    Hmm... you may want to expand this to other rivalries like a job interview or competitive sport. We have Murder The Hypotenuse for romance but I'm surprised we don't have one for other rivalries. Missing Supertrope indeed.

    Thanks. You're correct, this could probably extend to pretty much all over areas. I was thinking there could be guidelines to keep it from overlapping with Kill And Replace or Mugged For Disguise as well.

    The Super Trope suggestion does seem like a good idea, since media is littered with examples of this that wouldn't necessarily fall under the umbrella of "injuring" the rival to remove her.

    • Nomi Malone pushes Cristal Connors down a flight of stairs to prevent Cristal from booting Nomi from the Showgirls squad. Though Cristal survives the fall, she is too banged up to perform. This results in a Klingon Promotion for Nomi, who is tapped to fill headliner role.

    In the "Mathnet" story "The Case of the Un-Kidnapping" an aging diva frames a young ingenue she's jealous/fearful of for kidnapping her, which also helps with publicity for her great "comeback" in Anything Went. The Summation is in song on stage in front of an audience. [1]
