I don't know if this is a form of Dummied Out or not. The main example I can think of is in a Batman Forever movie trailer (shown fairly often when the movie came out) Two-Face says "If the Bat wants to play, we'll play!" but that scene/line NEVER occurs in the movie despite being in several previews/trailers. I even think they used the same line in the video games!
