Obsessive Love Letter

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
Love Letters generally range from sweet to awkward. But occasionally, they're downright creepy. This usually occurs when a character gets love letters from an obsessive admirer. Typically, there's one creepy letter to start with, but as the recipient doesn't respond, it's followed by dozens more, all written individually and personalized.

The creepiness of the letters can vary, from mild versions where the writer knows way too much about the recipient to extreme versions where the letters are filled with threats alongside the endearments, to anything in between. The one constant is that the letter will always creep the recipient out.

Subtrope to Love Letter. See also Stalker with a Crush and Love Letter Lunacy.

A result of this TRS thread, Love Letter Obsession is here to gather more than three examples. Other feedback is, of course, welcome.

Something brought up in TRS is that Obsessive Love Letter might be a better name. I agree; others' thoughts?

^^ It shows signs of turning into a love letter toward the end, what with the "we should be together too" part.

There was a manga (I can't remember the name well) where a girl asking the Main character and her friend for help with a Stalker With A Crush shows them the love letters she's been receiving from them - which were rather disturbing.
"These aren't love letters - they're stalker notes!"

Perhaps [Help!] The Girl I Like Won't Respond to My Emails ? A 2chan conversation (supposedly, it may well be fictional) where a young japanese boy tries to get help with his love interest over 2chan and details sending the girl he is interested in literally hundreds of emails to get her attention.
