In their drunken stupor, a sudden idea is introduced to them, either by their own imagination or an outside source. The Drunken Epiphany could be an idea that's So Bad, It's Good, or maybe it's just Crazy Enough to Work. But it doesn't matter how the conclusion is arrived at, because either way, Hilarity Ensues. In a more serious case, you might even get a Higher Understanding Through Drugs, and do something really cool. Truth in Television. Almost always invokes What an Idiot!, but in rare cases can invoke Dumbass Has a Point — if it's not a bad idea. Often a result of Chaotic Stupid, Dumb Muscle, The Fool, and The Ditz. Compare Too Dumb to Fool and Too Dumb to Live. Compare and contrast Genius Ditz and Obfuscating Stupidity. There are countless Real Life examples, on which all of the examples in media are based upon.

- In the Discworld novel The Last Continent Rincewind drunkenly invents the Discworld version of vegemite after deciding it was a good idea to make soup by boiling random ingredients in beer.
- In the short, "One Beer" from the Tiny Toon Adventures episode, "Elephant Issues", Buster, Plucky, and Hamton get drunk off the titular beer. They then get an idea to steal a police car (which is parked conveniently next to a donut shop), which leads to them driving it off a cliff and killing them. Somewhat averted, since it was all just an act designed to teach kids a lesson.
