I'll add a laconic version in a bit. I'm just trying to figure out if this is some kind of trope. What caught my attention was the song "Castle on a Cloud" from Les MisÚrables, where in the middle of the song, Cosette whispers one line (the line of the woman who lives in the castle) for no discernable reason - "Cosette, I love you very much." I was curious as to whether we could identify if there is some sort of trope at work here. Maybe little girls are considered more likely to share secrets, so there's some sort of cultural connection there. Maybe it's a tragic whisper of the dream of a little girl. I'm just trying to figure this out.
