Final Chapter: One last barbecue before winter is here (Light)

Final Chapter:

We were about to enter the temple for the final showdown when Athos appeared before us again. He brought back the Armads and Durandal weapons, which were infused with light power so that they'd be effective against Nergal. He also brought the Aureola tome and the Sol Katti blade for Lyn. Nils mentioned that he could sense Nergal's power, and he wasn't alone. Most of his minions were killed, but he still had a few more tricks up his sleeve. There was nothing more to do but prepare for the last showdown. Everyone that was going to participate got the best weapons we had available, and Lucius and Hector accepted both of the Divine Weapons that they could equip. The Durandal and Sol Katti were entrusted to Renault, who will stay out of this fight. If things get messy, Athos plans to warp Lyn and Eliwood out of the area so they can escape and possibly try again in the future. I planned to end it here and now though; who knows when we'll get another chance like this.

Merlinus was also told to stay behind on Fargus's ship, since we would have little need of his services if we succeeded, and it won't matter if we failed. If things got too hairy, he could go back to Ostia and start up his business endeavors there with his ties to Eliwood and Hector.

Hector and Nergal found themselves face to face. Nergal taunted Hector about how all of the deaths that he's caused mean nothing to him. After that, he summoned his final morphs, which were made to look like some of our old foes, and suggested that he could even make a morph of Hector's brother. After Athos got into the argument, Nergal snapped, showing off an old wound of when Athos turned against him. He ran off and hid behind doors and morphs. Everyone that was left got behind Hector, and the final battle began.

Hector: Hector started off by fighting the archers in the first room. After that, he was tasked with defeating the morph of Marquess Laus, who dropped a powerful spear.

Kent: Surprisingly, Kent didn't have too many things to do. He did help to defeat Lloyd Reed's morph

Dart: Dart's powerful axe was enough to defeat the Morph form of Uhai. After that, he fought axe to axe with a morph that we later learned was mimicking Brendan Reed, the former leader of the Black Fang. He gained a very powerful axe from that battle.

Fiora: Fiora, who was holding a Door Key, opened up the doorway to the left of where we began, uncovering the morph form of 2 of the Black Fang assassins. From there, she went after the morph of Kenneth, the Bishop we fought a good while ago. After that, he defeated Linus's stubborn morph, paving the way to Nergal.

Serra: Serra was too weak to fight, but she helped everyone stay refreshed with her healing staves.

Lucius: Lucius attacked the archer foes that came out of the first doorway. After that, he helped Kent and Athos take on Lloyd Reed's morph. He had to fend off Linus's morph after that, but he managed to make it to the end.

Hawkeye: With his Brave Axe, Hawkeye was able to strike down Ursula in the room that Fiora opened up. He was quickly attacked by an Assassin that had a magical sword, but he was able to recover from the assault and defeat that man as well.

Athos: Despite his extreme age, Athos showed us first hand how he became known as one of the great heroes of the Scouring. He helped Hawkeye take down some weird assassin morph that was with Ursula. Later, he assisted Lucius and Kent in fighting Lloyd Reed's morph.

Nils: He stayed by Eliwood, using his prophetic sight to see where the morphs were going to come from next.

Eliwood: He stayed out of the final fight, never needing to use his sword.

Lyn: Before things got too serious, Lyn asked Eliwood if what Nergal said about Lord Uther being dead was true. Eliwood had apparently grilled Oswin about this when he saw Hector acting weirdly. Lyn was pretty shocked about the whole thing being kept quiet.

Jaffar: Jaffar's main job was to protect Nils and the weaker lords from too much harm. He was quick, so he could distract or carry those guys to safety. This was needed once, when a Mage with bolting threatened to strike down Nils. Jaffar shielded him from the attack, and was soon healed.

Nergal was hiding behind a secret wall, with magical cohorts around him. Hawkeye and Athos defeated the henchman, opening the way for Lucius to use his knew Aureola tome on Nergal to pierce his magical barriers that kept him from dying easily. With Nergal momentarily dazed, Hector charged in with Armads, dealing out the killing blow and defeating Nergal once and for all.

Everyone started to breathe a sigh of relief, when we heard a giant cry from the back of the chamber. Fearing the worst, everyone ran back to the Dragon's Gate, where our worst fears were realized. Though we had defeated Nergal, he had managed to summon the Dragons through the gate before his death. Athos tried to hold them back, but only got burns for his effort. Just when things seemed lost, a bright light shined down and Brammimond from the Weapon Seal site was with us. He asked for everyone's power to help him perform his magic, and when the spell was complete, Ninian stood before us, alive and well. Eliwood and Nils barely had any time to react, as Bramimmond had asked for her to try to hold back the dragons with her powers that she regained. Ninian summoned the most powerful cold magic that I'd ever seen, and when she was done, 2 of the dragons were defeated. There was still one more however, and he could still easily raze the continent with enough time if we didn't stop him here and now.

This was a dragon, so the only people who were capable of doing more than a scratch were the wielders of the ancient weapons of the Scouring. This happened to be Athos with the Forblaze, Hector with the Armads, and Lucius with the Aureola. The dragon's fire was incredibly powerful, but Ninians assault before had weakened him, so he was a very slow foe. With careful healing, the 3 of them were able to defeat our strongest foe that we ever faced.

After the fight was done, Athos slumped down with exhaustion. The attacks from the dragons breath was too much for his ancient body to handle. As he died, he found himself seeing visions of the future, and ominously warned us that Bern would lead to the land being covered in blood once again. Lycia would once again be the hope of the future. Ninian and Nils also left us, having to go back through the portal so that they could regain their power and seal the gate. They also hope to make peace with the humans that happen to live on their side of the gate. I know Eliwood is sad that he had to leave Ninian so soon after the two of them being reunited, but at least he could take comfort in the fact that she's still alive somewhere. It was a new day, and time to work towards a new future.
