Time To NSFW

Okay, maybe this won't go anywhere, but this is not so much a "trope" as a concept, or a rule.

Basically, any video game that has a level editor will inevitably have a NSFW-themed level.
  • WarioWare DIY lets you make your own "microgames", and it wasn't long before people made ones themed after getting boners.
  • LittleBigPlanet quickly got penis-themed levels shortly after launch. There was a YouTube video of a level in which you rode a giant penis with rockets attached.

Anyway, maybe this article wouldn't be filled with examples, but maybe it could work as a "rule", similar to the existence of "Start To Crate" and "Rule 34", etc.

    One Word: "Sporn".

Video Game Perversion Potential could encompass anything the player lets you edit that will inevitably be grounds for perversion. Hello Insert Character Name Here is a common offender.

    • Shortly after the release of the Spore demo that let you play with the creature editor penis shaped creatures were created en masse. This was before the game was even released.
    • Patches for The Sims games remove the mosaic blur over naked sims. Everyone is smooth like Ken and Barbie though.
    • Nude character models were created for The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind.
    • Nude Raider cheats were long rumored and the subject of a few April fool's jokes but never really existed. PC players with modding capabilities however...

I think it was in Brawl Taunts, in any case a Flash movie where Kirby and another character from SSBB are discussing the level editor, and how it's incredibly flexible, can't wait to see what the players are going to come up with... then the camera pans out to show they're standing on a giant penis. Cue Cluster F Bomb from Kirby.

I think it's safe to say that EVERY game which allows even the slightest graphic modding will have a nude mod. This goes double for games players are actually encouraged to create mods for, like Bethesda games (TES, Fallout) or The Sims.

Would this work without examples, if it literally occurs to everything?

Or would notable (yeah, I know) examples like the ones above go here?

Belive it or not, but there are games designed with this as a core feature. Naturally, they do get a bit more detailed than other examples.

I had another name in mind.

    "Start To Penis"

It's witty, it's concise, and it's memorable. It makes more sense than Time To NSFW; the only reason I changed it to this is because I figured more people would look at the YKTTW entry this way.

Is Start To Penis (as in, similar to Start To Crate) a good name?

User Generated Porn, to go with the term "User Generated Content" for these tools.

Hmm. Maybe. Start To Penis implies that it won't be long util someone makes NSFW content. User Generated Porn simply refers to the content. Both are appropriate. Yours is easier to readily understand by name upon sight. I'd say my name is more witty and funny, but would make people think "what?" until they clicked on it (though it would probably be easy to remember afterward).

Votes on which name is better? Start To Penis or User Generated Porn?

I actually think Video Game Perversion Potential would work better because then you could include abusing camera angles (such as looking up Ashley's skirt in Resident Evil 4).

You might be right. It's consistent with other titles, and it fits with what it's about.

I like Video Game Perversion Potential.

An example I know is manipulating camera angles in Smash Bros to place the characters in compromising positions.

I agree with Video Game Perversion Potential, and if this trope launches with any other name, I'll drag it kicking and screaming to the Trope Repair Forum. ("Yog Sothoth Says" my ass..."Called By Cthulhu", dammit!)

If camera angle abuse counts, then Kairi in Kingdom Hearts 2 is also a case of this, although a less obvious one.

I'd call it Videogame Perversity Potential, myself. This is also related to Rule Thirty Four, though that deals instead with pornographic material being created for any franchise, no matter how obscure or seemingly unsuitable it would be.

As mentioned before, Hello Insert Name Here tends to lead to examples of this, with immature players naming characters rude things like "Dongs" or "Boner".

I'd break this down into two types:

    1. Abusing In Game Functions, such as camera angles, machinima, or Hello Insert Name Here or Dialogue Tree. 2. Modifying Game Content, such as changing skins or designing penis levels.
