Context YMMV / Niels

Go To

* AngstWhatAngst: Niels [[spoiler: loses one of his eyes completely]] and doesn't even seem to mind, instantly making polite and silly puns to the man who attacked him.
** Though considering how his parents taught him to always keep up appearances, this is mostly likely an act of some kind.
** This could also be him realising he’s went waaaayyy overboard with his antics and realising he’s brought this over himself.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: The Jungle Fever plot. Duncan's much-hated cousin holds an 'African Pride' party. Niels shows up as a stereotypical white British Colonialist and acts ridiculously patronizing at everyone. Agent 300 does the same thing. HilarityEnsues.
* DieForOurShip: Parodied with Natalie in Yaoi and Yuri, where Yaoi Rule 3 says that she can't be in the comic since she isn't a blood relation, a faghag, or a bitch trying to break up Niels and Duncan. And then told that Yuri Rule 16 disqualifies her because she's black.
* DracoInLeatherPants: Since most of the comics delve into the wacky and adorable personal life of Duncan, Niels, and Natalie, it is impossible to keep fans from forgetting that they are the ''villains'' in the story. Every so often we're reminded ''hard,'' and as we're sitting there being floored, the artists' comments section will say something like "what, did you forget he was a bad guy?"
** Peter also gets similar treatment from his fans. The sane ones accept that he's not at all a nice guy and downright evil in his intentions. However, other fans find him to be funny and willingly looked over his depravity. [[TakeThat Humon made it very clear what she thought of his entire fanbase]] [[ParentalIncest by submitting a picture of Peter preparing to molest his underage daughter Lidy]]. Needless to say, fans and haters of Peter felt the Squick fast.
* FridgeBrilliance: When Niels's son (then also named Niels, later Magnus) mentions there's [[http://nielsg.com/blood-everywhere blood in the toilet]] of Niels' workplace, one could easily chalk it up to the company's...less-than-legal activities. [[spoiler: Then, later, we find out said son is actually a pre-op female-to-male transsexual...to be blunt, it's period blood]]
* HarsherInHindsight: Humon posted a silly music video on youtube, wherein one character sings in opera tones, "I'm not your boyfriend," in the general direction of Niels. It gets painful when one realizes that the singing man spurned Niels' love at one time, so Niels killed him.
* HilariousInHindsight: In the very first Niels picture, Humon comments that
-->"You can decide for yourself if he gets the classic bisexual bad-guy ending and gets shot in the head. :P"
** Then along comes 300 to do just that. Depending on how morbid you are, it's either this or the above.
* JerkassWoobie: Duncan in the 'Perfect Fit' storyline. He was rather pushy about trying to get Natalie to turn bisexual (unsuccessfully). We find out it's out of a misguided hope that if his wife turns bi, Duncan can feel less insecure about his own bisexuality.
* MoralEventHorizon: Humon just loves to remind us in the most spectacular ways that we're not supposed to think Niels is a good person. [[http://humon.deviantart.com/#/d3kqrwc Case in point.]]
* TearJerker: The events leading up to 250 and Irene's divorce.
* TheWoobie: Duncan, Peter's daughter, Agent 250, Thomas.
