All a guy/gal wants to do is open up a bakery!

A characters dream job is to open up a bakery - often a cupcake shop. Often times they will be working other less ideal jobs while trying to save up money to open their bakery. Sometimes a character has already opened a bakery and, usually for financial reasons, closed shop at some point. Sometimes this can be the aspirations of two characters, hoping to open shop together.

    This might be Too Specific To Trope, but it could be expanded into characters who aspire to open a business.

    Either way it's a relative of Call To Agriculture.

    • The Simpsons: when Bart gets Mrs. Krabappel fired he feels guilty and helps her fulfill her dream, opening a cupcake shop. But then he reveals that he's the one who got her fired, which pisses her off, because her real dream had always been to be a teacher. The cupcake shop was her backup dream.
    • 2BrokeGirls: They plan to save enough money to open a cupcake shop. It'll take $250K; as of the pilot, they have $347.

    There was a girl in an episode of Monk who was a law student and was terrible at it. Her dream was to open a bakery, but she didn't have the money. At the end of the episode, she came into a large amount and finally dropped out in order to follow her dream.
