* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** [[spoiler: Wakko's wish is for two ha'pennies. However did he wish for that specifically or for 'enough to make everyone's dreams come true', given that the ha'pennies ultimately did that]]?
** [[spoiler:Did Yakko know that Dot faked her death and was acting along with her, or were his tears genuine?]]
** King Salazar seeming genuinely guilty about [[spoiler: presumably killing Dot,]] despite otherwise expressing glee at [[spoiler: attempting to kill the Warners.]] Did [[spoiler: Dot’s death act]] move Salazar to feel remorseful, did witnessing it prove to be too much for him, or was he trying to save face when his soldiers started to turn on him?
** Why did Dot have a cough, given that [[spoiler:the operation she wanted was plastic surgery rather than to treat any disease]]? Was she [[spoiler:pretending to be sick so her brothers would take her to get the surgery, thinking her life was in danger]]? Was she actually sick, but [[spoiler:only with a cold and thus the disease was unrelated to the surgery]]? Or, did she [[spoiler:start out genuinely terminally ill, only to get better when Wakko got to the wishing star, and then decide to get the plastic surgery afterwards]]?
* BrokenBase:
** It's a contested movie among the fanbase; some found it too saccharine and cloying (especially compared to the series's more anarchic sense of humor), or too humourless, but others didn't mind and thought it was a better finale than Episode 99 (which was mostly a standard episode as usual except for the musical tribute short).
** [[spoiler:Dot's fake death and the fact that she only needed plastic surgery to add a beauty mark to her face]] is also contested. Funny or too dark for its own good?
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** The Captain of the Guard, maaaan! He's the funny one, maaaan, the impossibly funny one! Who hasn't he made laugh, maaaan? Wrong! Wronng!
** Pinky and the Brain, like in the original Animaniacs series. It helps that out of all the side-characters from the show's other skits, they get the most scenes.
* FanficFuel: What were the Warner's lives like [[spoiler: growing up in the palace]]? And just how will they cope with [[spoiler: having to rule an entire kingdom by themselves]]?
* HarsherInHindsight:
** Brain's fourth wall break about ruling the world in the sequel is definitely this considering that Warner Bros cancelled plans for another movie and would also end the series as well afterwards. Softened by the return of Brain in the [[WesternAnimation/Animaniacs2020 2020 revival series]].
** Warner Bros were offered a chance to release ''Wakko's Wish'' in theaters, but they stuck with a straight to video release in order to avoid the movie from becoming a commercial flop; which it wound up being in the home video market.
** The movie's not so subtle depiction of the Time Warner buyout shows the kingdom of Warnerstock falling into disarray after Ticktockia takes control of it. In the years following the movie's release, Time Warner would fall into a similar situation after a string of bad business decisions[[note]]Wrestling/{{WCW}} losing the Monday night wars to Wrestling/{{WWE}} due to mismanagement, a brief merger with America Online that occurred just before the dot com bubble bursted, several theatrical animated flops, inner corporate competition amongst their divisions, etc. [[/note]]led them to shut down or sell off many of their subsidiaries before eventually being bought out themselves in 2018 by AT&T and would later be merged with Discovery Channel in 2022.
* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Creator/RobPaulsen, Creator/JessHarnell and Creator/TressMacNeille's performances in the emotional, dramatic, heartwarming, and tearjerking scenes show that they can do scenes like these if they need to. There had been reports that [=MacNeille=], Paulsen, and Harnell were in a tearful group hug after recording Dot's "death" scene.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** At the end of the movie, Dot's supposed illness is revealed to be [[spoiler: no more than plastic surgery to add a beauty mark to her face - or as she calls it, "a [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic cutie mark]]".]]
** The evil kingdom that took over Warnerstock being called "Ticktockia" is even funnier with the advent of the popular [=TikTok=] app taking over social media in the late 2010s-early 2020s.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: C'mon. Did you ''really'' think that [[spoiler:Dot would die?]]
* MoralEventHorizon:
** Salazar crosses it when he fires ''a cannon'' at the Warners, just to try to keep them from reaching the Wishing Star, and [[spoiler:seemingly kills Dot]].
** One could arguably say that [[spoiler:he crossed it long before the events of the movie, since it’s heavily implied that he ''killed'' the Warners’ parents, the original King and Queen, seized the throne, and left the young siblings on the street in poverty.]]
* NightmareFuel: Salazar is not without his comic moments, but he's otherwise a textbook example of VileVillainSaccharineShow: for every scene of him being funny, there's two of him being a genuine threat. [[spoiler: The WhamLine that strongly indicates he had the Warners’ parents murdered so he could seize the throne, talking about how he should had taken care of their children when he had the chance and later shooting two cannonballs at them (supposedly killing Dot with the first) shows just how much of an relentless man he is and how he has no problem with murdering royal figures and children as long he benefits from it]].
