Even if the author takes some liberties with who the Daoine Sidhe or Tuatha de Dannan actually were in mythology, she tends to use names of genuine mythological figures. My guess is that she'll turn out to be a Celtic goddess whose name can be anglicised to 'Annie' - it's an alias she's gone by more than once. Plus, when Toby tastes her blood, she sees Black Annis (Danu) and Gentle Annie (Anann of the Morrigan) as the Luidaeg's closest sisters. Aine is a possibility.

Also, do we ever find out exactly what Marcia is a quarter-blood of? Marianne was apparently a Coblynau, which are one of the few races that can put permanent spells into objects. Even if Marcia doesn't turn out to be Marianne, something is definitely up with her and the Windermeres.
124	* Yeah, but how and why would a pureblood (I'm assuming since it's always mentioned if someone ISN'T a pureblood) Coblynau pass herself off as a quarter-blooded changeling? That seems like a stretch, to say the least. My theory is that Marcia has been suborned into being a spy for some bad guy or girl (she doesn't seem happy in certain reactions that have been mentioned) and has to report back on anything she hears, and knows just enough to mentally red flag at Windermeres.
125	* I will go even further. Marcia is not only Marianne, she is also the latest secret alias of the Coblynau Firstborn. In ''Dreams and Slumbers'' we learn that the Luidaeg knew Marianne and apparently liked her (if her reaction after hearing Mariannes name is anything to go by), the Luidaeg liking somebody is already noteworthy. Marianne also seemed to know more about the Luidaeg then most people do, the Luidaeg seemed surprised that Arden already knew about how she operated and Marianne was the one who told Arden about the Luidaeg. As for Marcia, the way she drops her ditzy behavior when things are really serious seems suspicious. For example when Eira invaded Goldengreen; everyone was busy crapping their pants, Dean was angry, but Marcia was completely calm. At first I thought that to be "things are sooo far beyond panic" fatalism, but what if Marcia really was that calm? Because she knew that if she really had to she could take Eira on? Marcia/Marianne being Firstborn would also explain the apparent change from pureblood to changeling. Toby mentions several times that the Luidaegs human disguise is so good that even when she knows what to look for she can't even see any ''hints'' that an illusion is there. Who says another Firstborn can't weave disguises that are just as good?
126	* Also in addition to the above in ''The Unkindest Tide'' gives more support to the theory that Marcia is more than she seems. [[spoiler: Both the Luidaeg and the Amphitrite note how there is something off about Marcia but dont seem to be able to tell what it is. Toby interfered when Amphitrite tried asking Marcia directly. Luidaeg asked her about the fact that she seems like she can resist the sirens call of the selkie hide near the water (toby had issues with containing the desire to put it on and she is mostly fae). 127	* I will go even further than that: Marcia is Maeve. Maeve isn't dead, we know because her magic can still be called upon. She isn't dead, but she Rode, and was lost. Why not in the human world? In addition to her other suspicious strengths, like resisting the call of the selkies & not being affected by the transition into the Summerlands, there's other stuff that's suggestive. In The Winter Long, when Evening places a spell on Dean's courtiers, Marcia wasn't just calm, she was completely unaffected by it, and Evening isn't just Firstborn, she's one of the most powerful of the First, enough that she was able to kill even the Luidaeg. We know from The Unkindest Tide that Marcia has some secrets & responsibilities that she seemed genuinely sad not to be able to talk about, or possibly unable to. As discussed, the Luidaeg can masquerade as human, so why couldn't one of the Original Three do the same? perhaps most tellingly: Toby has mentioned about a billion times that Marcia reads to her as a thin-blooded changeling, but has never once mentioned her bloodline, despite the fact that she does so for pretty much ever other fae she meets, ever, and if she doesn't recognize their blood, she always makes a point to ask. Why not Marcia, then? Why do we know the race of everyone else, but not Marcia? Because she's not of any of the Fae races, she's a progenitor of them.

Someone in the Browns human ancestry was actually a Roane merlin and for some reason the Roane genes have become prominent in the youngest generation.

However forests around Portland are mostly made up of douglas fir, and douglas and noble firs are the most common trees used for Christmas trees. Other Summerlands forests tend to roughly have similar flora to their human world counterparts (redwoods in the Mists, maples in Canada). While the sheer amount of douglas fir present around Portland now is partly a result of humans replanting them after logging, even before the logging happened the forests of the area were mostly western red cedar, fir, and hemlock; pine forests are more common east of the Cascades in the high desert of central & eastern Oregon, and west along the coast, not in the Willamette Valley. It might just be a case of authors assuming [[MisplacedVegetation every evergreen is a pine]], but given how much emphasis is put on Toby's ability to identify and distinguish scents in the same book, it seems like an odd thing to mess up.
