Old HBO show
I don't know what 'Laconic' means.
Tropeworthy?

Hey, very new here. Looking for a show that has been driving me crazy for years. I think it was from HBO family, was a series of vignettes, would be considered 'dark' or 'macabre', perhaps now could be described as steam punk. I remember a bit about a tomato and a potato, lovers, singing the 'let;s call the whole thing off' song. Also, something to do with a string.

Sometimes it would have shorts that looked almost like paper dolls, I don't remember seeing anything above the neck, and one was about the assassination of Lincoln in the theater?

This has seriously been bugging me for years. Probably from the mid 90s.

Any ideas?
