* AscendedFanon: Dennaton decided that a fancomic that shows Carl commit suicide by mobster on the dance floor he is found dead in-game, to be canon after reading it.
* ColbertBump: Most of the artists on both games' soundtracks saw a huge popularity boost. The same went for the synthwave genre, which was rather obscure but is now deeply associated with 80's aesthetic sensibilities and ultraviolence.
* DevelopmentGag: The first floor of "Full House" is a remake of the level layout of Super Carnage, the game's 2005 predecessor.
* ThrowItIn: The masks were originally purely cosmetic, until a developer accidentally touted their non-existent impact on gameplay in an interview. The abilities for each mask were quickly coded in afterwards, which explains their imbalance and complete overhaul for the sequel.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The soundtrack was going to have music from The Chromatics, but their licensing costs were well outside of Dennation's budget, forcing them to look at more obscure artists. This probably ended up a good thing, since, as noted above, the game's success gave a massive boost to the artists featured on the soundtrack.
** According to some unused files Showdown included two more female bodyguards.
** According to some unused text, Biker's confrontation with the Janitors was going to be handled through emails, where they go more indepth about their reasons for the events of the game.
** According to some unused text from the Cocaine Cowboy prototype Co-Op was being worked on before ultimately being removed due to technical issues.
* WorkingTitle: The game was originally titled Cocaine Cowboy, after the Miami drug trade documentary.
