  • Crowning Music of Awesome: What would you expect from a game set on a festival?
    • MotorStorm has Breed by Nirvana, Before I Forget by Slipknot, Slam by Pendulum, Woman by Wolfmother, Hell Above the Water by Curve, among others.
    • Pacific Rift has Davidian by Machine Head, Sick Sick Sick by Queens of the Stone Age, Tarantula by Pendulum, Stompbox by the Qemists, Black Gloves by the Bloody Beetroots and that extras menu music.
    • Artic Edge has Omen by The Prodigy, Tick Tick Boom by The Hives, Go with the Flow by Queens of the Stone Age and the Celldweller Remix of Propane Nightmares by Pendulum.
    • Apocalypse has a soundtrack inspired by '70s disaster movies by Klaus Badelt, remixed by Noisia, Elite Force and DJ Shadow.
  • Even Better Sequel: The first game was mostly well-received but received criticism for its lack of content (only 8 tracks, and no alternate modes up until a downloadable Time Attack well after the release), a visually-repetitive setting, a lack of offline multiplayer, and Loads and Loads of Loading. Pacific Rift significantly improved on all of these issues: twice the tracks, up to 4-players offline, three times more vehicles and better loading times. Shame online has been shut down on 2012.
  • Game Breaker: Rally Cars in MotorStorm, Mudpluggers and Big Rigs in Pacific Rift and Rally Cars and Superminis on Apocalypse.
    • To be more precise, the Molotov Drago is this on the first two games, being considered the car of the franchise by the best players of the game.
    • Supercars would be on RC, except you only race against three of the same class.
  • Good Bad Bugs: In Pacific Rift, if you are racing a Racing Truck or the Italia Velocità (the game's expy to Pikes Peak's Suzuki Escudo) there's a puddle that will speed up the car to insane speeds.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Apocalypse was initially released in Europe and Australia around the time of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. Sony temporarily halted the Australian distribution of the game and postponed its American release in response.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: In case you were unaware that Motorstorm R.C. was brought to you by Scion, the loading screens will gladly remind you that "MOTORSTORM R.C. WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY SCION AND YOU WOULD BE EXTREMELY COOL IF YOU OWNED A SCION SO YOU SHOULD BUY ONE!" Motorstorm R.C. isn't just brought to you by Scion, its also a Motorstorm game In-Name-Only. Also the Scion handles beter than all the unlicensed Expy cars... I wonder why.
    • By the game design that's averted: all vehicles from a class should have the same speed and handling, only changing hitboxes and little nuances.
  • Tier-Induced Scrappy: The Beelzebuggy Spaceframe II from Pacific Rift, on the low-tier side. Notable for understeer, the little effort at which it rolls and being larger (read: more vulnerable) than most Buggies.
    • To a lesser extent, the Italia Velocità. It's excessive bodywork and low hanging front bumper aren't really that helpful in an off-road racing game.
