As the Trollocs approach, Perrin goes around giving orders to everyone. The Whitecloaks are preparing to leave, but Perrin shames them into staying. During the battle, just about everyone gets some good face time, but the unending Zerg Rush keeps pushing them back. But then Faile (yes, this is awesome enough that I’ll use the name just this once) comes as the Big Damn Heroes with the people of Watch Hill, along with the ones from Deven’s Ride who had sent that messenger.
Perrin’s reunion with her truly does count as a Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming, and then the Whitecloaks try to spoil it. But Perrin does some Loophole Abuse, refusing to go with them as they hadn’t helped in the battle as agreed. Everyone goes for their bows and kicks them out, while Fain watches. This was all his plan to get to Rand, and now he prepares a new one, heading to Tar Valon by way of Caemlyn.
Like the Tanchico climax, it’s pointless to list individual Crowning Moments Of Awesome here since the chapter is packed with them. This time even more, since there’s so many characters to spread them out between. These stories may have been unbearably slow to start with, but I certainly can’t argue with how they end up.
