We have Never Trust a Trailer for the tendancy of trailer some trailers to mislead...

Is there a trope for trailers which go in the opposite direction, and reveal so much of the events of the film that after having viewed the trailer, theres really no need to see the film. The one that always sticks in my mind for this is Vertical Limit, in which every single interesting stunt was featured in the trailer.

Particularly annoying is when a film has an interesting twist that's not a Twist Ending that would have come as a surprise... if it hadn't already been revaled in the trailer.

This was particularly reprehensible in From Dusk To Dawn. Imagine how much more awesome it would have been if you'd gone in expecting a regular Tarantino buddy/desperado movie, and then things go batshit-insane, so to speak...

I never saw a trailer for that and only knew it was a Tarantino movie, so I happily experienced just that.

Home Alone was really bad about this. The trailer showed every boobytrap and prat fall.

Most comedies today are so badly written, I find, that in order to entice you into the theater they have to put all the best jokes in the trailer.

As far as I know, Soylent Green is guilty of this.

Actually, I remember seeing the trailer for Soylent Green on that cool trailer-show they used to have on Sci-Fi Channel, and it wasn't guilty of this at all.

So everyone agrees that it's a good idea, and we have lots of examples. Any other ideas for names? Or are we just going to go with Spoiler Trailer ? To be honest I'm having a hard time thinking of anything better myself.

I'm a little hesitant to go for Trailers Always Spoil, because I was really thinking about the worst offenders when they give away the whole movie... but the more I think about it the more I realise that most trailers do have spoilers to some degree.

So the name gets my vote, In America!

(And how about a new media trope for annoying gimmicks in forums that are surprisingly catchy... now what could we call it...)
