Sword As Penis

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
For some Freudian symbolism have a character, often times a villain, keep his sword/knife directly over his penis or stab another character with the implications being that it represents their penis. Swords are phallic shaped anyway but this makes the implications more obvious especially when they penetrate another characters body with said sword in a rape metaphor. Often has perverted implications.

Examples:

Anime and Manga
  • In Black Cat after smashing Train into the wall Creed (while holding a rose between his teeth, no less) goes on about how his emotions running high in disappointment and anger towards Train has caused his Imaginary Blade to grow enormous in strength and size and he even tries to penetrate Train's body with said ridiculously phallic-looking sword.
  • Naruto and Sasuke have a lot of Ho Yay between them. Because of this any attempts on Sasuke's part to kill Naruto by stabbing him with his sword come off looking like he's trying to have sex with him.
  • The location of Mayuri Kurotsuchi's sword in Bleach.
  • Revolutionary Girl Utena often makes much use of phallic Freudian imagery, usually through the use of of swords.

Film
  • Spaceballs where Yogurt and Dark Helmet are comparing the size of their shwartzes.
  • Psycho features the infamous shower scene—the phallic-shaped knife, repeatedly stabbing Marion, the entire murder being born of the killer's sexual repression. . .
  • In the Scream movies the killer repeatedly goes after young women and acts seductively towards them even when trying to murder them or stab them with his phallic shaped knife.

You know, I thought the title referred to penises that were also swords.

Here's an image of that Spaceballs scene, if you want to use it as the picture.

Grrr, markup has issues. So here's a link right here and you can just copy it into the OP if you decide to use it.

Literalized in Its Always Time: SB's penis is detachable, and when (s)he detaches it, it turns into a sword. (Or So I Heard.)

In A Song of Ice and Fire there are many, many, many expamles.

Most notably, in A Dance with Dragons where Lady Dayne talks about losing her virginity to Brandon Stark (Ned's Brother)

^ Lady Dustin you mean, iirc. Not sure about other examples in the series. Sort of a variant, but Aero Hotah and that creepy jailer in Dance seem to take an I Call Her Vera relationship with their weapons to near Cargo Ship levels.

Would this count, or does this trope require visual symbolism?

    Literature:
    • In the Star Trek novel, Time for Yesterday, this is subtly lampshaded as a Running Gag. First, it's noted that Zar preferred "hand - and - a - half" swords, which are also known as "bastard swords". Later, Wynn teases Zar about giving her a sword for a present at the handfasting ceremony after he'd kidnapped her earlier, reminding him that such an unusual present would be seen as symbolic.

^ Speak in a full sentence, please.

This actually reminds me of Compensating For Something.

We already have Gun In My Pocket for weapons being phallic metaphors.

I've folded most of the examples from here into Gun In My Pocket and added Weapon As Penis as a redirect to that. I'm going to go ahead and discard this now, but let me list here the examples that I couldn't use, in case anyone wants to fix 'em:
