* CrossesTheLineTwice: Jerry doing ''{{blackface}}'' to play Music/FatsWaller. It's so egregiously offensive it loops back around to being funny.
* DesignatedVillain: The copyright lawyers seem to think this is what they are. They're not.
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Pretty much all of the "special effects" of the sweded tapes. ''Ghostbusters'' in particular.
** "When you're walking down the street, and you see a little ghost, whatcha going do about, GHOSTBUSTAAAS!"
** When Jerry [[{{Blackface}} tries to play Fats]].
* GeniusBonus: In making their final film, the characters steal a train. Since it's a diesel, they (very poorly) dress it up as a steam locomotive. The diesel is an ALCO RS-3. Of the three biggest builders of diesels (the other 2 being GM-EMD and GE) ALCO was the only one to have built steam locomotives.
* HarsherInHindsight / HilariousInHindsight: One minor plot-point is that the VHS Rental Store Owner visits other rental stores, such as Blockbuster Video, to see how they are so successful and hopefully incorporate those elements into his store, since VHS's are out-of-date. This takes on a different light when in the 2010s Blockbuster and most other video rental stores went out of business ''because'' they couldn't adapt to the times and were themselves out-of-date. It doesn't help that in Blockbuster's case, they failed because of their poor decision making.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: See the bittersweet ending entry.
* MemeticBadass: Fats is given this treatment in universe.
* MemeticMutation: Homemade scene-for-scene recreations have been around for some time. But this is the movie that coined the term "sweding/sweded," inspired and encouraged homemade remakes, either of movies or their trailers.
* {{Narm}}: In-universe. Everyone was laughing at Jerry's performance in what was supposed to be a serious scene.
* OneSceneWonder: Creator/SigourneyWeaver as the copyright lawyer.
* {{Squick}}: Was it ''really'' necessary, in the scene where Jerry [[ItMakesSenseInContext pisses away his magnetism]], to give us a close up of the magnetized urine (which is a bizarre viscous milky yellow color) running down the drain?
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The first Sweded film, and the one that gets the most screentime, is ''Ghostbusters''. Then Sigourney Weaver (who appeared in ''Ghostbusters'') shows up, and absolutely nothing is done with this.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The marquee shown during the montage listed movies that didn't get the sweded treatment. They even mentioned sweding ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' but never showed any footage related to that joke.
