* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: What would you expect from a game set on a festival?
** ''[=MotorStorm=]'' has Breed by Music/{{Nirvana}}, Before I Forget by Music/{{Slipknot}}, Slam by [[Music/PendulumBand Pendulum]], Woman by Music/{{Wolfmother}}, Hell Above the Water by Music/{{Curve}}, among others.
** ''Pacific Rift'' has Davidian by Music/MachineHead, Sick Sick Sick by Music/QueensOfTheStoneAge, Tarantula by Pendulum, Stompbox by the Qemists, Black Gloves by the Bloody Beetroots and that extras menu music.
** ''Arctic Edge'' has Omen by Music/TheProdigy, Tick Tick Boom by Music/TheHives, Go with the Flow by Queens of the Stone Age and the Celldweller Remix of Propane Nightmares by Pendulum.
** ''Apocalypse'' has a soundtrack inspired by '70s disaster movies by Klaus Badelt, remixed by Noisia, Elite Force and DJ Shadow.
* EvenBetterSequel: The first game was mostly well-received but received criticism for its lack of content (only 8 tracks, and no alternate modes up until a downloadable Time Attack well after the release), a visually-repetitive setting, a lack of offline multiplayer, and LoadsAndLoadsOfLoading. ''Pacific Rift'' significantly improved on all of these issues: twice the tracks, up to 4-players offline, three times more vehicles and better loading times. Shame online has been shut down on 2012.
* GameBreaker: Rally Cars in ''[=MotorStorm=]'', Mudpluggers and Big Rigs in ''Pacific Rift'' and Rally Cars and Superminis on ''Apocalypse''.
** To be more precise, the Molotov Drago is this on the first two games, being considered ''the'' car of the franchise by the best players of the game.
** Supercars would be on RC, except you only race against three of the same class.
* GoodBadBugs:
** In ''Pacific Rift'', on the track Badlands if you are using a Racing Truck or the Italia Velocità (the game's expy to Pikes Peak's Suzuki Escudo), there are two large puddles that will accelerate the car to an insane speed.
** Since online has been shut down for Pacific Rift, it has rendered several vehicles and trophies impossible to unlock. However, for unknown reasons, the game may glitch and and say you have unlocked the Platinum trophy,(though you actually haven't) and will automatically give you the Atlas Earthquake, normally unlocked for obtaining said trophy.
* HarsherInHindsight: ''Apocalypse'' had the bad luck of being released around two deadly earthquakes. The New Zealand release was pulled following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Sony then temporarily halted the Australian distribution of the game and postponed its American release following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
* ThatOneLevel: To go with the games notorious difficulty, there are several tracks that will test your patience.
** Coyote Rage from Monument Valley certainly lives up to its name. A tight, claustrophobic track where choosing the right route is crucial. Wouldn't be so bad, [[EarlyGameHell if not for some of the earliest races taking place on it]].
** Sidewinder Gulch is a hell of a track that seems to represent a difficulty spike in the game. Long, with multiple routes and a ton of obstacles, this track will put you to the test.
** Dust Devil, one of, if not the, longest track in the game, and another one where proper choice of routes is necessary to win.
** Over to Pacific Rift, The Edge. The first half isn't bad, and is actually very streamlined. However, the second section, the titular edge, is a long drive across the side of a mountain. One wrong move and you'll be falling off in no time. It can also be hard to build up acceleration after you respawn.
** Scorched, Wildfire, Darkfire Swamp and all the Volcanic tracks all have a common theme, lava, which not only makes your boost meter rise much faster, but will instantly wreck your vehicle if you touch it. Individually, Scorched has plenty of obstacles and that damn forest section, Wildfire, like The Edge, has several sloped pathways and Darkfire Swamp, while somewhat tame compared to the others, has that final stretch where it's all to easy to end up falling in lava.
** While they aren't too much harder than any other track, the six completely original DLC tracks all seem to have their AI set higher than the regular tracks do, resulting in somewhat of a challenge, even on easy.
** Ascension is the only notably hard track from Arctic Edge, mostly on account of how long it is.
** Apocalypse has any track where the incidents get out of hand, but the two most notable ones would be Coach Party and Suburban Shakedown. Both are incredibly chaotic, with things constantly exploding and falling over.
