Soundproof Kitchen

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
When characters move to the kitchen to have an intense conversation, and everybody else doesn't hear. Frasier, Friends, Golden Girls, and other sitcoms come to mind. Averted in S 01 E 06 of New Girl, in which they go to the hallway, and everybody can still hear them through the door.

I'd recommend naming it "Frasier Kitchen" because the trope is used more often and in more ridiculous ways on Frasier. Not only will they often go to the kitchen or down the hall to talk privately, but sometimes they'll do it in the same room just a few feet away, depending on the setting. No matter where they are they'll find a way to get to a "Frasier kitchen" to yell at each other without anyone hearing. Lots of sitcoms do this, but it's doubly ridiculous on Frasier.
