Implied War

A major conflict is taking place, and is a major plot point, but any actual battle is rarely if ever shown.

Trope
War is brewing, two mighty factions are at each others throats, many are being killed over land, freedom, or honor. . .

Or so they say.

When War is a major plot point of a narrative, but rarely any battle is even described. Often in videogames, absolutely nothing will happen in the favor of either side until the player joins up.

Nineteen Eighty Four: Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia, wait, I mean Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia, but the entire story takes place on the home front of Airstrip One.

In Over The Wine Dark Sea the Macedonian Succession Wars are constantly going on around but except in such occasional times when the characters take on contracts for one side or the other, it is simply one more hazard to honest merchants.

Would wartime dramas such as Black Book and Schindlers List count? They're dramas that take place during wartime atrocities but aren't really about the war itself.

I am pretty sure this is the Great Offscreen War: a war with a major impact on the plot but never depicted on-screen.
