Complimenting hair strikes me as a People Sit On Chairs thing. Having unusual hair is more tropey, but I think it's already covered by other tropes.

    Then let me change it

Um, actually there probably is a trope in here. An instance that springs to mind is Agnes in the discworld novels. She is, um, generously proportioned, so people tend to compliment her hair, if I recall.

    Where is this trope?

No I meant you probably have one, though it needs refining. Complimenting someones hair by itself is not really tropeable, but if it's used as a fallback when you cant think of anything else good to say in other works, that would definitelhy be worth a page.

You mean What Beautiful Hair, right?

Wait! Now I know what trope you mean: you mean Damned By Faint Praise.

Uh, how about making this trope as a sub-trope to Damned By Faint Praise?

No, not exactly. Damned By Faint Praise is where the subject is expecting to get praised for something significant, and takes offense at only being given a minor comment about something else entirely. Whereas a trope for "complimenting hair because you can't think of anything else to say" is very different in execution.

Which also makes it too bad we can't just call it Nice Hair.

I can see this as tropewothy, though Personal Appearance Tropes cause lots of problems. They should be in-universe, but they attract natter and audience reactions.

Complimenting eyes is probably more common as there are saying like "an eye in a window to the soul" and there are many Eye Tropes.

Complimenting hair is common enough, and there are already many hair style tropes, see Hair Tropes.

Jess, I have to say this -- why did you start two very similar YKTTW? Your What Beautiful Hair is probably the same thing.

I made the second one I made it because of Larkmarn

There's not enough meat on this bone for it to be trope-worthy; neither in description nor examples.

^ I agree. Personally I think complimenting hair or having a character with extraordinary hair is tropeworthy becauase we have What Beautiful Eyes and this would make a nice Sister Trope. Also we have Traumatic Haircut for situations when women lose their hair involuntarily.

But there is no progress here. Two sentences and no examples -- it doesn't look like the OP takes this seriously. We don't need incomplete ideas... Unless of course someone grabs this and tries to get it launched.
