* Other horror franchises such as ''Franchise/SilentHill'', ''VideoGame/FirstEncounterAssaultRecon'', and even ''VideoGame/AlienIsolation'' at the very least actually allow you to wield man-made weapons and likewise fight back against your enemies, but here in ''VideoGame/{{Slender}}''? No such mechanic exists ''at all'', and so your PlayerCharacter's pretty much a NonActionGuy in that you only have a handful of actions that you can take: turning off your flashlight to reduce the static build-up rate from looking at the Slender Man by 50%, placing anything that's opaque in between both yourself and him (and subsequently backing away from him), or even just flat-out '''running away''' from him.
* With every single page that you collect, the Slender Man becomes ''more and more'' persistent up until page seven where he's extremely fast and unpredictable, to the point where you're truly on edge with every single passing nanosecond since he can easily do literally ''whatever'' he wants with you, ''whenever'' he wants to do so by that point in the game.
* If you ever so manage to completely forget the Slender Man, even for just a brief moment in time, this game ''will still'' ignite the PrimalFear of the darkness within you, and also, once you combine that together with the thunderous noise that echoes louder and louder as you collect more pages from [[WebVideo/MarbleHornets Alex Kralie's notebook]], it's 100% ''guaranteed'' to induce an extreme case of [[ParanoiaFuel paranoia]] within you as well on top of that.
* The fear of what the Slender Man'll do to you if he catches you because some of the notes that you get imply that he won't just kill you, but [[FateWorseThanDeath he'll instead do something much worse]]. It's even worse still when you don't know just how true or false those suggestions are, greatly implying that either the writers are trying to encourage you to not get caught or even worse than that possibility, they themselves've already either witnessed or experienced it first-hand.
* What's easily the number one scariest place in the game? By far the building since he could very well be right there whenever you either turn around, look around the corner, or possibly even look right in front of yourself due to his extreme teleportation capabilities.
