^I think this is different than This Index Is Copypasted, because that index seems to deal with imitations of other characters and whatnot, whereas this deals with imitations of items.

^^ Well, there is the point that that index would deserve a mention in description of the proposed index.

I do not think that Artificial Zombie belongs here, it is not about something pretending to be zombies, its about zombies made with science

I've probably lumped it in because it was stated to be sterile in description. Like, a-ha, it imitates an indefinitely-individual classic zombie.

This totally looks like a deliberate disruption now. Count the number of useless comments other people would have to scan through if they wanted to contribute in good faith. No grace. No grace at all.

^ Do you think that we should have both and they should be exactly the same?

If I did get the question right, then there is that issue of intuitive navigation through an index, in which Expy and Fake Boobs would be neighbors.

This candidate does look like one focusing on material world, patterns stemming from aspects of functionality and appearance.

The "This Index is Copypasted" (Misanthropy fuel name) thing looks more like focusing on ideas, aspects of impressions, reactions elicited and behavior. Actually more tropeworthy things, I think.

The border asks to be there. Whether the two things should get separate pages or not — is rather irrelevant, is a different question.

edit: perhaps the difference is in key imitated points belonging in- and out-of-universe

I agree with the people saying this is basically just copying(no pun intended) This Index Is Copypasted. It seems that index can also handle copied items as well as characters

^^Do you mean like tropes would go in This Index Is Copypasted while Trivia and YMMV items would go in this index?

^I don't see how that would make a difference, honestly

^^ No, I don't. But I did think this ykttw could turn out to be or could evolve into or could work as — Trivia bait (such baits might have their uses) or Trivia collection.

The question from 2014-05-29 still standing — doesn't help. "Tropes that are imitation of real items" is nonsense of a formula, fitting which formula would force a trope to be trivial object before it manages to qualify. Is there anyone who knows of such an item as "We Will Not Use Photoshop in the Future"? Of what real item is it an imitation?

This Index Is Copypasted, I think, has an allusive, mirrored problem. As if it has started as one idea, then collected entries, then got the slightly-off title it got, then the title itself started to go and put misaimed idea in minds of those who see it.
Anyways, a hard-to-ignore difference in making an imitation of something and copypasting something, is reference requirements.

I need a picture of Mona Lisa to copypaste it to my wallpaper.

But I don't even need to know what Mona Lisa painting looks like to make an imitation. I can take a thick pen and draw a dot-dot-stick-stick-circle, add some hair, ears, neck maybe and I'm done. The rest is up to my resourcefulness in finding people my authority over whom would be enough to make them see this masterpiece as Mona Lisa.

Very funny. Okay, so, an imitation of what real item is the Fake Food trope then?

The answer should be the same as the previous time. If separating "Item" from "Trope of Involving an Item in Storytelling" is asking too much, this index will be empty soon.

Yeah... the playing around means I don't know what this index is supposed to be for, or how it is distinct from This Index Is Copypasta. Adding a motion to discard.

So, cavecat, you going to actually discuss what makes this different from that other index we are talking about? It's been a week
