The chapter’s first half is a montage of three days where nothing much happens, and is as dull as it sounds. Luckily, things then pick up considerably when Selene comes into Rand’s room, and reveals herself as Lanfear. What a shock. She offers to let him join her, and learn better swordfighting from a Forsaken named Asmodean, but he tells her off, as well as killing a Gray Man that another of the Forsaken sent.
Despite the Lanfear reveal being extremely predictable, their confrontation is quite suspenseful as we know Rand won’t take the offer, but then the question becomes how Lanfear will react to that. And we end on the hint of an Enemy Civil War between the Forsaken that want Rand to join them and the ones that just want to kill him. And the boring first half at least has a mention of the Seanchan to remind us this isn’t all that’s going on.
