Guards will kill any crime comitter, be it a petty theft or murder, on sight.
In videogames (or less commonly other medias), the character will often have to perform some criminal act. Be it trespassing, thievery, or murder, any guard, city or personal, will kill on sight rather than take you into custody, as reality would have it. Named Mass Militarization because most militarized sites shoot any intruder. Needs a better name.
- Assassin's Creed is a large offender of this, as even running across rooftops will get you shot.
- The Thief games has elements of this; although it is somewhat justified.
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and all prior or subsequent Elder Scrolls game are aversions to this, with the guards proposing an option to be arrested.
