Context Trivia / ResidentEvil6

* ActingForTwo: [[spoiler:Ada and Carla are voiced by Courtenay Taylor. Which is justified, since Carla is actually a doppelganger of the real Ada]].
* TheCastShowoff: Creator/TroyBaker, Jake's voice actor, sings the song that plays during the credits to Jake and Sherry's campaign.
* CreatorBacklash: In the ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil7Biohazard'' Document File, Capcom stated that, while this game sold well, its poor reception by critics and longtime fans was the moment when they realized that the series had fallen into a creative ditch and couldn't keep going the way it was if they wanted it to remain popular and successful. A lot of the back-to-basics, horror-focused approach that the developers took with ''[=RE7=]'' was driven by a sense that, if they made another main-series title like ''[=RE6=]'', it would probably be a FranchiseKiller.
* {{Defictionalization}}: Most of the tactical gear used by the BSAA, including their soft shell jackets were released by Capcom.
* MilestoneCelebration: This game marks the fifteenth anniversary of the franchise; as a special treat, gamers were able to purchase the first four mainline Platform/PlayStation games from the Japanese [=PlayStation=] Store for 3,000 yen through the end of March 2012.
* PromotedFanboy: Creator/MatthewMercer, Leon's voice actor, has been a long running fan of the series, with Leon being his favorite character.
* RecycledScript:
** Most of Leon's campaign uses settings and plot elements very familiar to longtime fans of the franchise. Among other things, he ends up [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil2 in a city filled with zombies]], to the point where he even meets a cop on his first day and goes to a gunshop to stay safe, and [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil1 ends up in a mansion with its own dark secrets]]. [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil4 Said mansion features several underground catacombs]].
** The same can be said of the other campaigns, to a degree. The game recycles the angry, brooding, vengeance-driven Chris from ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil5'' during the majority of his chapters. Jake and Sherry's campaign can be seen as a retake on ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil3Nemesis'' (with Ustanak filling in for Nemesis). Ada's campaign is much like her ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil4'' campaign, as she tails the rest of the cast and fills in details as she goes along.
* ShootTheMoney: ''Resident Evil 6'' has the highest budget of any in the franchise, possibly a greater budget than any Capcom game made previously, and we get to see all of that in the ridiculously amazing visuals.
* UrbanLegendOfZelda: Rumors circulated of an UpdatedRerelease known as ''Resident Evil 6: Final Hope'', which would have brought the game to UsefulNotes/WiiU as well as include an additional campaign for Claire.
* ViralMarketing:
** A pop-up shop called the "[[http://fieldmarketing.com/news/resident-evil-6-launches-with-human-flesh-butchers-shop-stunt/ Wesker & Son Human Butchery]]" appeared in Smithfield's, East London's famous meat market. It served herbs and edible meat that was designed to appear "human".
** Around the same time, food futurologist Dr. Morgaine Gaye and virologist Professor John Oxford [[https://venturebeat.com/2012/10/02/resident-evil-6-science-london/ gave lectures about topics related to the games at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Pathology Museum]].
** [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160314081214/http://www.nohopeleft.com/ No Hope Left]], an alternate reality game involving cryptic images and videos posted to a website, most of which involving graffiti from different parts of the world that reads, "No Hope Left".
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Creator/ChristianLanz would have reprised his role from ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilOperationRaccoonCity'' as Leon had it not been for scheduling conflicts.
