* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: When Viola's gender is revealed before the winning championship game, Duke stops talking to her. Is it because he felt that she lied to him about some things while under the guise of Sebastian? Or is because he was [[{{Gayngst}} conflicted]] about still having feelings for her -- only while she was under the guise of [[IfItsYouItsOkay Sebastian]]?
%%* EnsembleDarkhorse: Creator/VinnieJones was an instant hit as the tough-but-fair Coach Dinklage.
* {{Cult Classic}}: Fans love the movie for its modern retelling of a Shakespeare play, and the fact that Creator/AmandaBynes is the star just adds another reason as to why so many are devoted to the movie.
* FanPreferredCouple: Most fanfiction about this film on Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn has Viola and Olivia ending up together rather than with their respective love interests, Duke and Sebastian. This is mostly due to flirting and build-up occurring between them rather than between Olivia and Sebastian. It also stems from fans feeling that Viola and Olivia have more chemistry than Duke and Viola.
* HarsherInHindsight: Creator/AmandaBynes being in the lead role as a SweetPollyOliver becomes a whole lot less entertaining when it came to light that she was constantly criticized by executives behind the scenes for her appearance growing up, with this movie where she plays someone passing off as a boy being one of the catalysts of her CreatorBreakdown later on down the line.
* HoYay:
** Some of Duke and Sebastian/Viola's bonding scenes come off as falling in love scenes. While she's still in the guise of Sebastian.
** Olivia and Viola, of course. Yeah, Olivia ends up with Sebastian in the end, but all that flirting, chemistry, and affection was between her and ''Viola'', not him.
