* BoxOfficeBomb: Budget, $20 million. Box office, $21.4 million.
* CreatorKiller: An odd case of this happening not to an actor or director associated with a film, but rather a musician. "Cradle of Love", the Music/BillyIdol song whose music video was a VideoFullOfFilmClips from this film,[[note]]though none of the clips shown actually show Dice; this was probably due to his ban from MTV, who had the video on heavy rotation.[[/note]] was also Billy Idol's ''last'' hit single. Granted, Idol was largely thought of as an [[TheEighties 80's]] musician, so his career was likely doomed by TheNineties anyway, given the sharp turn pop culture took only a year or two later (same goes for Creator/AndrewDiceClay), which became especially noticeable following the failure of Idol's 1993 album ''Cyberpunk''. Nevertheless, it has been speculated that this movie worked as a Creator Killer for not only Clay, but Idol as well. Creator/RennyHarlin, on the other hand, still had a few years before he would suffer the same fate with the infamous one-two punch of ''Film/CutthroatIsland'' and ''Film/TheLongKissGoodnight''.
* HostilityOnTheSet: Screenwriter Daniel Waters said that he hated working with Creator/AndrewDiceClay, calling the experience "traumatic". It was so bad that he was happy when Clay accidentally credited him as "Bobby Rivers" during an interview, as he felt that was one step for his name not being attached.
* StarDerailingRole: The combined failure of this film and his concert film "Dice Rules" killed any possibility of Andrew Dice Clay making the transition from famously raunchy, stand-up comedian to major film star in the way Creator/EddieMurphy had managed years prior. Though Clay did [[CareerResurrection experience something of a revival]] in the 2010's as a serious character actor with acclaimed supporting roles in ''Film/BlueJasmine'' and ''Film/AStarIsBorn2018''.
* TechnologyMarchesOn: The reason Ford takes the cases of Johnny Crunch and Colleen Sutton in the first place, despite knowing that both are deceiving him, is because all of his clients bring him expensive (but tacky) gifts instead of money. Thanks to the internet, nowadays he could easily put those items for sale on [=eBay=] or another similar site.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The creator of Ford Fairlane, Rex Weiner, wrote an unused screenplay in the mid-1980s that was a straight FilmNoir set in the 1950s.
** Screenwriter Daniel Waters, who was initially hired to rewrite Weiner's script, claims his draft was a "''Film/BeverlyHillsCop''-style" vehicle intended for Creator/BruceWillis. Elements of Waters' script would end up being used in ''Film/HudsonHawk'' and ''Film/TheLastBoyScout''.
** Music/BillyIdol was originally going to play Smiley in the movie, but had to drop out at the last minute due to a serious motorcyle accident. He was eventually replaced by Creator/RobertEnglund, and this might explain why Englund does a British accent while playing the role.
** Creator/AndrewDiceClay wanted Creator/HowardStern to play Johnny Crunch, and even convinced him to audition for the role. The role was eventually played by Creator/GilbertGottfried.
** Stephen Pearcy, the lead singer of Music/{{Ratt}}, was considered to play Bobby Black. The role was eventually played by Vince Neil, the lead singer of Music/MotleyCrue.
