Scene 23: The Assassin

Been a busy last few days, sorry about the lack of updates. Without further delays, Off we are to the Dalmuhd Desert!

Scene 23: The Assassin

As the map begins, I use one of my items, a merchant, to buy enough items to raise Warren's Luck to 100. See if he can drop more random drops.

The desert is one boring map. Flat. Sandy. Boring. There's no real strategy, move people towards the castle, liberating towns along the way. Warren's luck immediately hits: The moment he leaves the base he meets a neutral unit! Aisha frees Maijara for IV: Emperor.

Hormzussa Castle, to the north, used to be a hideout for those on the run from the law. Now it's being used as an imperial base.

Mobi the vampire meets a ninja with two griffons. Fun fact, this unit technically is not legal, as a ninja and griffons cannot be squad leader. What The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard? Who knew? Aisha finds a Death's cape, Black +17, Physical +13, White -11. Warren meets three evil ones and a cockatrice. His improved luck pays again, netting me a jar of kryptonian termites. Mwahahaahaha. One squad (Lich/Devil/Sorcerer with Ninja Masters) meets three Samurai Masters and two ninjas. The samurais are all in the back, this is gonna hurt... Chabahaul is freed by Princess Rauny for XX: Judgement.

The people hiding in Hormzussa Castle, are Ninjas. They have forgotten they were once knights and are now robbing people.

Hilzabard is freed by Canopus for XVII: Star.

From ancient times, ninjas have lived in a world of darkness separated from our own. Prochon hates that fact and is said to be supported by Endora.

Warren meets two mages (one tanking) with two wraiths. Debonair fights three demons and a red dragon II. Bandle Rangeh is freed by Debonair for IV: Emperor.

The boss here is the Ninja Master, Prochon. He is a traitor who assassinated his former king, Ofays and joined the Empire.

Kharngarhn is freed for XX: Judgement

Prochon was the head of the ninja army supported by the kingom of Ofays. Why would someone like that wish to assassinate king Ofays and help the Empire? I don't know why but I know we don't want someone like that living around here!

Lyon and Gilbert meet a Zombie Dragon with three shamans, two as tanks (?). Easy fight, the pathetic Zombie Dragon being in the back row doesn't help them much, coz it sucks. Rot is a single target physical attack. On a tier 4 dragon? Why would you use one! Destin meets three ninja masters with two ravenmen, and he kills all 5 in one fight. The temple east of the center lake is freed for I: Magician.

Rauny, Fogel and Ashe meet three Samurai masters and two ninjas. Slaughter doesn't even describe it. It doesn't help that the Samurai masters waste their Ianukis on Fogel, who can essentially shrug them off. They take more damage from using it then he does! Konsh is freed for IX: Hermit.

The assassin Prochon was sent here to assassinate the mage Gizolfy. Who is Gizolfy? He's only the greatest mage on the continent! He lives far from here, in the city of Aliabard.
You may remember that, a long, long time ago in the Pogrom forest we were tasked with meeting this Gizolfy. This ties in with the mission to meet the Goddess in Shangrila, believe it or not, but we can only meet him after finishing the stage.

Warren finds me a third crown on an enemy squad! Can I have too many princesses? No! This Luck upgrade was the best idea ever! Norn becomes my third princess. Warren meets three mages and two wraiths. I use a Judgement card to defeat the undeads, Warren wipes the rest.

Sidabard is freed by Rauny for VII: Strength.

That is what the wizard Gizolfy was saying. It is said that there was originally 13 white mages. I wonder if that means there is a 13th zodiac stone somewhere?

Aisha frees Aliabard for II: Priestess.

The great mage Gizolfy lives in this town. But he's hidding somewhere from Prochon. Please finish Prochon off and bring peace to our land!
I am all too happy to oblige so I send Warren to meet the Ninja Master.

Destin fights an Evil One, A Black Dragon, and a Tiamat. Easy fight. Warren reaches Prochon. Don't dismiss him as “Just a ninja master”. The dude can tank like a general, and his nunjutsu hits like a Lich's magic. He's himself resistant to magic like a Lich, and dodges even the attacks of other ninja masters with ease. Thankfully, his escort – 4 ninjas, are a pushover.

We need to return to the desert, to meet Gizolfy.
Oh the Quicksilver! So you've met with Boltorano. It seems that you have been acknowledged as a true hero Destin. In this case I must give you this “Gem of Doun”. A Recurrence of the Ogre Battle must be avoided at all cost. This is your destiny.

The Gem of Doun is one of the gems mentioned to us in Shangrila, but we should return it to Boltorano in the Pogrom Forest. Before leaving, I grab the hidden treasures, a glaive of Benyak and a silver helmet.(phys +3, white +1).

Returning to Boltorano...

Oh you brought me the gem of Doun! Please keep it and take this Old Orb. Take these two gems to the witch Tarut in the town of Ramoto on the Ryhan Sea. If you take these to Tarut, a whole new door will be opened on your life. May the gods walk with you!

Next time: The Chronicles of Zeteginea: The Cardinal, The Witch, and the Tablet.

I find it a tad odd that Prochon wanted to have his name placed in the history books. I'm aware that this whole war is quite a big deal and he'd deserve a lot of credit for ending Destin's grand rebellion, but it would kinda put a damper on that whole 'life hiding in the shadows' thing. Then again, many in the modern era now know about characters such as Sarutobi Sasuke and Hanzo Hattori...

Also, three cheers for those adamantium-toothed termites!
