The End of the Endings

Let's continue our tour of the multiple endings:

Chariot

  • How to get:
    • You must have Tristan.
    • Your Reputation must be at least half full.

Destin and Tristan appear
Tristan: Thanks to you the Empire has been destroyed.
Destin: Thank You, Our efforts will not go unrewarded.
Tristan: Yes, but I think you have heard... the Rodisti to the north seem to have plans for us. I am very worried about that. The time where we will need to fight them will come, so I have a favor to ask of you. I want you to become the general of my armies, and to command as you have. Well ... ?
Destin: Your wish is my command.
Tristan: I am glad to hear that. With your strength, I can rest assured. We will someday be able to make a world with no war.
Destin: By our hands, Peace to the world.

Thus a new Zenobia was born on the Zeteginean continent. After than, the new kingdom of Zenobia enjoyed a long peace under king Tristan. As a general, you served your king well and expanded the kingdom far.
Many of the endings so far have mentioned those "Rodisti" north of Zenobia. Those who have played Ogre Battle 64 know Lodis and Palatinus are north of Zenobia. I've heard rumors the Playstation version of the game actually changes the name Rodisti to Lodis, though I have not played it myself. As Ogre Battle 64 establishes that Lodis has long had a boner for trying to conquer Zenobia (Their whole reason to invade Palatinus was to use it as a staging ground to attack Zenobia). Hrrrm. Fan Wank on my part.

Hanged Man

  • How to get:
    • Your Reputation must be at least half full.

Lans and Tristan appear
Lans: Your highness, are you sure this is necessary?
Tristan: If you don't do it, I will...
Lans: I cannot allow that, but...
Tristan: We must use this celebration. It's our only chance.
Lans is replaced by Destin
Destin: Prince Tristan! What are you doing here?
Tristan: We have nothing against you, but we cannot allow you to live...
Tristan is replaced by Lans
Lans: Hero! Prepare yourself!
Destin: What are you...? Arrrghhh!
Destin's portrait fades and is replaced by Tristan's
Tristan: Forgive me, Destin. By being hero, you were bound to come for the Throne sometime.
Lans: Pl... please forgive me... Oh, by the gods...
Tristan: I will never forget you. May you rest in peace.
Shot of Castle Zenobia on a yellow sky
Thus a new Zenobia was born on the Zeteginean continent. After than, the new kingdom of Zenobia enjoyed a long peace under king Tristan. The names of King Tristan and his armies were known for all Eternity. But there were none who knew of the hero who was born and died in war.

Yup, the endings are all getting darker from here on out.

Death

  • How to get:
    • Your reputation meter must be almost empty.
    • Destin needs to have neutal-ish charisma.

Destin appears alone
Destin: People of Zenobia, Listen to me! I have found a most wonderful thing during the war: The power of the Dark! Why do you think a puny country like the Highlands was able to take over the continent? Black Magic! You heard that the Rodisti want to take our land! They want to rule over you! Can we forgive that? No need for compassion! Death to those who oppose use! Crush the Rodisti. Learn the ways of the dark! If you do, you will earn my protection! We are an empire built on the Dark! We will use that power to create an invincible Empire!
Destin's portrait is replaced by that of Gares with his armor intact, intending to show Destin dressing up like him
Destin: Look! Worship me! I am one of the god come to earth! Power to our Empire!
Image of Castle Zenobia over a Red sky this time
Thus a new Empire was born on the continent of Zeteginea. The empire that you built was known and feared as the "Black Empire". You have now become the leader of an era...

Tower

  • How to get:
    • Destin's Charisma must be low.
    • Your reputation meter must be empty.

Lans and Tristan appear
Tristan: Lans, how are our troops holding up?
Lans: We estimate 300 left...
Tristan: Any of the original bunch?
Lans: Many, beginning with those lead by the Paladin, Rauny.
Tristan: Good, that's enough. We will leave here before Daybreak. The empire that Destin created is worst than the Zeteginean Empire. And now more lives must be lost to bring it down. You fool, Destin. You will meet the same fate as Endora!
Zenobia Castle over a red sky
One year later, a unit of Liberation forces lead by Prince Tristan destroyed you and your army, and freed Zenobia once again. He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. You have followed the wrong path...

Devil

  • How to get:
    • Your reputation must be almost empty.
    • You must have recruited Galf by obtaining Brunhild and sacrificing it to him.

Now time for the worst ending of the game. And funny, also a hard one to get, since you need High reputation to get Brunhild, but almost empty reputation and alignment to get Galf.

Galf and Destin appear
Galf: You have done well. The world is now yours.
Destin: Thank you. I owe it all to those who fought with me.
Galf: You have attained the world and release me from my prison. Now our pact is completed. Thanks to the power of Brunhild, I have become more powerful than ever before. And what do you expect me to do with that power?
Destin: ...What do you mean?
Galf: I intend to take this world and create an Empire of absolute evil! And your body will be the first thing I take...
Destin: Wh...What are you?... Aaaghhhh!
Destin and Galf's portraits disapear, Destin's portrait reappears in the center, facing the same way Galf had.
Galf: Stupid Human. Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, ah!
Zenobia castle over a red sky
Thus a new Empire was born on the continent of Zeteginea. The people welcomed the new ruler, but had no idea of the horrors that were coming... The horrors of the Ogre Battle.

And that is our last ending. and with that, the end of my last update. I'd like to thank all of you who read these 41 updates. I'll continue reading the comments, so if you have questions, feel free to ask. I'd love to eventually do a LP of Ogre Battle 64 and continue Destin's adventures, though sadly I have not the gear to capture footage of it (as I only own the game on Wii Virtual Console). Till then, however, I hope you enjoyed that Let's Play as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thanks again!

Oh, those were quite dark at the end, weren't they? Though I must admit, it's a bit odd that Tristan decides to kick your bucket immediately if you've got a so-so view on the world, and stands back and lets you create an evil empire in the next listed ending. One can't help but wonder what was going through the prince's mind at the time...

Anyways, as I have said in other comments for other entries, this was a comprehensive, emotion-invoking, and ultimately enjoyable work to read about. And until the next time you make a Liveblog, I'd just like to wish you a good afternoon, good evening, and good night.

This was the first time I played alongside with a LP, and I must add it was flawless, thanks to you I got the WORLD ending (and 6 Liches and 4 princesses!) I'm very much looking forward to see the LP of Ogre Battle 64(Though, you can play it on Project64 and take screenscaps or frap the whole thing). For everything else, thank you very much. May the force be with you

Project 64 refuses to run properly on my computer (In fact, I doesn't seem to work at all), so only way I could play the game is on Wii (I have it on Wii Ware) but I lack stuff to capture footage.

I haven't given up hope of making an LP of it eventually. Glad you liked it.
