kid: So I guess this whole, semi-assault thing started when Brock started paying me to get people to come to the gym. I could smell that getting a job so early would be a good opportunity. I could tell, cause my dads a Pokemart salesman. Oh, look we're here!
He walked off, interrupting her attempt at a goodbye with a "yeah, see ya", before she even said it, which Scarlet found oddly familiar. She put it aside for now, and walked into the gym. There was a weird man hiding behind a statue, who poked out at her.
Creepy Dude: Pssssst... Hey, kid, you looking for some... "tips"? I got some right here...
Scarlet looked towards the man, and nodded enthusiastically. She couldn't wait to get ahead in the gym, by this definitely non-shifty man.
Creepy Dude: Excelllllent... I'm Kaleb Reep. Ok... so if you wanna beat Brock, you're gonna need guts, you're gonna need strength. You're gonna need water or grass types.
Scarlet sent out Blasty. He hadn't got much use in the forest, so it would be good for him to finally get a run out.
Kaleb: Gooood, gooood... Good luck that is... Kehehehhehe...
Pleased with the altogether trust worthy mans advice, Scarlet walked forward, with Blasty at her side. She easily took out Brocks subordinate, who seemed to have excellent knowledge of space terms for a camper.
Camper: Lightyears!!!! Booyah!!
Confused with the boys... odd outburst, Scarlet headed on, running up to Brock.
Brock: hello challenger. i am brock. i am leader here. now we have good fight. but brock no lose. brock strongest!
Scarlet V.S Brock! Gym Battle!
Scarlet started with Blasty, Brock with a Geodude. She took Kalebs advice that had worked for her on the camper. It worked on Brock too, and thanks to lucky critical, managed to one hit all of Brocks 'mons.
Brock: congrats. you strong trainer. take stuff!

Brock: that shiny thing is fun to look at! brock have lots, so you take one. tm is rock tomb. is strong, so you use. also, now you can use flash. is useless! now go challenge mermaid lady! brock must go practice singing to puppies.
Scarlet left the gym, wondering who Mermaid Lady was, but was distracted by the fact that she had more to her quest then just pokedex filling now.
Professor Oak would not be happy.
