Too Sexy For This Timeslot

Name Space:
Page Type:
UK readers are probably familiar with the show Dancing On Ice, a celeb ice-skating contest. The female host of this show is a former children's presenter and underwear model, Holly Willoughby.

On Saturday, Ms. Willoughby was wearing a very low-cut dress, leading this troper to wonder if she's surgically enhanced.

Other viewers complained that she was dressed inappropriately for a family show.

When people complain that something is too revealing for its timeslot- and action may be taken.

Other examples:
  • A number of MTV videos could only be shown late at night.
  • A Ryanair ad (a UK budget airline) was banned due to have a "sexy schoolgirl".

I'm pretty sure Primeval got accused of this.

Would this include Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction?

NYPD Blue? Even though it was on very late, it's STILL causing controversy -- namely, that the FCC (after several administration changeups) has just now gotten around for fining them for showing a bare buttock on TV... years and years ago.

Nothing to do with the trope, but Ryanair is Irish, not U Kian.

Also, I believe Hello Nurse in Animaniacs was accused of this.

Vampire Buddha -- don't forget Minerva Mink, who was banished from the show by the censors after they figured it out.

It was in a UK paper, as a UK promotion, but thanks for the correction.

    Unknown Troper
Comedy Central's programming post 1 am, since FCC standards allow actual nudity and swearing on cable past that time.
