Naquadah Enhanced

Modern Tech With An Alien Boost

Name Space:
Page Type:
Sometimes when faced with otherworldly forces modern humans can sometimes, depending on the setting, have a good idea of what they need.

This is when they actually think to take a common piece of technology in real life, and mingle it together with an alien device, power source, or somethting else that has been explained reasonably, but which is otherworldly in nature.

Effectively its when human technology doesn't have to be completely kept seperate from alien techonlogy and thus we can have human laptops with excessively long term alien batteries, Doctor Who or phones that can get a signal back to earth from another point in time-space all together.

The current name is based on the fuel Naquadah.

Naming suggestions requested!

Sorry if this trope already exists... I didn't know how to do a search.

(Also my naming idea is based on the fact that Stargate is about acquiring tech while ALOT of other Sci-Fi shows set on modern Earth tend to be MUCH more concerned with keeping aliens secret.)

    Tabletop RPG
    • Dark Conspiracy supplement DarkTek. Several items were created using a mixture of human and Humanoid ET technology, such as the Distorter (which prevented Dimension Walking), the Exoskel (clothing-like exoskeletal armor), the High-Cycle Laser (a powerful laser pistol) and the SOCCM (a wide-area sonic stunner).

Terrible name, though I think there is a good trope here, and it's a little unclear exactly what you intend with the trope.

Is it just the easy merging of alien and human tech? Then we have it as Plug N Play Technology.

If it means easily boosting alien tech with human tech or vice versa, then I think that would be a valid subtrope of Plug N Play Technology. Perhaps naming the trope Boosted By Foreign Tech?

The Avengers has the tesseract that is used as an energy source.

Well, look up Imported Alien Phlebotinum and start hunting from there.
  • July 6, 2012
Unfortunately, that name'll never make it out of YKTTW.

"Phlebotinum" is the neutral term for Naquadah-like substances on TV Tropes.

The name was made as a place-holder because it gets the point accross. I know Phlebotinum is the standard term, but that would've implied combining modern earth technology with magic as well as alien tech wouldn't it?
