Hollywood Piano Talent

When a person fakes playing a piano. Badly.

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
Needs a Better Title, Do We Have This One?? In Live-Action TV, when a person plays a piano, their fingers either hit keys realistically, or it looks like the person is faking. But mostly the latter. Also applies to a computer keyboard.

Thing Done Badly isn't a trope.

Sounds a little like Special Effects Failure to me.

Badly fakes or fakes "playing badly"?

    Badly fakes, obviously.

The description should tell how you can see that he's faking it. Most obvious: He hits a key, but there's no sound, or vice versa.

I'm trying to say that Joe is playing a piece of music, but his hands are just hitting keys randomly.

They have something like this for singing. Where it's obvious they're trained singers, but they do obviously fake singing, because it's actually hard to sing off key once you've been trained.
