Put Your 3D Glasses On
That moment when the main character gets zapped into the virtual/digital world, usually accompanied with over-the-top special effects.
That dramatic moment when the fearless main character is forced to plunge head-first into a potentially dangerous alternate world. His physical body is altered in some way (shrunk, digitized, sedated, etc.). Entry to the world is usually triggered either by typing something on a keyboard and hitting the "enter" key definitively, or having some absurdly excessive piece of equipment strapped to them and activated. If it is a 3D film, this is usually the moment when the viewers are prompted to don their 3D glasses. Soon after, a series of psychedelic abstract flying-through-a-tunnel images go by. Once they dissipate, the character is usually dazed and confused. Some examples: Film
- TRON. While Kevin Flynn is trying to hack into the ENCOM computer system and get evidence of his mistreatment, the MCP program uses a laser to digitize him and upload him into the computer.
- Inner Space
- 2001: A Space Odyssey, when Dave Bowman enters the Monolith he passes through a series of hallucinatory images.
- The Matrix. People are jacked into the Matrix by having a device inserted into the back of their head. After they enter they appear the way they originally did in the Matrix before they entered the real world.
- Spy Kids 3D Game Over
