"Never show a good movie in the middle of your crappy movie."
Albert Einstein once said "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." Works that use this trope not only fail to hide their sources but create "original" works that are entirely dependent upon the audience recognizing their sources. This can create several problems, the biggest of which is that it is a bad idea to get your audience thinking about something they'd rather watch again or reread rather than continuing on with your work.
