* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The one thing everyone can take away from this game is its amazing soundtrack, the rest of which you can check here (helps that David Bergeaud is still at the helm). But in the meantime:
** The second Pokitaru theme, the one that plays after the game's tutorial. A rather dissonantly tropical and jovial piece that's very much evocative of the original game's Pokitaru theme.
** Kalidon's theme. A dark and foreboding industrial piece that gives off the feeling that something just isn't quite right. Basically this game's answer to the first game's unforgettable BestLevelEver contender, the Gemlik Base.
** Kalidon's Skyboarding theme. Definitely sounding like a track from the first game or Going Commando, this track really puts you in a racing mood and then some!
** The Dream World's second theme. Basically the (literal) musical equivalent of NightmareFuel, this track is as trippy as the latter half of Ratchet's DreamSequence is to complete.
** The theme that plays while Escaping Clank. ItMakesSenseInContext aside, this track really takes the desperation of escaping Clank's insides before being atomized by his security system and runs with it… literally.
** The theme for the game's FinalBoss, . The stakes and tension are at an all-time high as the titular duo go out of their way to stop a madman's lust for power.
* BileFascination: There are still people who play this game and Secret Agent Clank mainly for the GoodBadBugs, the recycled contents from the first game, and for how narmy the villains are.
* CompleteMonster: [[spoiler:Emperor Otto Destruct is the supreme leader of the Technomites, using the illusion of gaining respect and prosperity for his people to mask his own selfish agenda. Technology developed by himself and his people having killed the legendary parents of Captain Qwark years ago, Otto takes advantage of this to manipulate the pliable Qwark into his abused stooge, uncaring of the emotional trauma he inflicts upon the man. After performing nightmarish experiments on Ratchet that make even the lighthearted Lombax feel violation and hatred, Otto reveals his final goal: to use an army of Ratchet clones to round up every last intelligent life form in the galaxy and transfer their minds into himself, leaving him as the most knowledgeable being in the universe while uncaring about what becomes of his victims and fellow Technomites, so long as he has all the power.]]
* FanonDiscontinuity: Some fans pretend this game and its sequel never happened.
* GoodBadBugs: The Fire-Bomb Armor allows the player to shoot a fireball out of their wrench on the third swing of a combo. If the player kills enough enemies with it, the Scorcher will upgrade. If the player hasn't bought the Scorcher yet, they can now get it for free... in the PSP version at least.
* HilariousInHindsight: Ratchet's disbelief in the Technomites (a long-lost race of Gadgeteer Geniuses) comes off as ArbitrarySkepticism after the Ratchet & Clank Future series revealed that the Lombaxes themselves were another long-lost race of Gadgeteer Geniuses.
* ItWasHisSled: The little girl is TheDragon. And she's not even real; "she's" actually a genderless robotic puppet and warship.
* Narm: The game's main villain Otto Destruct tries so hard to be the next Chairman Drek or Dr. Nefarious that it is comical but for all the wrong reasons.
* OlderThanTheyThink: The armor customization introduced in the series' latest installment actually originated here. Albeit with up to five pieces to collect per armor set instead of three in Rift Apart.
* OnlyTheCreatorDoesItRight: Technically, High Impact Games was made up of ex-Insomniacs, so they (in a sense) still were the creators, but they didn't have the funding or time to polish the game.
* PlayTheGameSkipTheStory: Opinions on the game's gameplay vary a bit, but most fans agree that the story is, at best, forgettable.
* PolishedPort: The [=PS2=] version: some glitches were fixed, the field of view is significantly increased giving you a far better view of your surroundings and the game controls better as a result of the [=PS2=]'s extra shoulder buttons and second analogue stick. The only real downside is that one cutscene was removed.
* ReplacementScrappy: Otto Destruct is widely viewed by fans as an expy of the original game's BigBad Chairman Drek, mixed with elements of Dr. Nefarious and Gleeman Vox. But in this case, he is nothing but a purely narmful character and does not have the cunning personality of the first or the LargeHam of the second.
* TheScrappy: "Luna" and Otto are despised by the fanbase: Luna for being ThatOneBoss, and Otto for his Narm and being a rehash of Chairman Drek.
* ScrappyWeapon:
** The Concussion Gun. Its the series typical shotgun weapon, but the damage dealt is truly abysmal, and to add insult to injury, its low ammo combined with this makes it a pain in the butt to upgrade.
** The Sniper Mine. It pales in comparison to the Flux Rifle and especially the Fusion Rifle before it, not only due to the game favoring close-range combat more than any other installment in the series (and hell, even the aforementioned weapons were still viable up close thanks to Lock-Strafe Mode), but for its damage output being especially bad for a sniper type weapon.
* SelfImposedChallenge: As usual for the series, beating the game using only the wrench. Fortunately, this is a tad easier this time around due to the bonuses many of the armors provide. For example, the Electroshock Armor will emit a surprisingly useful shockwave every time Ratchet performs a Hyper-Strike while the Mega Bomb armor causes Ratchet to TurnRed when he takes damage and blow up any unfortunate mook with a swing of the wrench.
* Sequelitis: Size Matters is often criticized by fans for a weaker story, lots of narm, several GoodBadBugs, recycled plots, and for coming after the highly popular Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked.
* SoBadItsGood: Many people enjoyed the game for all the wrong reasons, from the narmy-as-hell villain to the enjoyably broken bugs.
* ThatOneBoss:
** . It takes a long time to go down and its attacks are tough to avoid. And if you die, you have to go through the running-through-the-field sequence and cutscene again.
** Before that, there is the Warpship expy, who can summon endless backup to aid it. Ratchet's weapons will target them instead of the boss, making it more frustrating.
** The FinalBoss, . The chase sequence with him is tolerable at best, and the Giant Clank portion is actually pretty fun, but short. It's the final one-on-one fight portion with him as Ratchet that's the most infuriating. Craptons of health, attacks that are a pain in the ass to dodge, and a shield to contend with on top of that. DamageSpongeBoss is one thing, but this guy just takes it to the extreme. The only weapons that can even make a dent in his health are either a fully upgraded Shock Rocket, Laser Tracer Which keeps Ratchet still while he fires it, which is a massive liablity due to him constantly moving all over the place, aforementioned attacks notwithstanding. , or, of course, the RYNO Which is only available in Challenge Mode for a Understatement small price of just 9,999,000 bolts. .
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Fans have pointed out that Size Matters would've made a good intequel between the first and second games, given Ratchet's personality here, with a final chance of Mikey Kelly reprising the role to bridge his CharacterDevelopment. Instead, it is set after Up Your Arsenal, and implies Ratchet goes through AesopAmnesia. This may be why Insomniac has disregarded the game and its sequel altogether.
