I'd like to take a Title Bin title and use it: How Appropriate You Fight Like A Cow.

I checked around and this doesn't appear to be in the Wiki: Discussion, especially Witty Banter or Volleying Insults, during a swordfight. For example: the entire Westley/Inigo fight in The Princess Bride, chunks of Revolutionary Girl Utena, the original Monkey Island fights, and (from Wikipedia) Cyrano de Bergerac.

Unless I missed it?

Morgan Wick: I doubt we have it. Related to Hannibal Lecture and Not So Fast.

We going to limit this to swordfights? There are probably plenty of hand-to-hand combat examples as well, especially in Jackie Chan movies.

I'm surprised we don't already have this. This is a potentially huge entry. Battle Banter?

Shire: No reason to limit it to swordfights, though I think the archetypal examples are such--see above.

Bran: I definitely like the "How Appropriate" part, not just because it's a Title Bin entry, but if there's outcry, I'm not averse to changing it.

Note to self. Remember to check and see if you're Known.

In an issue of the "Dirty Pair" comic, they mentioned taking a "Combat Quips" class as part of their training.

Morgan Wick: You could just edit your post without changing anything once you're logged in, which should transfer the tagging to you. Though I hope that came off of two different computers, instead of one computer dropping your cookie.

This was a YKTTW some time ago, but nobody launched it. I think the agreed-on name then was Battle Prattle or some such, but there was another name suggested that I thought was better. I'll have to see if I can remember it.

I prefer Battle Banter and Battle Prattle over that cow title.

I definitely like the cow title because I'm a huge Monkey Island fan. =D

Morgan: Yeah, that's what happened. First I updated at work, then at home. Both times, I forgot to get known.

If I'd known about the editing trick I'd have done that.

I'm voting for How Appropriate You Fight Like A Cow, since it's awesome. Oh, and there are enough geeks familiar with Monkey Island that it's not really that obscure...

If you insist, how about You Fight Like A Cow instead, to get around the missing comma?

Andyroid: I was fond of the name Battle Prattle, but You Fight Like A Cow works too.

Morgan Wick: Let's see if Tanto (or anyone else) can dredge up the old YKTTW, unless it was on the "old" YKTTW.

Well, I dug it up, but apparently my memory was faulty -- there weren't really all that many good names in it. Just Battle Prattle and Is That The Best You Can Do, along with a suggestion by me that it should cross-reference with Warrior Therapist.

Battle Prattle is a bit cutesy; Is That The Best You Can Do feels...weak.

You Fight Like A Cow definitely flows better, and is the same reference, so I'll go for that.

I suggest including the a link to this Order Of The Stick comic http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0390.html Specifically the second to last panel: "Among other abilities, it will allow you to substitute your Charisma bonus for your strength bonus to danage when you weild a rapier- as long as you can make a witty pun or spout a catch-phrase when you attack." And as a Monkey Island fan, I'm all over How Appropriate You Fight Like A Cow

"So - I see your schwartz is as big as mine. Let's see how you wield it!" Came to mind. From Spaceballs.

No one seems to have come up with something better. Barring any last-minute comments, I'd like to pull the trigger on this one...?

    Go for it.
