I haven't found a direct description of this trope, though I it may be similar to Creator Breakdown, Creator Backlash, Author Existence Failure, and perhaps sort of a "real life" version of Put On a Bus. Basically it's when the creator of a certain medium (i.e. a TV series) leaves the series and it continues to run more or less successfully in their absence. Reasons for the creator (or sometimes a very iconic creative force behind the medium) can vary between amicable to acrimonious circumstances. The most well-known examples I can think of are the departure of series creator and original host Joel Hodgson from Mystery Science Theater 3000, the departure of Mortal Kombat cocreator John Tobias from Midway, and Bad Religion co-founder Brett Gurewitz' seven-year absence from the band. Anyone feel free to add other examples or edit this draft as needed.
Five hats means that five tropers think it is ready to publish.
You are saying that you think this draft is ready to be published. That means the description is not ambiguous,
it doesn't duplicate an existing trope, there are at least three examples, and the title makes sense.
