Hand Stab

Someone stabs someone else with their hand, fingers straight out forward, usually to the chest.

Name Space:
Page Type:
A specific subtrope of Impaled with Extreme Prejudice. What better way to show that someone's a total badass than being able to run their foes through with their bare hands? Bonus points if the guy doing it DOESN'T have claws.

Needs a Better Name

  • Weiss does this to Nero in Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus after his resurrection.

  • Albert Wesker from Resident Evil is a big fan of this move.

  • This is how Agent Smith from The Matrix infects his victims and turns them into copies of himself.

  • From Naruto: It's pushing it, but Kakashi and Sasuke's basic Lightning Blade could be called this, especially notable when Kakashi first uses it against Haku.

  • One of the Banshee's One-Hit Kill attacks in Mass Effect 3 involves them grabbing you and ramming their hand through your chest.

  • Beelzemon kills Leomon this way in Digimon Tamers.

  • Starscream kills Cliffjumper this way in Transformers Prime.

Nanto Seiken stylists in Fist Of The North Star are able to do this with their fingers. It's how Kenshiro got the seven scars from Shin.

    • This turns up in a few places in Soul Eater. Mainly done to people by Asura in hallucinations. There are also a couple of downplayed examples where hands are "stabbed" into existing wounds to cripple people with the pain; by Mifune to Sid during the battle over BREW and in the final episode Asura forces Maka out of a Super Mode she was in after being knocked out by stabbing his hand into a wound to wake her up.

This is included in my YKTTW Razor Sharp Hand

What do we do? Should we make it two separate tropes?

Richard did it to his evil half-brother in Temple of the Winds. Then he gripped and broke his spine.

In Heroes Of Might And Magic 3, the undead King Gryphonheart does it to his killer in the end cinematic. Through plate armor.

^^^ I'd say, merge it into the more general trope (i.e. yours).

    • In Clamp's X, this is Seichiro's signature move. he dies when a carmic curse placed on him by Hokuto reflects his power, causing him to get impaled on Subaru's hand
    • Alucard in Hellsing often does it - between his strength and magic, every opponent is Made Of Plasticine. Seras sometimes uses this move when enraged, though she prefers slashing to stabbing.

    • Bleach anime episode 162. Ulquiorra stabs Ichigo in the chest with his hand and leaves him for dead.
