Ridiculously Tight Bed Tucking

A character is trapped in bed after being tucked in too tightly

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
A Comedy trope. A character is tucked into bed so tightly, they are unable to get out by themselves.

Examples:

Western Animation
  • In one episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo?, the gang visits a military base. Shaggy and Scooby are tucked in so tightly by the staff that when the monster attacks during the night, they need to cut themselves out with a knife.
  • In The Simpsons episode, "Lisa the Greek", after getting closer to his daughter, Homer tucks Lisa into bed. It's pretty obvious he doesn't do it too often:
Lisa (to Marge): Could you loosen my blanket a little? Dad tucked me in too tight, and it's cutting off the circulation in my arms and legs.

Live-Action TV
  • In one episode of Malcolm in the Middle, a burglar climbs through the window of Hal and Lois' bedroom. Hal tries to get up to defend them, but becomes entangled in the covers and falls on the ground, leaving Reese to knock the burglar out. When recounting the story to the police, Hal explains that the reason he didn't stop the burglar himself was because Lois had tucked him in so tightly he couldn't move.

^ I don't know... I do recall an episode of The Simpsons, where Homer tucks Lisa into bed so tightly that it prevents blood from flowing freely in her body.

    • One episode of Arthur concerned Buster not being able to attend the Father's Day Picnic (due to the fact that his parents are divorced) so among the failed attempts to get him to go with a replacement father figure had Binky Barnes taking lessons in being a parent. One of the things he does while being a parent is when he accidentally tucks in D.W. in bed too tight, so Arthur goes over to help her out.

I was thinking it might be Too Rare To Trope as well, so I'll leave it for now and see if it collects more examples
