* DevelopmentGag: In the mission “Victory Imports Auto Garage”, there is an arcade game in the waiting room called ''SWAT: Urban Justice''. This was the title of the initial sequel planned for ''SWAT 3'', before it was cancelled.
* DummiedOut: Code and assets exist for doors rigged with traps, similar to VideoGame/SWAT3. A GameMod, [[http://www.moddb.com/mods/swat-elite-force Elite Force]], reactivates this feature.
* NetworkToTheRescue: After being retail-only since 2006, ''Website/GOGDotCom'' acquired the rights to it and began selling it digitally since 2017.
* TheOtherDarrin: While most of the main voice cast reprised their roles in ''The Stetchkov Syndicate'', the [[VoiceWithAnInternetConnection TOC operator]] and the player character "Lead" are voiced by new actors.

** [[http://irrationalgames.com/insider/irrational-behavior/introducing-irrational-behavior/ Sometime]] [[http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/01/12/irrational-reveals-canceled-zombie-game-division-9/ in late 2005]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyRlau2WwXY and early 2006]], Creator/IrrationalGames used the existing ''SWAT 4'' engine and assets as a proof-of-concept basis for their next game project, preemptively titled ''Division 9''. It was supposed to be a SurvivalHorror shooter with a squad-based nature (much like SWAT 4) and set in a noirish city after a mysterious ZombieApocalypse. The project was eventually scrapped in favour of concentrating on ''VideoGame/{{BioShock|1}}''. Three years later, Valve published [[VideoGame/Left4Dead a game with the same basic idea]].
** ''SWAT 4'' was initially previewed as ''SWAT: Urban Justice'', set in LA during the 225th anniversary, where there would be an all out war by the police against three criminal street gangs, it would feature full on character customization including female operatives. After the initial reveal, the game fell into DevelopmentHell and was eventually cancelled in favor of the more down-to-earth Irrational's game.
