Chapter Three: Get Used To This Guy

Jayde is now sixteen years old, she has advanced her magic, she's outside of her house, and nothing could possibly go wro- cue the assassin appearing out of flames. Jayde makes a snarky snark about him being a ninja, and Mark says this: "Hello. My name is Marcus Gonzales. You are a shadow. Prepare to die." but then he is thwarted when his sidekick and Brother Chuck who is never seen after the next chapter runs in. She's an anthropomorphic wolf girl named Sarah or something equally generic. She glomps him, giving Jayde the opportunity to sneak away. Mark yells at her and drinks his sorrows away with one gulp, then gets really drunk for a bit. Lightweight. This also makes no sense and shows that the author should be ashamed of not planning ahead because The Reveal that he's a robot wouldn't work given the fact that he could get drunk, or even drinks at all, unless he's Bender, but the more he drank, the more sober he would become so it's a reversal...

Bah, I'm getting way to into this. Bottom line, Mark get drunk. Mark is robot. Robots can no get drunk.

Anyway, Mark finds an Ass Pull that is never mentioned again, never explained, is given no backstory, no buildup, and ultimately means nothing. Big-Lipped Alligator Moment! The Ass Pull is going to be dubbed "Red Pendant of Diabolus ex Machina", it is a red pendant that apparently shows of a boy who gained great bower with the pendant. Mark puts it on, and all of a sudden, lighting strikes! It strikes down everything until Mark is the tallest thing in the area, then he gets stricken, but doesn't die because of his ability to control fire and the pendant combined makes him berserk and able to fly!

...

Wow. Read that again. That was supposed to be scientific. How the hell could lightning strike that quickly, quick enough to wipe out everything taller than an eighteen-year old boy in less than a minute, and why the fuck did Mark just stand there? Does the lightning have a mind of it's own? The pendant makes Mark mindless when lightning strikes it, um... why? How? Ya care to explain, ten-year old Jordan? Anyway, Mark carries Sarah away and sets off to find Jayde again.
