!!Musicians
* Daryl Hall and John Oates come across as this. For example, the ''Rolling Stone'' cover where Hall has his arm around Oates and his hand is in the breast pocket of Oates' jacket; the headline on the cover even read "The Secret Life of Hall & Oates".
* Music/SnowPatrol's Gary Lightbody often unashamedly flirts with bandmates (usually Johnny or Nathan) during concerts.
* Music/OneDirection is full of this trope. A lot of fans think that Harry and Louis are or were romantically involved, due to the high level of Bromance between them. Although this pairing (known as [[PortmanteauCoupleName Larry Stylinson]] by some fans) is the most popular, all of the band members have been shipped with each other at some point or another. This results in a whole range of different [=OTPs=] that shippers support: Zayn/Niall, Zayn/Liam, Niall/Liam, Zayn/Harry, Harry/Niall, Liam/Louis, etc.
** This trope also applies to a lot of 1D songs, which some (usually [[LGBTFanbase LGBT]]) fans read [[HomoeroticSubtext queer subtext]] into. Examples include "They Don't Know About Us", "Home", and "End of the Day" (the latter is especially popular among [[LGBTFanbase lesbian/sapphic fans]]).
** The exact same thing applies with 1D's female counterparts Music/LittleMix. Perrie is probably the clearest case within the group. Remember when she kissed Leigh Anne during the X Factor final? Also, her face at Jade at the very start of the Mumford cover. Like with 1D, several [=OTPs=] exist, supported by shippers, eg: Lerrie (Leigh Anne and Perrie), Jadesy (Jade and Jesy), Jerrie (Jade and Perrie), Lesy (Leighanne and Jesy), Leighade, Lade or Jeigh (Leigh Anne and Jade), Pesy (Perrie and Jesy).
** Perrie and Leighanne kissed again very publicly on Keith Lemon Series/CelebrityJuice.
* Music/McFly:
** Harry Judd claims to be Dougie Poynter's boyfriend on his [[http://twitter.com/#!/mcflyharry twitter]].
** The band has even endorsed official names for the slash pairings used by the members: Pudd (Dougie Poynter/Harry Judd), Flones (Tom Fletcher/Danny Jones), Floynter (Fletcher/Poynter), Fludd (Fletcher/Judd), Pones (Poynter/Jones), and Junes (Judd/Jones).
* Norwegian death punk band Turbonegro is a deliberate invoking of the HardGay angle of this turned up to eleven, [[SerialEscalation and then some]].
* Russian singing duo Music/{{Tatu}} were presented as lesbians to appeal to a [[YuriFan certain demographic]] and sang songs dripping with LesYay. Naturally, it was [[FauxYay only a publicity gimmick]].
* If we're going for bands that have, uh, gayed it up to sell albums, this list could get very long indeed. [[Music/EinsturzendeNeubauten Blixa Bargeld]] and Music/NickCave have kissed on stage. Don't read too much into it. (Or if you're that kind of fan, go for it.)
* Quite a few fans ship John Frusciante and Anthony Kiedis of the Music/RedHotChiliPeppers together, based on evidence from the "Knock me down" and the "Taste the Pain" videos, both times where Anthony kisses John, who reciprocates, going so far as to try to French kiss Anthony during the "Taste the Pain" video. Also, in the "Warped" video, Anthony and ex-guitarist Dave Navarro kissed (with a lot of tongue). The band as a whole can be very affectionate with each other: a lot of hugging, sometimes even kissing onstage (mostly involving Flea and Anthony).
* Music/OliviaRodrigo: By only taking the music video of "deja vu" into account, one might be forgiven for thinking the song is about the breakup of two female lovers. The way Olivia longingly stars at the new girl while hiding is most telling; the scene of her wrecking the TV screens in rage can be interpreted as the heartbreak for not being able to be with the girl anymore. Furthermore, the other girl wearing the same outfits as Olivia can be seen as missing her ex-girlfriend so much that she can only wear Olivia's clothes and go to the places where they had dates alone to reminisce. It doesn't help that the (male) ex the lyrics refer to doesn't appear anywhere in the video.
* Just about the whole current batch of "emo" bands like to play up the [[FauxYay stagegay]], either as a statement or as FanService. Judging by the screeching fangirls, it's appreciated.
* Music/DavidBowie during his Ziggy Stardust days with guitarist Mick Ronson, to the point of simulating oral sex during performances.
** Not to mention that his ex-wife claims to have once found him and [[Music/TheRollingStonesBand Mick Jagger]] in bed together.
** He also had this dynamic with [[Music/{{Queen}} Freddie Mercury]]. When he was questioned about their relationship following the release of "Under Pressure", we got this exchange:
-->'''Interviewer:''' Are you gay?
-->'''Bowie:''' No, I'm just [[HaveAGayOldTime very happy]]
* Despite heavy metal still having a fairly homophobic fanbase (unlike emo bands), it is clear that for a number of musicians in the genre ''it is not so'':
** Music/{{Metallica}}'s drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist Kirk Hammett, for example, like to kiss. Quite a bit.
** Music/{{Rammstein}}. Everything about Rammstein, who make it RatedMForManly. The band's Till Lindemann is known for doing filthy, filthy things to keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz, ones involving a huge dildo that shoots liquor during the performance of a song with the general meaning of "bend over". They were even arrested for it!
*** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWkuQsveaUA Mann Gegen Mann]], which doesn't have much in the way of direct band-member Ho Yay, but it couldn't get any gayer if you dropped it in a vat of pixie dust and Astroglide. Which definitely proves that these dudes aren't too bothered by the notion of, well, rubbing it up against other manly, sweaty dudes.
*** Richard, the guitarist, can't even keep it in the band, as seen when the band, minus Till, played with Music/MarilynManson at a German award show. Afterwards, Manson presented them with several awards by kneeling down and handing them to Richard, who said "Thank you for playing with us" in the most pornographic voice possible. Emigrate, his side band, also did a song with Manson on vocals on their second album. Manson revealed that Richard dragged him in the studio and made him do it, even though he kept insisting Richard's vocals were far better. Also, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo, there's one non-Rammstein celebrity at Till's funeral in the Haifisch video. Marilyn Manson.
*** It's important to note that Rammstein themselves have called it "a six-way marriage". They also all have done stuff in drag.
*** Till's solo project "Lindemann" takes it one step further with the song "Ladyboy". It's all about how much he loves his ladyboy. Who is his ladyboy? No idea.
** The bandmembers of Music/ChildrenOfBodom are very affectionate with each other. Especially singer/guitarist Alexi Laiho and genius keyboardist Janne Wirmen, who go on record by saying their constant snuggling and kissing on stage during solos is because they "get so ''intense'' by the medium of heavy metal..." It is not clear why they also often make out ''offstage''. Alexi claims it's a "musical/personal relationship kind of deal."
** The shows of power metal daddies Music/{{Helloween}} have seen, for the last few years, singer Andi Deris grabbing bassist Markus Grosskopf (who Andi also introduces as "the man with the ''loveliest'' curls of Germany") and kissing him. With a ''lot'' of tongue. The whole ho yay of the band gets cranked to eleven when Gamma Ray ("sister" band whose members also gleefully indulge in kissing, hugging, and shameless flirting) gets added to the mix. During the recent ''Hellish Rock'' tour, where the two bands toured together and even played two songs together at the end, this troper has seen several ho yay moments, up to and including faces being showed into crotches, butt-pinching, and tongue wrestling.
** Of course, Rob Halford from Music/JudasPriest is beyond the ho yay stage, since he came out. "Hell Bent For Leather", "Turbo Lover", ''"Eat You Alive"''? How did people not see this coming? It is hilarious how many homophobic metalheads are unknowingly dressing up as leathermen. Thank you Mr. Halford, thank you.
** Music/DevinTownsend has this with his alter-ego Ziltoid the Omniscient and... himself. [[ScrewYourself Yeah...]] On-stage he jokingly pretended to make out with a costumed version of Z and looked like he was about to go downtown on him before breaking off. Also they have back-and-forths in live shows where they duel each other on guitars and hurl insults at each other in what could be seen as SlapSlapKiss ("suck that, fag-nipples!"). In an interview with [[MakesSenseInContext himself]] he ended by saying he would then go lube up and wait for [himself]. This is hardly strange considering the man made a song called "The Mighty Masturbator".
** Sabaton guitarists Chris Rörland and Thobbe Englund are [[http://41.media.tumblr.com/936b21d1261000647358a474471c2b0e/tumblr_nbgvwkgyfu1tjl6zxo1_500.jpg very]], [[http://31.media.tumblr.com/608e64fa48103d9d605b3d6c130a94c1/tumblr_namixauE8A1tjl6zxo9_250.gif very]] [[http://38.media.tumblr.com/582b6117e27e5ac17fce764f987fb551/tumblr_n9hnoqxeCd1r54mc8o1_400.gif close]]. Fans have even coined the ship name 'Chrobbe' for them.
** German metal group Accept received some minor controversy in America for perceived gay themes on their 1983 album ''Balls To The Wall'': The cover art depicted the lower half of a man holding a pair of wooden balls while wearing a leather jacket and black underwear, some editions included a fold-out poster of the band members posing nude together, and the songs "London Leatherboys" and "Love Child" seem to be about gay men. The band have maintained that only "Love Child" was intentional (despite the title, "London Leatherboys" was meant to be about bikers, not leather men).
* Music/IronMaiden without a doubt.
** There's plenty of pictures where they're shirtless together, not to mention a photo of them in a bath, all naked (seen on the Early Days documentary). Then of course, Dave and 'Arry's HeterosexualLifePartners relationship, Bruce and Arry together in pictures, etc. They seem to all be aware of it though and make plenty of jokes about it.
** Bruce's example of meeting 'Arry for the first time since the Raising Hell show:
-->I think we were both a bit nervous. But as soon as we walked in the room, we gave each other a big hug and it evaporated. Literally, like, boof! Gone. And we both just chatted away ... And then, of course, we all ended up going down the pub. One thing led to another and we all woke up with thick heads the next day!
* Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore of Music/DeepPurple were close friends, but then they started hating each other and Blackmore drove Gillan out of the band. In response to a question about whether he spoke to Blackmore, Gillan said, "No, I don’t talk to him at all. That asshole—-I will never speak to him again, as far as I’m concerned. I loved Ritchie, though. I used to be his roommate and everything was fine. We all respect Ritchie for what he did--the foundation. But he turned into a weird guy and the day he walked out of the tour was the day the clouds disappeared and the day the sunshine came out and we haven’t looked back since. And there are certain personal issues that I have with Ritchie, which means that I will never speak to him again. Nothing I’m going to discuss publicly, but deeply personal stuff. As far as I’m concerned, the divorce came a long time ago. I never want to see or hear of him again."
** Gillan also wrote the breathtakingly homoerotic song "Smooth Dancer" about Blackmore, featuring such lyrics as "I want to be inside of you" and "I loved you once and I wanna love again".
** There's an interview (cited in the unauthorized biography of Blackmore, ''Black Knight'') where Ritchie Blackmore claims that he once caught Ian Gillan attempting to perform oral sex on bassist Roger Glover in the back of the band's Daimler automobile.
* Music/{{Gackt}}, as seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRiNDntFv3Y here.]] Though, to be fair, you could quite easily extend that out to a fair number of other [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFXPPNSNzTc J-Rockers]]. He also seems to have a particular thing about molesting guitarists, to the point where he's had most, if not all, of the ones he's worked with. [[TheVoiceless Even]] [[TheStoic Mana]]. Gackt has also infamously declared that if his ''Film/MoonChild'' co-star Hyde was a woman, he could easily fall in love with him. He has also stated that if his bandmate and [[HeterosexualLifePartners best friend]] You was a woman, he would marry You on the spot for his cooking skills alone. He also refers to You as his "soul mate" and has been known to shamelessly flirt with him on TV, to the point that You once told him off for giving their fans [[JustFriends the wrong idea about their relationship]]. This hasn't stopped Gackt from his shameless flirting though.
* During one live performance of Music/TokioHotel's ''Reden'' (arguably the band's most sexual song, though that isn't saying much) the singer approaches the bassist, gets checked out, then flashes a thumbs-up to the audience on the line describing the sign on the hotel room door, 'Don't Disturb'.
* Krist Novoselić, Music/DaveGrohl, and Music/KurtCobain all kissing at the end of their first Series/SaturdayNightLive appearance, which subsequently got edited off all re-airings. Grohl and Cobain were particularly adamant that the homophobia of the rock scene at the time disgusted them and their kissing onstage was effectively to keep said homophobes from attending their concerts.
* [[Music/{{Nirvana}} Kurt Cobain]] and Eddie Vedder of Music/PearlJam fame. Kurt didn't like the other band members but confirmed that he and Eddie slow danced underneath the stage during the 1992 MTV Music Awards.
* Pick a Johnny's Jimusho BoyBand. Anyone. They roll around all over each other in music videos, they feed each other, they dance on rainbows, they dress up as gay cowboys in spandex, kiss each other, cross dress in skimpy skirts for each-others' birthdays, sleep together, go on vacations together where no one can see what they do, are intimately familiar with the size of each other's [[{{Pun}} juniors]]...
* In the Music/FrankZappa-penned "I'm A Band Leader" (from ''The Lost Episodes'') [[Music/CaptainBeefheart Don Van Vliet]] intones:
-->"We have a new routine. Been working on it for three weeks or more. I pretend I'm a queer and the sax player pretends he's a queer, too, and later on in the show, (this'll kill ya) we kiss each other so that it looks to the audience like we kiss each other on the mouth. (heh). when we go... into a fast number, God, the people love it! Wait... till... we... get to Las Vegas!"
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSUHGcVda0g Punky's Whips]] is Ho Yay ''incarnate''. The story goes that drummer Terry Bozzio was lusting over a picture of Punky Meadows, the androgynous guitarist of the glam group Angel. Once he discovered that Punky was male, it "shook his manhood". Zappa found this hilarious and proceeded to craft a song about it, with Bozzio as the singer. The result? Ten minutes of wildly homoerotic yelping over how much he wants to bone Punky, with good helpings of IfItsYouItsOkay and HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday. The fact that Terry is performing the song [[ShirtlessScene wearing only a pair of shorts]] doesn't make those claims of heterosexuality particularly convincing.
* If not only for the fact that the song makes his voice unrecognizable, there seems to be some Ho Yay in the song "Sexy Back" between Music/JustinTimberlake and Timbaland.
* Speaking of Justin Timberlake, there's a [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nsync_official_stacks_on_redwhite_300x400_7890.jpg reason]] he and the rest of his bandmates in Music/{{NSYNC}} were referred to by their fandom as puppies--they honestly [[http://stillnsync.com/photogallery/displayimage.php?album=30&pos=24 had]] NoSenseOfPersonalSpace ([[http://i.imgur.com/Wcqx8wd.jpg a decade later, they still don't]]), and were openly [[http://picturesmcgee.tumblr.com/post/68327976271 affectionate]] with each other. The fact that [[StraightGay Lance Bass]] ''is'' gay makes it even worse...
** Hilariously enough, one commercial they did for [=McDonald's=] was them playing SpinTheBottle with Music/BritneySpears. Lance spins the bottle and it lands on... Justin.
** Sometimes they'll even play it for laughs, with Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone often making Ho Yay-laden statements to their interviewers just to screw with them.
** Lance has even fully admitted that he had crushes on his bandmates back in their early days and still opines about how amazing he thinks they are.
* Many of East Asia's idol groups excel at using ho yay (or LesYay) to grab their fans' attention, but the Korean band Music/SuperJunior just may take the cake.
** And most fans are certain that the members Donghae and Eunhyuk, aka the sub unit SJ D&E have at least something more than bromance. The duo spend most of their private time together, call each other with couple nicknames, have couple rings, and leave [[HoYay questionable quotes]] in TV shows and interviews.
* Boy band {{Music/EXO}}'s Sehun once stated on stage that he 'likes man' (most fans take this as a thank-you to fanboys). On a livestream, he also said his heart flutters when sees a man, and wondered why (fellow member Chanyeol shut him off). The other time, members Chen and Xiumin pick him 2nd worst to date by girls because 'it's the opposite sex' while giggling uncontrollably, and the host told them to skip the part due to 'privacy matters'.
* The relationship between Carl Barat and Pete Doherty of Brit Indie band Music/TheLibertines raised a few eyebrows. Perhaps they don't even belong in this trope because it's almost certain that they were an actual item back in the day.
** The duo would frequently share the microphone during their shows and occasionally would leave some rather romantic messages for each other on their bands website. This left quite a few confused fan girls... and [[YaoiFangirl some]] who had more unambiguously positive [[RealPersonFic reactions]].
** Oh, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUWWlhxa_Hs this.]] Just this.
** Also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlXvmI6uXz4 this.]] This is 'their' song with Peter. And Carl is singing it with the guy who is the replacement in every way, then proceeds to snog him... What a way to get back at your ex!
** Also, this interview: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1031095/We-need-talk-Pete-Carl-Barat-tragedy-Doherty.html that has quotes like:
---> '''Carl Barat:''' ‘You have to understand that this is someone I care a lot about. There’s still a lot of love between me and Pete.
---> '''Reporter:''' Barat has the demeanour of a young man who has lost the most important thing in his world. By the conclusion of our conversations, during which love and loss are mentioned as often as Doherty’s name, it’s quite clear he has done precisely that.
** "Can't Stand Me Now" was written after Pete was released from jail, where he was for breaking into Carl's apartment when he was forbidden from playing with the band untill he got cleaned up. They sing to each other on the song, wich starts with Carl saying "An ending fitting for the start / You twist and tore our love apart" and has a chorus in which both sing "I know you lie/All you do is make me cry/I'm still in love with you" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZrWuw3ZAXI To quote Pete Doherty himself: "On the demo of 'Can't stand me now' it's just me singing it to myself but basically I got turned on I think by the idea of putting the words in his mouth, making them so personal, so he's singing them back to me."
** "You're my Waterloo" written by Doherty about Barat. And a lot of their other songs have some details in them that suggest that they are about their stormy relationship. Later it was confirmed: “Of course, he reckons he hasn’t listened to any of my solo stuff, which is a bit upsetting..” “I listened to everything. He hid love messages for me in them. We both did that.”
** Carl also said that “We’d spent years communicating through the press, writing little bits in songs to take a dig at each other, or say that we love each other. Just knowing each other would hear them and pick up on them.”
** "She (that's Carlos)..." - Doherty talking about "What a waster".
** Doherty's scrapbook "Fragility of Openness" is worth a thousand words.
** Carl's "Threepenny Memoir" also sheds light on some parts of their toxic affair.
** The band's lyrics in general are strongly influenced by gay poets, writers, themes and musicians, and full or queer references.
* A large part of Music/GirlsAloud's fandom enjoy reading into the deeply close friendship between the five girls, but the deeply close friendship between Music/CherylCole and Kimberley Walsh is the most popular, being dubbed "Chim." Kimberley and Cheryl have admitted to finding Website/YouTube fanvids of them amusing, but both women are remain largely unaware of the LesYay subtext that the fans were getting at.
* It is common knowledge among Music/WithinTemptation fans that the relationship between lead singer Sharon den Adel and scary-as-hell guitarist Robert Westerholt predates the band itself. So while watching the DVD of their Black Symphony performance, one may be surprised by the LesYay between Sharon and guest singer [[Music/TheGathering Anneke van Giersbergen]] during the song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtZuqkvLt7o Somewhere]]", which includes the lyrics: "I want to embrace you, and never let you go."
** And now she does it again with Music/TarjaTurunen in the video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy6MpsDPKts Paradise]]"
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=temaoKXSVxw Over And Over]]" makes more sense if you view it as a love story between [[CrackPairing Nelly and Tim McGraw]]. Given that it was a mainstream hip hop/country song released in 2004, it was probably unintentional that the singers looked like they were serenading each other. However, not showing their actual love interests except in photographs to go with the 'lost love' theme of the song, in addition to splitting the screen between Nelly and [=McGraw=] while they went about their lives looking wistful and sad, made it seem like they were pining for each other, not the girls.
* [[Music/TheSmiths Morrissey and Johnny Marr]], to the point that some people have speculated that Morrissey was in love with Johnny. And let's not get started on all of the homoerotic lyrics. Let's just say a non-homoerotic song list would be far shorter.
** Morrissey has said the only post-Smiths song that was specifically written for Marr is 'Angel, Angel, Down We Go Together.' "I love you more than life"...repeat to end.
** They also have [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/EPIC_pink_hug_6868.jpg some]] [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pink_smirk_hug_3899.jpg quite]] [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flower_hug_better_res_5349.jpg touchy]] [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flower_behind_hug_1027.jpg feely]] [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glomp_from_behind_8643.jpg photos]].
** Marr must have had tremendous patience: and a keen sense of how much to feed his songwriting partner's ultimately-doomed (aren't they always?) infatuations, without getting in too deep. He was [[MoneyDearBoy sensible enough]] to realize: without a charismatic frontman, he'd have been nowhere. Despite his formidable chops.
* Music/FranzFerdinand read slash about themselves, and once gave a public shout-out to the livejournal slash community slacken_ties during a gig. "Slackening ties for the girls at slacken_ties!"
** When Alex Kapranos and Nick [=McCarthy=] met, Nick had stolen Alex's drink. The fight they got into quickly turned into a snog. Suspiciously, the Wikipedia article no longer says that. ([[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nicholas_McCarthy=297732241&oldid=290634556 However a cached page does]]).
** "Michael" from ''Music/FranzFerdinand2004'' is a song about a man being attracted to another man while out clubbing. More ambiguously, "This Boy", "Do You Want To" and "The Dark of the Matinee" have HoYay elements as well.
* Stone Temple Pilots are dripping with it. Whether it be singer Scott Weiland's apparent lack of regard for personal space, or his strange dancing and poses with the other band members while performing. And of course, there's one part of the video for Interstate Love Song where Scott is sitting on bassist Robert De Leo's lap and kisses him. There's also the fact that Scott and Robert lived together for several years.
* Music/AliceInChains:
** A few of their duet songs have lines with a strong HoYay vibe. Especially when you consider that [[WordOfGod Jerry has stated that several of them are about his relationship with Layne.]]
** You think that was bad? Wait 'til you see Layne with his pre-AIC band, Sleze. They pushed the HoYay meter up to 11 with the band's image built around [[DragQueen extreme drag]] (think Peter Burns meets CC Deville) and FauxYay galore.
** And in their hair band days, they had [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-A0Ytm_QEo this]] little number.
** Alice in Chains is a city-leveling explosion of HoYay, as shown by pictures like [[http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/500/413592/Alice+in+Chains.jpg this]], [[http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/2124931/Alice+in+Chains.jpg this]], [[http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/3373586/Alice+in+Chains+aic.jpg and of course]], [[http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/9080/Alice+in+Chains.jpg this]].
* Considering Freddie never came out during his lifetime (and for good reason, given his birth country of Zanzibar has shut down tributes to him for that very reason) and the rest were allegedly straight, Music/{{Queen}} was just dripping with HoYay.
** "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy," "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WTysQTge7c&feature=channel_page I Want to Break Free]]," "My Fairy King" - 'Nuff said.
** "Bicycle Race" - The lyrics look standard enough on paper, but, well, [[http://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-Race/dp/B00138IXOI/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1237615253&sr=8-1 listen for yourself]].
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=navDtkwb6YM&feature=channel_page Tie Your Mother Down]]" - Fairly standard IntercourseWithYou, but the gender is never specified, and the Music/LedZeppelin ShoutOut "give me every inch of your love" tips the scales a bit.
*** Could "Get Down Make Love" paint a more vivid picture? "I suck your mind/You blow my head"?
** "Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...[[spoiler:a Real Motherfucker of a Gentleman]])" - Actually addressed to their former manager, but written to sound like a breakup song.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUBwjyhRweQ&feature=channel_page Don't Stop Me Now]]" - Called their "only openly homosexual song," the chorus contains the line "[[IntercourseWithYou I want to make a supersonic man/woman out of you]]!"
** During the Wembley show, Freddie jokingly referred to them as "four aging queens."
** Don't forget the cover of their [[http://staryvek.com/images/stories/_muzz/rock/Queen/1974%20-%20Sheer%20Heart%20Attack.JPG Sheer Heart Attack]] album.
** And they're, well, named ''Queen''.
** Plus there's the fact that they all dressed up in drag for I Want To Break Free. Which holds even more ho yay seeing as during the recording for the video, their manager (I think it was their manager) turns to Roger and says "You look so good I could fuck you.
* Music/FaithNoMore lead singer Mike Patton has made many a lewd comment during songs, such as "...so cum in my ass you dirty cocksucker" at 2:49 [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKAIe9T__7Q here]] (the female audience members seem particularly pleased). Also, when Patton invited band member Roddy Bottum (who came out as gay in 1993) to write a song, the result was "Be Aggressive", a song pretty blatantly about oral sex between two men. Bottum expected Patton to be embarrassed by this fact, but Patton thought it was hilarious and the song was the second-most played during live performances.
* The Used practically own this trope - once you get past the stagegay, there's also some highly homoerotic statements made in interviews and the bit where they have written multiple songs about gay sex. Let's not even get into that whole thing between Bert and Gerard Way...
* What about [[Music/MyChemicalRomance Gerard Way and Frank Iero]]? They kiss on stage and in music videos, there have been multiple times when Frank has sat on Gerard's lap in interviews. Oh, and the small fact that Frank has licked Gerard through his jeans and that Gerard has grinded on Frank before. Yeah.
* Music/TheBeatles:
** There are many people who would claim that Music/JohnLennon and Music/PaulMcCartney loved each other... really...
*** How about this?:
---> '''Q Magazine:''' If John Lennon could come back for a day, how would you spend it with him?
---> '''Paul:''' [[http://i28.tinypic.com/2ivjjmq.jpg In bed.]]
*** Yoko Ono even said that she thought John had been in love with Paul at some point. Also, according to her, the people who worked at Apple Studios referred to Paul as "Lennon's Princess". [[http://community.livejournal.com/johnheartpaul/1620402.html#cutid1 Their body language in pictures can suggest something between them, too]]. And face it, the breakup of the Beatles largely seemed to be due to a huge love square between Yoko, John, Paul and Linda.
*** When John made a guest appearance at an Music/EltonJohn concert in 1974, he introduced a performance of "I Saw Her Standing There" thusly:
---->We thought we'd do a number of an old, estranged fiancé of mine, called Paul.
*** And then there's [[http://community.livejournal.com/johnheartpaul/1448574.html John's NSFW short story]] that's almost definitely slashy and ''maybe'' about Paul...
*** There's also that the fandom's ship name [[PortmanteauCoupleName McLennon]] was apparently coined by John himself on a [[https://78.media.tumblr.com/bf0f5cef832aac6a4ea482aa219d4735/tumblr_o7phy3Yssf1rutgtno1_500.jpg comical postcard featuring two men running off together after a wedding, complete with the spurned bride in the background]], which he sent to Ringo [[https://78.media.tumblr.com/330742dbe5a4f82094a798b146eebf9d/tumblr_o7phy3Yssf1rutgtno2_500.jpg and signed 'the McLennon']].
*** [[http://lifeofthebeatles.blogspot.com/2006/06/revolution-chaos-tape-yoko-ono-june-4.html This entry from Yoko's audio diary]], recorded during a very early stage of the ''White Album'' sessions (or as Paul called it, "the tension album") and somehow bootlegged years later, provides this absolute gem:
----> "I feel like [Paul]'s my younger brother or something like that. '''I'm sure that i-f he had been a woman or something, he would have been a great threat, because there's something definitely very strong with me, John, and Paul.''' And... and probably among those three people of George and Ringo and Paul. Paul is the one I feel the vibration, sort of sense it. That something is... among the... you know, 'cause Ringo and George, I just can't communicate. I mean, I'm sure that George and Ringo, they're very nice people. That's not the point."
*** And there's just the fact that John made a point of putting Yoko in the role that Paul once held with him, right down to taking [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/167515d79f127fd5e2b46d17b6e0ee33/tumblr_pqlf4k7ylO1tsziz8o1_r1_400.png photos]] [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/ac5e1cab0c86c38be2a7374c6550ba14/tumblr_pqlf4k7ylO1tsziz8o3_400.png in the]] [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/e13389a01d76c438bff9d0833850fb33/tumblr_pqlf4k7ylO1tsziz8o4_400.png same]] [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/0d5a9152bb883dc6b18936a96d3d4f16/tumblr_pqlf4k7ylO1tsziz8o2_r1_400.png poses]] as the famous David Bailey photoshoot. (And John had one of those pictures of him and Paul hanging in his studio throughout the 1970s.)
*** John announced that he wanted to leave the band by declaring, "I want a divorce." This, according to Mal Evans, let to the famously even-tempered Paul breaking down and sobbing on the drive home.
** In the early days when Paul and Music/GeorgeHarrison were the unmarried members of the group, they used to answer the incessant "When are you getting married?" questions by saying they'd marry each other.
** And their 1965 interview with ''Playboy'' takes some pretty interesting detours...
---> '''JOHN:''' Groups like this are normally not friends, you know. They're just four people out there thrown together to make an act. There may be two of them who sort of go off and are friends, you know, but..
---> '''GEORGE:''' Just what do you mean by that?
---> '''JOHN:''' Strictly platonic, of course. But we're all rather good friends, as it happens.
** From the same above ''Playboy'' interview:
---> '''PLAYBOY:''' To bring up another topic that's shocking to some, how do you feel about the homosexual problem?
---> '''GEORGE:''' Oh yeah, well, we're all homosexuals, too.
---> '''RINGO:''' Yeah, we're all queer.
---> '''PAUL:''' But don't tell anyone.
** Ladies and gentlemen, for your pleasure: [[http://www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/nails.jpg John getting nailed by George.]]
%%** Not to mention that John was probably bisexual anyway. He had a brief affair with their manager, Brian Epstein, who was gay, and partly hired the Beatles because he was so enamored with John. They took a trip to Spain together, where Brian gave John a hand job.
*** Here's John [[http://touch.dailymotion.com/video/xbhmaf_john-lennon-mitch-mitchel-yer-blues_music flirting with Mick Jagger]] in a segment from ''Music/{{The Rolling Stones|Band}} Rock and Roll Circus''. And if that's too subtle for you, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NatIkEmO5wA here they are backstage]] before the show.
** An interviewer asked George if "Something" was inspired by Pattie Boyd. George responded "No, I was really more thinking of [[CrackShip Ray Charles]]." Clearly meaning he was attempting to write a song in Charles' style, but the interviewer promptly cracked that Ray Charles wasn't quite as good looking as Pattie.
* Music/TheWho. Just...watch ''The Kids Are Alright.'' Keith Moon was all over his bandmates, constantly. Not to mention Pete Townshend's famous "I feel like a woman" interview. In more recent years, Pete and Roger Daltrey have frequently stated that they love each other, even though [[VitriolicBestBuds they can't get along half the time]]. In 2006, Roger even said to ''Q Magazine'' that if he and Pete ever started liking each other, it would be a disaster because "he'd want to fuck me and I'd want to fuck him and it would be boring."
** Pete Townshend is an out bisexual and has gone on at length in his autobiography and in several interviews about how sexy he always found Mick Jagger.
* Music/{{U2}}:
** Messrs. Bono and the Edge, particularly at [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejJdfkFjKCA this performance]] of "Until the End of the World" (a song sung in the persona of Judas to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, for ''extra'' Special Hell factor) at Slane Castle in Ireland. 2:31 is the actual kiss, but the entire end is Bono beckoning Edge to come to him and holding him by his neck while he moans orgasmically in his ear, then has a ''guitar vs. devil horns battle with him''. You're all welcome.
** They did the same sort of thing in the webcast Rose Bowl concert. It seems more like a representation of the HoYay in the song itself, rather than between them (can anyone find a non ''"Until The End of the World"'' example?).
** Bono rather notoriously and frequently gets up close and personal with both The Edge and Adam Clayton. There are pictures, videos and live performances where Bono has kissed The Edge or Adam, gotten on his knees to grab their thighs, etc. Also regarding "Until The End of The World," Bono has said it was inspired by the homoerotic elements he perceived in the story of Judas and Jesus.
* Music/LedZeppelin:
** Although Led Zeppelin was ragingly hetero for the most part, there's a call-and-response sequence in "You Shook Me" where Robert Plant sings a melodic line, and Jimmy Page imitates him on guitar. On the live BBC version Plant goes into some blatantly orgasmic moaning and Page follows right along.
** However, during a concert in Landover, MD in 1977, Plant introduced a song by saying:
-->"If you've ever had an affair with a member of the opposite sex, '''or even a member of the same sex'''; if this affair seemed very casual to you at one time, and then you walked away, and as the years go by, it was a lot more than it seemed, then you've felt... you've felt a feeling of lost love, and this is a song about that, it's called 'Ten Years Gone'"
** Creator/CameronCrowe said when he hung out with Zep as a teen reporter for ''Rolling Stone'', instead of going to regular clubs after shows, the band would go to gay clubs where they wouldn't be bothered by fans.
** In fact, Jimmy/Robert (Jimbert) was a very popular slash pairing back in the day.
** It's still fairly popular anyplace you can find Led Zeppelin fanfiction on the internet.
* Music/EmilieAutumn and her Bloody Crumpets provide their adoring muffins with a storm of LesYay, including but not limited to: onstage girls kissing girls, girls spanking girls, girls dancing with girls, girls tying one another up with ribbons, girls straddling girls like ponies, girls proposing to girls, girls undressing one another, girls swooning into one another arms. Not to mention the Rat Game...
* Obligatory reference to Music/TeganAndSara, [[OverlyNarrowSuperlative the world's only Canadian lesbian identical-twin band]].
* Music/XJapan.
** It is quite arguable that EveryoneIsBi applies, whether it's just their being the UrExample of VisualKei FanService (having themselves invented Visual Kei), or that one or more members were/are bisexual for real. Yoshiki/hide, Yoshiki/Toshi, Taiji/Yoshiki, Taiji/hide, Taiji/Pata, Pata/hide, Pata/Heath, and hide/Heath are all arguable to various degrees. If you're writing FanFic, you might even find yourself doing a LoveDodecahedron or an orgy. [[GroupieBrigade And of course they all like girls too.]]
** Yoshiki admitted, much later, that hide was his soulmate - over a series of tweets and Facebook postings, though anyone who paid attention to his and hide's interactions and to just ''how'' devastated he was by hide's death already knew. He also has dated and been involved with a lot of models and Hollywood women, though, so he's likely bisexual.
** hide, obviously, had seemed to return Yoshiki's feelings back in the day and made ''several'' remarks in interviews either hinting that he was bisexual and/or male to female transgender, including the infamous remark above that Yoshiki's song about male/male sex was his favorite song to perform, and his outlook seemed to be "all sex is good sex."
** Pata is a fan of yaoi manga to the point that BL-themed fanart was an official release of merch from him at one point. He was married to a woman for a while and had a child, though.
** Toshi is either AmbiguouslyGay or CampStraight with a little MachoCamp. Being in a sexless marriage for over 10 years, being HellBentForLeather, his interest in {{Samurai}} ethos and culture, the museum pic he posted to his Facebook, and his new solo music having everything from songs like ''Pride of Man'' and ''Hotel D'Amour'' to a love song for Yoshiki and another love song with a line about "the hours of Uranus," and his Liberace-inspired fashion, either he's actually gay or he's trying to make himself more so than Razor Ramon ever accomplished.
** Heath is an aversion - while he engages in onstage HoYay and is the target of everything from shipping to actually being approached for sex by another band's singer, he is straight and not really interested in anyone. Except maybe his bass.
* The UK band Architects has a running joke between the fans and each other about the rest of the band, but particularly the Searle twins (guitar and drums), picking on bassist Ali Dean. This has several times taken a somewhat homoerotic undertone, especially when it involves the Searle twins; entire interviews will be spent by them discussing their fascination with him, and references to the length of his bass guitar neck aren't uncommon.
* If they weren't married, the way Bret [=McKenzie=] and Jemaine Clement of Music/FlightOfTheConchords look at each other during [[http://www.youaintnopicasso.com/2009/01/21/video-flight-of-the-conchords-live-at-amoeba-full-concert-with-flaming-lips-cover-tease/ this concert]] would be very questionable.
** Taken to even more comical levels in the song "Bret, You've Got It Going On," which contains the line, "Why can't [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday a heterosexual guy]] tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?"
** Definitely not helped by their TV series wherein at least one episode had Bret going out with a woman and Jemaine was jealous of how much attention she was getting, and a separate episode where he acts as the ThirdWheel for some of Bret's dates with a different woman which come off as ''her'' being the third wheel. Let's not even talk about the InUniverse fangirl who ships them.
* Britpop band Music/{{Suede}} (aka The London Suede) were ''devoted'' to this trope, both on stage (especially when Brett Anderson slapped his arse with the microphone) and in their lyrics.
* Plenty of T. Rex.
** "Twentieth Century Boy" is the most blatant (and most famous) by far, but...
*** The (done in live shows between 1987 and 1992) cover by the aforementioned Music/XJapan takes it up to eleven. The cover by [[Music/HidetoMatsumoto hide and his solo band]] in 1994 does the same.
** "Raw Ramp," where a misogynistic tirade is followed by an admonition to his fellow men, ending in "embrace your brother, dance in the mud like a Palomino stud, come on; hold my hand."
** "Telegram Sam," an ode to the male members of his entourage, in almost every line. Especially coupled with "Main Man."
** "Rock On": "Teddy's going steady, he's a silver-plated poet, loves everyone - eeeeeveryone, eeeeeeeveryyyyyooone."
** "Rabbit Fighter": "Shady politician in my bed, tying bolts of lightning to his head..."
** "Main Man" is a crooning love song to a clearly male figure, complete with falsetto backup singer.
* {{Music/Gorillaz}}:
** 2D seemed, at least in Phases 1 and 2, to have a weird masochistic thing going with Murdoc, if you read between the lines of their VitriolicBestBuds relationship.
-->'''Murdoc:''' "I saved your life, you owe me your soul."
-->'''2D:''' "Awww, I love you, Murdoc!"
** 2D had a lovebite on the ''Demon Days'' cover, and some of the fans have pointed to the weird alignment of the teethmarks as a sign that Murdoc could have done it. On the forum, 2D once claimed that he'd been watching Murdoc sleep and [[http://forums.gorillaz.com/viewtopic.php?t=944&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=2280&sid=ed6df8d7e55a83ed2bc0ed1903e4209e "you're quite ... beautiful ... when you're quiet."]] Murdoc pointedly didn't respond. It could also be argued that Murdoc's habit of stealing or scaring away 2D's girlfriends is a sign of possessiveness towards him (on top of simply being a JerkAss). More recently, Murdoc did drunkenly claim that he found Ronnie Corbett attractive, though he ''was'' so drunk at the time that he could have been making it up.
** Might be a minor thing, but during an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnq3nm6ZtNc&feature=related iTunes session interview]], Murdoc says the following about 2-D: (2:46 - 2:54)
-->"When he stood up, wooow. What an image. Tall, pretty, blue spiky hair..."
** While speaking of Gorillaz... It's [[http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Gorillaz+Visits+Fuse+TV+3VMErpY33Jml.jpg incredibly]] [[http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Gorillaz+Visits+Fuse+TV+DEe-0m3xgIHl.jpg hard]] [[http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Gorillaz+Visits+Fuse+TV+xL3yFbqtOvhl.jpg to]] [[http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Gorillaz+Visits+Fuse+TV+M6m5NXoToKVl.jpg see]] [[http://i37.tinypic.com/xdwhnp.jpg these]] [[http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l3o6xlWuJu1qbmdoyo1_400.jpg photos]] of Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn and not think HoYay. Not for you? Then we have [[http://i35.tinypic.com/288114.jpg this]] and [[http://i34.tinypic.com/2u7oa52.jpg this]]. It doesn't help that have conversations like those:
--->'''Albarn:''' Just relax. Learn how to relax.
--->'''Hewlett:''' I'm relaxed. Except when I'm with you.
--->'''Albarn:''' (laugh)
--->'''Hewlett:''' When I'm not with you, people think I'm on valium, I'm so relaxed!

*** [[http://i55.tinypic.com/znka5t.jpg There's]] [[http://i54.tinypic.com/n4vdw5.jpg even]] [[http://i56.tinypic.com/s0wutl.jpg more]] [[http://i55.tinypic.com/2pobjv6.jpg of]] [[http://i52.tinypic.com/bgb6gk.jpg this]] [[http://i54.tinypic.com/28u5i78.jpg between]] Graham Coxon and Damon.
*** Damon has seemed to be rather enamored with Snoop Dogg as well, hugging him in an extremely enthusiastic manner in almost every picture of them together.
* Music/{{Coldplay}}'s Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland fit this trope to a T. [[http://i35.tinypic.com/wbw07m.jpg They've kissed many times.]] [[http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb122/Frimples04/qawardsboards28ho0.jpg Many, many times.]]
* Music/{{Eminem}}:
** Eminem and Music/DrDre:
*** "I Need A Doctor" is basically a beautiful five-minute tribute to Eminem and Dre's deep bond. Highlights include Eminem [[ManlyTears crying in the booth]] over how much he loves him.
*** In "My Dad's Gone Crazy", Eminem and Dre come out:
---->'''Eminem''': I'm out the closet, I've been lyin' my ass off\
All this time, me and Dre been fuckin' with hats off\
'''Dre''': Suck it, Marshall!
*** Eminem loves to represent himself and Dre as ''the'' iconic slash pairings from fandom history. In the video for "Without Me", and in the lyrics of numerous songs from ''Music/TheEminemShow'' onwards, they're represented as ComicBook/{{Batman}} and Robin (famously, so gay that [[MediaNotes/TheComicsCode they caused a moral panic]]). In the video for "We Made You", they dress as [[Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries Kirk and Spock]] (the pairing that created the term 'slash'). In the 2022 Super Bowl promo, Eminem is shown crafting rhymes in midair in a Series/{{Sherlock}}-esque mind-palace before ditching it at a text from Dre (which he [[{{Gasp}} bugs out]] about), implying Johnlock.
** Em, Music/FiftyCent and Music/DrDre are surprisingly touchy whenever you see them together, Eminem said that he loves Dr. Dre, and that he would do anything for either of them, Eminem is Fifty's "favorite white boy" and Eminem rapped about how close he is to Fifty while hugging him. Not to mention D12 + Eminem, [=GUnit=] + 50 Cent, Music/{{NWA}}+Dr. Dre.
*** Eminem's role in ''50 Cent: Bulletproof'' is a corrupt detective who serves as an informant. There is a scene where his character visits Fif, and tries to greet him by kissing him, which makes Fif reel back in disgust. In the following scene, Em watches sadly, drinking beer, as Fif parties with hos.
*** In an interview in 2008, Fifty brags that Eminem painted his portrait and gave it to him for his birthday. Fif loved it and hung it in his house across from his front door, so it would be the first thing people saw when they went in.
*** Eminem's verse in "[=EPMD2=]" contains the line, "''I hit 50 via text / Told him that I love him 'cause I don't even know when I'ma see him next''". 50 later explained that this was a reference to a text Em had sent him which read, "''when you gon fly me in private, so I can land on that dick?''" (WaxingLyrical -- a lyric from 50's song "Pop Smoke"). Fif thought it was hilarious, replying, "''[[GayBravado you said a line a bitch was supposed to say, and made it sound cool]]''".
*** Overlapping with FoeRomanceSubtext -- in "Bump Heads", 50 sings to his ArchEnemy Ja Rule, "''I know you want me, baby''".
** "You're Never Over" is a love song from Eminem to his best friend Proof, which goes into detail about the pet names they had for each other.
** A whole track on ''Music/TheMarshallMathersLP'' is Eminem playing his DepravedHomosexual character, Ken Kaniff, recieving an extraordinarily gross-sounding blowjob from Music/InsaneClownPosse, who then [[WrongNameOutburst moan "Eminem"]]. It's QueerPeopleAreFunny, but he seems to be really enjoying the opportunity to roleplay as a gay pervert, and the idea of guys being into him. As an extraordinarily cute PrettyBoy in his early career, EvenTheGuysWantHim ended up being a core part of his persona - despite his homophobic lyrics.
** "Stan" is about a deranged LoonyFan of Eminem who wants to 'be together' with him. The song leaves it deliberately ambiguous as to whether this is because Stan is bisexual or just the result of his obsessive overinvestment, but Stan as a character is at least somewhat sympathetic. It's not an uncommon reading of the song to think that Stan and Marshall ''should'' have got together, and Eminem has occasionally supported that reading.
*** In "Bad Guy", Eminem is murdered by Stan's brother Matthew, who seems to be especially disgusted by the homophobia in his song "Criminal", which seems to imply Matthew knew Stan wasn't straight. After drugging Em, he ties him up and says, "who's the faggot now?", before eventually murdering him in the name of his brother "and Music/FrankOcean".
** "My Darling" combines this with ScrewYourself for a truly bizarre SoloDuet in which Slim Shady sings to Marshall Mathers that he's his darling, they're meant to be together, and that Slim wants Marshall's soul, mind, heart and body. The song ends with Marshall embracing Slim as the chainsaw sounds in the background reach a fever pitch.
*** ''Slim Shady EP'' also contains some other ScrewYourself elements between Slim and Eminem, with Slim claiming he molested Eminem, and him (in his EvilSoundsDeep true form) screaming at Eminem that "''you're nothing without me!''"
** Eminem's cameo in ''Film/TheInterview'' is based on his reputation for homoeroticism when he unexpectedly comes out on a chat show, surprised everyone else hasn't figured out yet that he's gay ("I left a breadcrumb trail of gayness"). When questioned on a lyric from his song "Medicine Ball" ("''I said, nice rectum, I just got a vasectomy, Hector, so I can't get you pregnant when I bisexually wreck ya''"), Eminem looks misty-eyed and claims that Hector 'was a real guy'.
** In Eminem's DissTrack against [[Music/LimpBizkit Fred Durst]], he accuses Fred of copying his style, then says he's 'peggin' him with the bottle of dye that he bleached his head with'.
* Speaking of Dr. Dre, many fans think that Music/TheGameRapper is gay for Dr. Dre, based on how many times Dre is mentioned in Game's lyrics.
* Erasure. Andy is strictly gay, Vince is straight (or maybe bi).
* Music/TheyMightBeGiants has John Linnell and John Flansburgh, through the very fact that they've been with each other for the last 30 years and have the sort of intimate friendship that can only blossom out of being one another's only consistent companion for as long; some aspects are bound to come off as at least a little HoYay, and it was only a matter of time before RuleThirtyFour would take over (as they say, it exists, and I'm gonna leave it at that). They obviously don't put a lot of effort into playing it up, both being in their 50s now and married to women... but if TheMovie is to be believed, apparently John Flansburgh wears purple nail polish, shaves his arm and, if his raven locks suggest anything, dyes his hair. John Linnell on the other hand, especially in the earlier years of the band and with his flowing luscious locks, comes across as painfully ukeish. Hardly any interview goes by without at least a little playful bickering, sharing of in-jokes and just plain affection.
-->'''Linnell:''' Hey, John.
-->'''Flansburgh:''' Yes?
-->'''Linnell:''' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80L5y9zU4aM Rawk'n rawwwll!]]
-->'''Flansburgh:''' * Is flustered and cute*
* Gabe Saporta, the lead singer of Music/CobraStarship, has brought stagegay SerialEscalation. From grinding on the bassist of My Chemical Romance to making out with Pete Wentz on multiple occasions, Gabe never gives up an opportunity for gay. However, the pinnacle was when he ate a piece of chocolate out of the navel of William Beckett, lead singer of The Academy Is.... No wonder the fandom has given him MemeticMolestor status.
* Cinema Bizarre was super into this trope. The band members would ''very frequently'' make out during concerts, then deny it later. The fact that they were all at least bisexual only served to confuse matters further.
* Music/AdamLambert and his bass player Tommy Joe Ratliff have this trope in spades. During shows Adam will often lick, kiss and make out with Tommy, and Tommy will cuddle up to him. Though if anyone asks in interviews, "Tommy is straight."
* Fangirls have paired up Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda of Music/LinkinPark and called it "Bennoda." It's unlikely, seeing as both men are married, but the two have implied things for laughs such as in this conversation
-->'''Chester:''' We're so boy bandish, aren't we? I think it's because of my strikingly good looks
-->'''Mike:''' I think it's because of your strikingly bad looks
-->'''Chester:''' I totally disagree. I think I'm the most important person ever.
-->'''Mike:''' I think Chester's full of himself and I think that's really hot
-->'''Chester:''' Yeah sometimes at night you're full of me too
** Chester and Mike do have the closest relationship out of a band made up of already close friends. The two are very friendly with one other, Mike even kissed Chester on the forehead during one concert.
* Matt Bellamy and Dom Howard from Music/{{Muse}} (aka BellDom to the shippers) are an extremely obvious example. There is also a HoYay moment on their Hullaballoo DVD involving [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mthNNJX6YE Dom and Chris showering together]].
-->'''Interviewer:''' What would you do if you are the only man left on earth after the End of The World?
-->'''Matt:''' I'd go looking for a woman...If I wouldn't find any, I think I'll be satisfied with Dominic.
-->'''Q Magazine:''' Dom, you’ve been hit by Matt’s flying guitars before. What measures do you take to protect yourself from his ‘theatrics’?\
'''Dom:''' My reflexes have become a lot quicker. I had stitches in my eye once after he cut it. And a tetanus injection…
-->'''Matt:''' … In his bum! We came backstage and he was bent over a table, his bum hanging out. That was the main reason I did it. Any excuse to get Dom to bend over and pull his pants down.
* Presenting Steve Perry and Neal Schon of Music/{{Journey|Band}}. Yeah. ''Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin''', indeed.
* Chris Corner from Music/{{IAMX}} and Creator/NoelFielding have kissed on stage. Yeah.
* The members of Music/BonJovi seem a little touchy feely in some of their videos... For example in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrZHPOeOxQQ&feature=relmfu You Give Love A Bad Name]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwk Livin' On A Prayer]] they often have their arms around each other, lean really close to each other to sing into the same mic, smile at each other a lot and look at each other for a long time, and play each other's guitars.
* The fact that Steely Dan is named after a dildo in a William Burroughs novel implies one of their members read a William Burroughs novel featuring a dildo.
** Donald Fagen and Walter Becker met in college and almost immediately became HeterosexualLifePartners.
* Music/{{Rush|Band}} has Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee. Been friends since junior high, extremely affectionate and goofy around one another. There are pictures of Geddy attempting to kiss Alex on the cheek (and getting rejected, but still), of Geddy sitting on Alex's lap... yeeeah.
* Music/{{Aerosmith}}
** Joe Perry and Steven Tyler are absolutely dripping with this. There's a certain picture from a photoshoot sometime in the mid-80s that makes it look like they're about to kiss.
** In one interview, Joe Perry mentioned how his pants got tighter when he was onstage with the band.
** At one point in his autobiography, Steven writes that he was jealous of Elyssa, Joe's first wife, for "stealing my boyfriend."
* Japan's David Sylvian was bisexual and dressed in drag in the early days of the band, something which he [[OldShame wishes never happened]]. He does have a pretty HoYay friendship with Ryuichi Sakamoto.
* Music/MarilynManson and most of his bandmates, but especially longtime pal and bassist Twiggy Ramirez. Footage from the band's early days shows the two doing some... [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHXihDkBdnw decidedly pornographic]] things to one another. They are very [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4inkX5cdkY&feature=related kissy and huggy]] and have been photographed walking around holding hands. Additionally, even before Twiggy joined the band, people were asking if they were together. Manson's reply was always "No comment". Plus, the Dope Hat music video, and that one magazine cover where they were tied up together to a guitar.
** Marilyn Manson and Creator/JohnnyDepp, too. They are just as close and cuddly on stage as Manson and Twiggy, as well as miming blowjobs on each other on stage.
** He can't even stay in his own band. Manson and [[Music/{{Rammstein}} Richard Kruspe]] flirt and complement the hell out of each other as well.
* Youtube musicians Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider have this in spades, considering that most of their fanbase is absolutely sure the two are boyfriends. Like, it has literally never occurred to anyone that they aren't boyfriends.
** As of April 2016, Sam's ambiguity is gone, as he has confirmed that he is indeed gay. That said, this trope as it pertains to him and Kurt was amazingly subverted--he's been in a longterm relationship with fellow singer Casey Breves and married him in 2016, meaning that he and Kurt are definitely ''not'' together.
* The early incarnations of IndustrialMetal SuperGroup Pigface dripped with it. Glitch and Son of a Glitch, a compilation of live performances contains such moments as: [[Music/{{KMFDM}} En Esch]] suggestively licking Andrew Weiss' hand and sticking his face in another bandmate's crotch; Mary Byker rubbing Chris Connelly's bare chest; [[Music/SkinnyPuppy Nivek Ogre]] and Mary grinding up against each other; and lots of shirtless hugs.
* Music/NineInchNails. Oh boy, where to start?
** Trent/Robin Finck is probably the most popular slash pairing, though Jeordie White/Alessandro Cortini as been gaining popularity, too.
** Trent and his first guitarist, Richard Patrick, apparently used to make out with each other in public.
*** Trent apparently also gave Richard the nickname "Piggy", which puts some of the songs on ''Music/TheDownwardSpiral'' in an entirely different light.
** Longtime drummer and assistant Chris Vrenna was Trent's roommate before there was a Nine Inch Nails (circa 1986) and remained so until his deperature in 1997.
*** There's a picture on the Closure DVD of PerpetualFrowner Trent [[http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/t-h-e-f-r-a-g-i-l-e/8039706661/1/tumblr_lovxvnhk1H1qmlr3n actually smiling]] at Chris.
** In answer to a fan's question, Aaron North claimed to have Jerome Dillon's initials tattooed on his ass. The two were also very fond of cuddling together in unofficial photos.
* Music/TaylorMomsen may be performing music just to get chicks because frequently at her band's shows, she calls female audience members on to do naughty things with.
* Music/DemiLovato and Music/SelenaGomez are very affectionate with each other, perhaps beyond friendship. Fans have speculated that Demi's song "Stop The World" which they introduced as about "being in love with someone you're not supposed to be in love with". Also while not written by Selena, "Who Says" is basically about a girl telling another how pretty she is.
* In an interview with Korean pop group Big Bang, G-Dragon was quoted as saying “I almost fell for T.O.P. While we’re traveling in the car, he plays jokes on me. But he’s really charming… If he were a girl, I would’ve dated him right then. He’s just that charming.”, and fellow member Seungri said "We parodied ‘Secret Garden‘ recently, and I had a kiss scene with T.O.P. His manners were really good during filming. I wondered what women would feel if I felt that as a guy."
* The members of Music/{{Versailles}} don't engage in this as much as other VisualKei bands do, but there's still a few examples of them being closer than is strictly necessary.
** Most obvious is with Kamijo and Hizaki (affectionately called [[PortmanteauCoupleName Kamizaki]] among fans). Kamijo often calls him "Hizaki-hime" ("Princess Hizaki", referring to his [[WholesomeCrossdresser rather unique taste in clothing]]) and has admitted that, if Hizaki were actually a woman, he'd probably date him. In a TV interview, Hizaki joked that he's the band's [[TeamMom mother]] and Kamijo the [[TeamDad father]].
** There's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR4TDHYgh2s a behind-the-scenes clip]] from the Node of Scherzo project that begins with Jasmine spying on Kamijo in his hotel room while he gets dressed for the upcoming show. Kamijo then suddenly opens the door and faux-angrily berates Jasmine for spying on him...[[HypocriticalHumor before walking two doors down]] to spy on "Princess Hizaki" while ''he'' gets dressed. And then Kamijo and Jasmine start dancing together.
** From the making of ''Onegai Kanaete Versailles'': Teru draws a picture of Kamijo (even including a {{bishonen}} sparkle for good measure). [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pj4pcCvVY9Q Kamijo rewards Teru by kissing him on the cheek.]] And then kissing the picture of himself.
* ...But nothing, ''nothing'' from Music/{{Versailles}} compares to what goes on between Kamijo and Music/{{Kaya}}. [[PortmanteauCoupleName Kamikaya]] is probably the second most popular pairing in Versailles fandom--which is pretty good for a guy who's ''not even in the band''. They constantly refer to each other as if they're dating (calling each other "my lover", "my boyfriend", etc.) and [[http://i50.tinypic.com/2wmnyhv.jpg have kissed]] more than once. Kaya is also openly gay, only adding more fuel to the fire.
-->'''Kaya, at Tokyo Metropolis''': There is a special connection between Music/{{Versailles}}-san and me...as you know, I have a darling, Kamijo-san! I've loved him only. I'm entirely faithful to him...these days, I've gotten to know many good guys, but my darling is only Kamijo-san!
* Miles Kane and Alex Turner from Music/{{The Last Shadow Puppets}} are a perfect example of this. With comments like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF1aFTCNfw0 this]], music videos like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPsyynjHpbY this]], and performances like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Tniwk0mkIQ this]] (see 3:20), it's quite hard to miss. And it's [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbr8vrQC4p1rezzpbo1_400.jpg not just the fans]] who often talk about it. The "gazing into each other eyes" bit [[http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq96/t_to_the_p/live/glasto2623611623_e070e10a1c_o.jpg is]] [[http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq96/t_to_the_p/other/0000r8snap.png particulary]] [[http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq96/t_to_the_p/other/mojo_redcarpet6.jpg truthfull]]. Plus... [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-qe4KQMR00 this whole interview]]. Add matching clothes, matching rings on their pinky fingers and that they look like they’re on the verge of snogging 90 percent of the time.
* The [[http://www.pophistorydig.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/1976-orleans-alb-320.jpg cover]] of Orleans' album ''Waking and Dreaming'' features the group's members shirtless, with their arms around each other.
* Music/DepecheMode: Ho yay has been part of their shtick since their first album, with songs like "Boys Say Go" and "What's Your Name?" Martin's predilection for leather bondage gear onstage (plus all the boys' make-up preferences) perpetuated the association with gay subculture throughout the '80s, in the public's imagination. While the current members look back on some of Vince Clarke's early songs and grimace, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore's stagegay from the Exciter Tour (2001) and onwards has led to a dedicated core of "gahore" shippers. Dave seems aware that the antics go over well: " For some reason, [Martin and I] have this thing together & a great deal of people get something out of it, more than just following a band." (MOJO Interview 2013) Dave, Martin, and Fletch have spoken extensively about their 33+ year "family" relationship and letting go of past tensions.
** Not to mention this [[https://img.discogs.com/pLc-ACw1fXkIoTj22Hs_ahV_7cU=/fit-in/600x600/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-392309-1483956324-9714.jpeg.jpg album cover]]
* Music/DaftPunk have been close friends [[VictoriousChildhoodFriend since childhood]], and [[http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/daft-punk-all-hail-our-robot-overlords-20130521?page=3 Guy was mistaken for Thomas's girlfriend at least once]] when they were teenagers.
* Ever since Isabella Summers invited Florence Welch to write music with her, they clicked - Florence nicknamed the other "Machine", and they became Music/FlorenceAndTheMachine. Along with creative partners and the best of friends, they have [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=822J0PC1IXE tender]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES0jdyJWkbM moments]] that inspire fans to call them "[[PortmanteauCoupleName Florabella]]".
-->[[https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=100864570100268&set=pcb.100864813433577&type=1 Shes my babe too you know. Its a friend kiss duhh]] [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday shes not one of those gay people.]]
* The German mittelalter band Saltatio Mortis is fond of this. The guys will quite happily and openly engage in kissing, cuddling and even butt-slapping and simulated sex, and neither bagpipe player El Silbador (fittingly nicknamed 'Elsi' by the fans) nor lead singer Alea der Bescheidene [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liTHeTOc8Wk&list=PLTNmIqIdATeYyU7CiLWU0D8-stnnZ51iZ&index=4 are]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwYLvE0BOsQ&list=PLTNmIqIdATeYjnimghT-p47jKci_572iY&index=20 shy]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcvBiADdJLI about]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLoKPZNzKNQ crossdressing]].
** There's also the fact that several members of the band (mainly [[MrFanservice Alea]], Lasterbalk der Lästerliche and Luzi das L) seem to be [[WalkingShirtlessScene allergic to shirts]], which, coupled with a lot of guy-on-guy touching, takes it up to the next level. Hell, there's even a video of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlSMnO7OKVU Luzi being stripped half-naked]] by Falk von Hasen-Mümmelstein.
* Music/{{Holland|Musician}} is one of very few Korean idols who is out of the closet. His music videos feature him kissing men. He's also very supportive of LGBTQ+ rights.
* Music/BruceSpringsteen would passionately kiss Clarence Clemons onstage.
-->'''Clarence Clemons:''' [[https://www.gq.com/story/this-fucked-me-up-bruce-springsteen-singing-about-clarence-clemons “He looked at me, and I looked at him, and we fell in love.”]]
* Music/CrosbyStillsNashAndYoung was a band full of endless interpersonal drama, but until recent years the friendship between David Crosby and Graham Nash was consistently close. Very close. So close that Crosby had a room in Nash's house, they bought joint gifts for friends, and they had a double wedding. (Nash and his wife had already been married for 10 years, but they renewed their vows for the occasion.) Crosby would call Nash "beautiful". They even dated the same women, sometimes - Crosby thought that Nash and Joni Mitchell would really hit it off, so he talked them up to each other and made sure they met... in spite of the fact that he was dating Mitchell himself, at the time.
-->'''David Crosby:''' “If I was a chick I would marry the cat.”
* The primary members of Russian pop punk band Kis-Kis, Sonya Somuseva and Alina Olesheva, embody this trope. The two are very affectionate and touchy-feely with each other and have kissed each other on the lips several times. They even have a song about a girl falling in love with her best friend ("Podruga"), with the two playing lovers in the music video for it. Though it's not known for sure whether Sonya and Alina have romantic feelings for each other or if they're just [[PseudoRomanticFriendship very affectionate best friends]], the band is very supportive of LGBT+ rights.

----
!!Songs
* "Jolene" by Music/DollyParton. It's clearly meant to be the singer begging Jolene not to steal her man, but she sure does go on about how beautiful Jolene is...
-->Your beauty is beyond compare\
With flaming locks of auburn hair\
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green\
Your smile is like a breath of spring\
Your voice is soft like summer rain\
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene
* Subversion of that for "Galway Girl", originally written and sung by Sharon Shannon, then quite a few other male singers. So this was Les Yay then straight.
* When it initially came out there was a lot of confusion/fan arguments about whether the Terry referred to in the Music/BruceSpringsteen song "Backstreets" was a boy or a girl.
* Music/JoanJett singing a cover of ''Crimson and Clover''... "Well I don't hardly know her...but I think I could love her."
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIP2H59uQr0 "Don't go"]] by Fefe Dobson is loaded with this within its chorus.
-->''Don't go! / Boys and boys should be together. / Don't go! / Girls and girls could rule the world!''
* Music/TheBeatles:
** Music/JohnLennon wrote the song "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away", supposedly about the fact that Brian Epstein was homosexual (at the time, homosexuality was a crime in the UK). However, some people interpret the song as having subtext about Epstein having romantic feelings for Lennon.
** The last verse of "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da," where Paul accidentally swaps Desmond and Molly, giving the implication that Molly has taken over the shop for Desmond to start a music career in drag.
** "Well, you should see Polythene Pam. / She's so good-looking, but she looks like a man. / Well, you should see her in drag dressed in her polythene bag..."
** "Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman / But she was another man / All the girls around her say she's got it coming / But she gets it while she can..."
** And George refers to his guitar (and everything else in the world) as "diverted...perverted...inverted."
** On a similar note, "Oh! Darling," in which the singer desperately begs his darling not to leave him, declares that he'll never make it alone, and laments not being needed anymore, seems more likely to have been borne from the pain and sense of rejection Paul felt when he was replaced as John's partner by Yoko, rather than his relationship (and by the time of the recording, new marriage) with Linda.
** Could be considered petty, but in the song "Goodbye", Paul Mccartney sings "far away my lover sings a lonely song and calls me to his side". Emphasis on the "his", naturally. He wrote the song for Mary Hopkin, I believe, so that would be why, but it's a little interesting that he either is forgetting to change the lyric or is just singing it straight. Then again, there are a lot of instances of men singing songs from a female point of view.
* Music/MyChemicalRomance (stage antics aside) have some pretty Ho Yay-worthy lyrics, with song titles like "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison".
** ''Especially'' the chorus of the above song. "Just two men like God had made us", anyone?
** Followed a few lines later by the lyric "I kiss your lips again".
** "My cellmates are killers / They make me do push-ups in drag", anyone?
** "House of Wolves" sounds like their usual SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic, until you get to the chorus: "Tell me I'm a bad man / Kick me like a stray."
* Music/ViennaTeng, as mentioned on her page, has ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkYu8hBrmY8 Recessional]].'' It's definitely a love song and definitely to a woman, but it may be sung from a male perspective (she's said it's based on ''Film/EternalSunshineOfTheSpotlessMind'').
* Sophie B. Hawkins (female, as you might expect). The bridge of "Damn [[IntercourseWithYou I Wish I Was Your Lover]]" offers:
--> And I lay by the ocean making love to her with visions clear.
* The soundtrack to the 1987 teen flick Film/SummerSchool features a song performed by then-newcomer Elisa Fiorillo called "Jackie", in which the singer romantically fantasizes about someone of the same name. On top of Jackie's gender never being explicitly identified throughout the track, the second verse opens with the lyric, "I woke up smelling your perfume," a curious line to be addressing to a heterosexual guy in most situations, especially [[TheGenerationGap back]] [[TheEighties then]], but which is more conventional if Jackie is supposed to be female. In fact, these lyrics are such a prominent case of Les Yay that [[CoverVersion subsequent covers]] by Blue Zone, Joanne, and Redzone changed them to, "I woke up [[TheCoverChangesTheMeaning thinking it was you]]."
* Music/TheKillers' ''Hot Fuss''.
** The entire album...but especially "[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Andy, You're a Star]]."
** And, of course, the [[SubvertedRhymeEveryOccasion jarring slant rhyme]] in ''Mr. Brightside'' makes one suspect he indeed "wants it all":
--->''Turning lovesick lullabies,''
--->''Choking on your alibis,''
--->''But it's just the price I pay,''
---> ''Destiny is calling me,''
--->''Open up my eager eyes,''
--->'''Cause I'm Mr. Brightside.''
** And there's definitely ''something'' going on in "Somebody Told Me (That You Had a Boyfriend Who Looked Like a Girlfriend That I Had in February of Last Year)."
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MKQMUt6ByQ Just]] listen to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egxSBhfjcTU Magnet]], the Music/{{Vocaloid}} song that is typically sung by two girls. [[GirlOnGirlIsHot Mmmmm]].
-->I am wrapped around your finger from the lips to the tongue \
Even if this is '''something that cannot be allowed''' the flames jump higher still
** Or two ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkDLiMQUBsw three?!]]) guys - there are plenty of male versions. Even if the song is hardly subtext, it can cause HoYay between real-people singers who do covers, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEnk_EWsX2g and there are certainly enough.]]
** There are also a lot of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2sunzq8iFg songs]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DezBTulgmT4 like]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RrCIdDD4cc this]], with almost ''three-way'' HoYay. Complete with Len in drag.
* Pete Townsend's album ''Empty Glass'' has a couple of things that make you go "Hmmmm..."; the first song, "Rough Boys", certainly seems to be about trade, with lyrics like "Rough boys/Don't walk away/I wanna buy you leather/Make noise/Try and talk me away/We can't be seen together", while another song, "And I Moved", is all about a large mysterious man coming into the singer's room, and with lyrics like "And his hands felt like ice, exciting" and "And he laid me back just like an empty dress", there isn't much doubt as to what's going on. (Heteropanicky Who fans say he wrote the song for Music/BetteMidler and she declined to perform it so he recorded it himself, but so what? It's a song, sung by a man, about being laid down by another man; can't get much clearer than that.
* The song "[[Music/AmericanIdiot Give Me Novocaine]]" by Music/GreenDay:
-->''Out of body and out of mind''
-->''Kiss the demons out of my dreams''
-->''I get the funny feeling, that's alright''
-->''Jimmy says its better than air''
* Neutral Milk Hotel does this a lot. ''King of Carrot Flowers Part 1'' is ([[WordSaladLyrics most likely]]) about the narrator's male childhood sweetheart -- and then there's the entire first verse of ''Song Against Sex'', which pretty much leaves the realm of subtext entirely.
* Music/{{Mika}}:
** And of course, there's also "Toy Boy":
-->But your momma thought there was something wrong
-->Didn't want you sleeping with a boy too long
-->It's a serious thing in a grown-up world
-->Maybe you'd be better with a Barbie girl
** "I See You" really smacks of a pre-coming out crush, and "The Origin of Love" is essentially a scathing rebuke aimed at the more homophobic sects of Christianity.
* Dropkick Murphys' "Wicked Sensitive Crew":
-->(Ken) ...but do thugs have posters on their bedroom wall of that dude from Music/TheDarkness in that creepy meat suit (RecordNeedleScratch) zip it so low you can see... ah... (crickets)
* [[http://www.last.fm/music/Grizzly+Bear/+images/200888 This]] photo of Grizzly Bear.
* Very unexpectedly from quirky British band Half Man Half Biscuit - "So me and the ombudsman are gonna do what we can, when the evening sun goes down".
* Kris Allen's The Truth. It's a fairly typical breakup song, written by Pat Monahan from Train. The album version has just Kris singing, but someone came up with the bright idea to have Monahan sing part of the song for the single version, making it sound like they're [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RYt6aBnKT4 breaking up with each other.]]
* Music/KatyPerry's "California Gurls" (sic) [[http://www.directlyrics.com/katy-perry-california-gurls-lyrics.html makes it sound more like she's checking out the girls than like she's trying to get a guy to check her out.]] Then again, it is Katy Perry, who became famous for [[http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/k/katy_perry/i_kissed_a_girl.html another les-yay-ridden song]].
* Sarah Jane Morris has covered "Me and Mrs. Jones". TheCoverChangesTheMeaning has never been more appropriate.
* This trope also applies to Patricia O'Callaghan's cover of Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man".
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe4Ic7fHWf8 Te Amo]] by Rihanna is described in one review as "Girl meets girl. Girl speaks different language to girl. Girl loves girl. Girl doesn’t love girl. Girl sad. Girl sad."
* E-Rotic's "Queen of Light" is a confession of love to the titular Queen. It's also sung by a girl. Conclusions may be drawn.
* The Swedish [[PlayedForLaughs humoristic]] Christmas song ''Vår julskinka har rymt'' ("Our Christmas ham has escaped"), in which two men named Werner and Werner, who apparenly at least live together, discover that [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin their Christmas ham has escaped]] from the oven and they don't know what to do, because the relatives will arrive within the hour.
* A lot of Belle and Sebastian songs have this. There's at least one flavour of Yay in "Seeing Other People"; either it's two boys kissing just for practice, or it's a girl and a guy -- the latter of which is suggesting that the girl should perhaps turn her attention to girls. "Judy and the Dream of Horses" has a decidedly bisexual protagonist. "Jonathan David," in addition to the homoerotic Biblical reference, can be read to be a guy pining after another guy, who's pining after a girl -- if read in a certain way. And "She's Losing It" is just about lesbians.
* Music/PaulSimon: Just what were the singer and Julio doing down by the schoolyard that was so scandalous, anyway? (Paul Simon has apparently said in an interview that he [[ShrugOfGod doesn't actually know]], but "assume[s] it was something sexual", whatever exactly that means.)
* Music/MaayaSakamoto has several love songs to women, the official explanation being that she's singing from a male perspective. This, however, doesn't stop songs like "[[http://www.animelyrics.com/jpop/sakamoto/ahappyending.htm A Happy Ending]]" (perhaps the most blatant example) from sounding kinda gay.
* Music/LeonardCohen's much-covered "Hallelujah" has the singer (male) addressing a person (gender not specified) with whom he has had a sexual relationship. However, the "you saw her bathing on the roof / her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you" bit suggests that the person in question has also been in a relationship with, or at least been attracted to, a woman. So it's either a man singing to a bisexual woman or a man singing to another man (also bisexual).
The person bathing on the roof is probably intended to be Bathsheba, and the person watching David (as mentioned in the first verse "that David played and it pleased the Lord"). In the verse beginning "you saw her bathing on the roof", it's an omniscient narrator singing. Isn't it? Honestly, half the verses in that song could be about anything.
* In Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me", the person the singer wants to kiss her apparently has a flowered hat. So it's either a woman or a [[RealMenWearPink real man]].
** Their cover version of The La's "There She Goes" doesn't change the female pronouns, making some listeners (especially those who [[CoveredUp aren't aware it's a cover]]) perceive it as a love song to another woman. WordOfGod is they just didn't want to alter the lyrics.
* Sandra’s "Crazy Juliet", from her third album ''Into a Secret Land''. The song is about a woman who feels [[Literature/TheStepfordWives chastised by marriage]], and Sandra wants some midnight action with her to restore some excitement to her life. Considering Sandra’s enormous [[LGBTFanbase gay fanbase]], the lyrics probably resonated with a lot of closeted homosexual men married to women in the 1980s.
* The final song on Spagna’s ''Dedicated to the Moon'', "Girl, It’s Not the End of the World", is ostensibly just the singer comforting a woman who just suffered from a breakup, but due to the whispered "come on, come on, come on, come on, girl" interludes, it simultaneously comes across as a sexual advance.
* One way to interpret at least the lyrics of Mumford and Sons' "White Blank Pages" would be a gay man (since the vocals are male) singing about his heartbreak over his lover staying in the closet and with a woman.
* Kamelot's "Descent of the Archangel"; one man singing to another (well, a male character singing to another, but both played by the same vocalist).
--> Name a pleasure
--> One...a few
--> Any form
--> Of lust in you
--> Will tremble at my touch
** Roy Khan's previous band, Conception, had a song ''Angel (Come Walk With Me)'', that was very similar in theme and had just as much Ho Yay.
--> I feel you right inside me
--> (love cannot be real if there is no hate)
--> all around me
--> (pain is just a pleasure in a different shape)
* Music/{{Shakira}}'s "She-Wolf"
--> There's a she-wolf [[TransparentCloset in the closet]] / open up and let it free [howl]
* ''Je te donne'', a duet between Jean-Jacques Goldman and Michael Jones, is about the chemistry between a songwriter and a musician. It says a lot that the song's chorus is often used for declarations of love, or even for ''marriage vows''.
* The B-52's do this constantly, having had 4 gay members (one of whom died). With the exception of the guy who died the rest of the band came out in 1992. That didn't stop them slipping in veiled references:
** Rock Lobster features the line "Boys in bikinis, girls with surfboards"
** 52 Girls has the girls singing the virtues of a lot of other girls...lesbian HoYay which may be unintentional..
** Dirty Back Road really is about butt sex.
** Strobe Light features the line "I want to kiss your pineapple".
** Cake is a veiled reference to lesbian sex.
** Song For A Future Generation humorously has most of the band pretending to be straight with Ricky Wilson's spoken line "i like computers and hot tamales" being spoken in the most camp voice imaginable.
** Wig features pretty camp dialogue at the start.
** Theme For A Nude Beach features the line "I am a man" sung by a woman.
** Hot Corner features the line "He's a mess but he's really pretty" sung by Fred, who had come out by this point.
*** Fred's solo career is loaded with this but the Just Fred era "What I Want" is explicitly about gay sex, which is why it wasn't included on the album.
* A few of Music/TheFray 's songs seem to have some HoYay , especially "Over My Head."
** That song is about a fight with the singer's brother
* Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More" contains the lyric "I wanna feel you move inside of me" metaphor for gay sex or AccidentalInnuendo? You decide
* The lyrics to the song "If I Know You" by Music/ThePresets.
* Music/FranzFerdinand: "Do You Want To". ''"Your famous friend, well, I blew him before you..."''
* Music/TheVeronicas:
** ''I'll hang onto what she said, it sounds perfect in my head'' in their song "Everything"
** "Everytime" had "I'll hang onto what she said, it sounds perfect in my head"
* The Architecture in Helsinki song "Contact High" is sung by a boy, to a boy. ("Am I guilty? Boy, you decide...")
* The Spin Doctors' cover of KC & the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way (I Like It)" features guest singer Biz Markie singing the song as a duet with lead singer Chris Barron (KC's version was sung solo with backup). Now, it's ''possible'' that they're both singing to the same girl, but the back-and-forth gets a bit Ho Yayish, and can be seen as them singing to ''each other''.
-->'''Markie:''' When I get to be in your arms...\
'''Barron:''' When we're all...all alone?\
'''Markie:''' When you whisper sweet in my ear...\
'''Barron:''' When you turn, OH YOU TURN ME ON!
* "Tall Boy" by Har Mar Superstar is partially just an OdeToIntoxication ("tall boy" is slang for a large can of beer), but is full of blatant, deliberate innuendo that can also be read as sexual desire for a literal tall boy: Part of the refrain is "Where's my tall boy? / To satisfy my needs / feel like drinkin' / So come on get inside of me". The song also has him referring to himself as "the queen of the party". In truth, Sean Tillmann wrote the song with the intention of giving it to Music/BritneySpears - when it was rejected, he decided it fit his Har Mar Superstar "persona" and just recorded it himself without changing any content.
* Even Music/TheCars get into this with the 1977 demo version (not the album version, however) of "Ta Ta Wayo Wayo." The song's about the features of a beautiful city, and includes the line "the girls are so pretty"; in the last verse, this is switched to "the ''boys'' are so pretty."
* The Go-Gos when singing a cover of "Surf City":
--->When I get to Surf City I'll be shootin' the curl\
And checkin' out the parties for a surfer girl
* Know Bob and Shawn - No BS sing the line "Do you still get a thrill when you see me coming up the hill?" which refers the act of performing fellatio when doing [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SNCXd2WXbU their cover of K.T. Oslin's "Do Ya"]].
* Although Cheryl Ladd's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXH5QLs_FPM "Just Another Lover Tonight"]] is about a [[BeAwhoreToGetYourMan woman sowing her wild oats]], it's hinted that the main protagonist has [[YaoiFangirl the hots for a bisexual guy]]:
--->You think you're undetected\
Your moves would go unnoticed\
Well, why does that lead me to you?\
What redeeming value\
Do you think you'll find next?\
And will you land on your feet just like I do?\
\
Oh so you want him\
And you [[http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dogging&defid=1070506 dog]] him\
That's no problem\
He's just another lover\
You can do him\
You can use him\
'Til you lose him
* Music/MarilynManson did a cover of "You're So Vain", but unlike most, did not bother to change the gender of the subject. Adding to this, rather than one of his most famous HoYay partners, Twiggy Ramirez, being on guitar, one of his other ones, Johnny Depp, is.
* Music/LittleBigTown's song "Girl Crush" generated controversy in country music circles over the perceived ho yay in its lyrics. Then again, you hear lines like "I wanna taste her lips/ yeah because they taste like you" from a female vocalist, it's not exactly surprising that more conservative listeners would take issue with it.
* WebVideo/NotLiterallyProductions' FilkSong "I Ship It" is a shipper's anthem. The third verse describes this kind of shipping.
-->They keep on saying they're not gay, but yeah I really doubt that,\
This can't just be a bromance, who would write a show about that?\
I think the subtext in the second season's pretty clear,\
Don't tell me I need to calm down--\
I don't care, I ship it!
* The aforementioned Sam Tsui [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lNWr2xKYVw did a cover of "Love Me Like You Do"]] by Ellie Goulding with fellow singer Alex Goot. While the original was a solo, this one is clearly supposed to be a passionate romantic duet and it's being sung by two men.
** Similarly, Sam and his previously mentioned friend Kurt Schneider [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0Yexe9PJL8 also did a duet cover of "Clarity" together]]. Once again, their version turns the song into a romantic duet whilst the original was a solo, and it's being sung by two men.
* Music/IggyPop's ''Candy'' is about Iggy's character singing about how he misses a former love named Candy, who joins in later on to sing how she also misses him and hasn't found a lover like him since. Or does she? The female singer goes unnamed and never directly addresses Iggy's character, mentions how "Down on the street, those men are all the same, I need a love" and eventually joins the chorus ''praising Candy''. Is she Candy singing about how all men other than Iggy are only interested in her for the sex, or is she someone who can't fall in love in men [[ClosetKey after meeting Candy]]? You decide!
* "I never loved a man (the way that I love you)" by Music/ArethaFranklin: The songwriter's likely intention: the singer loves her new male lover more than her previous men. Some listeners' preferred interpretation: the singer loves her new female lover more than her previous men.

!!Music Videos
* The music video for Guns N Roses' ''November Rain'' becomes screamingly hilarious (and makes a lot of sense) if you pretend it's about Axl and Izzy's bitter breakup, while Slash vents his confusion and fear over Mommy and Daddy breaking up in the form of a guitar solo.
* The video for 'Crazy' by Aerosmith. You could choke on the Les Yay between Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler. Also, Girls of Summer has some moments... Rumor has it there was even going to be a kiss in "Crazy," but Steven Tyler nixed it.
* In her "Never Ending Dream" music video, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0nXZJjRlYE&NR=1 Cascada does everything but show live sex with a lesbian harem.]] It's not even much of an IntercourseWithYou song, either.
* Music/BritneySpears and Music/{{Madonna}} in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaUtvA8wtf0 Me Against the Music]]. The plot of the video is essentially Britney pursuing Madonna around a nightclub and a maze while they both steadily lose clothing and sing suggestively to each other. At the end, Britney actually has Madonna pinned up against a wall and is about to kiss her when Madonna (inexplicably) disappears, leaving Britney looking disappointed.
* The music video for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HasaQvHCv4w Dancing in the Street]]" with Music/DavidBowie and Music/MickJagger.
* The All-American Rejects' music video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxUATkpMQ8A Give You Hell]] plays out like a break-up between Tyson Ritter and... [[ActingForTwo Tyson Ritter]].
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ95z6ywcBY "Telephone"]], with Music/LadyGaga and Music/{{Beyonce}}, is dripping LesYay of epic proportions between Beyonce and Gaga. In the prison sequence, Gaga has an interrupted heavy makeout with two butch lesbians.
* In [[https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2j522 this video]] of Sean Lennon and M's duet "L'eclipse", they just seem to be quite friendly with each other... until the ending. You ''must'' watch all the way to the ending.
* Check out Vanilla Ninja's video of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Hi5Dx8aRiY Tough Enough]]". Two of the girls are frequently inches away from making out, especially near the end.
* Richard Grey's "Warped Bass (Tainted Love)" video. Contains so much LesYay, [=YouTube=] won't have it.
* Sarah Brightman's and Hot Gossip's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL6MAyTXMRA I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper]] has a fair amount of LesYay.
* As does Music/{{Prince}}'s [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9qQRoZtQxQ&feature=related 1999]].
* The video of O-Zone's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRx5PrAlUdY&feature=fvw Dragostea Din Tei]]. They are ALL OVER each other in that video. Arms-around-neck action everywhere, and just altogether too close for it to be considered normal for anyone who's not from a country that has that closeness between straight men.
* Music/{{ABBA}}
** A lot of their music videos have the two girls singing very close to each other (one facing ahead, the other in profile). This video for "Money Money Money" they actually look come close to kissing at [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETxmCCsMoD0 1:10]].
** In any performance of "Mamma Mia", a part of their choreography is to turn to face each other at the "My, my, I should not have let you go" part of the lyrics.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWquLde-HNM video for Melodies]] by [[Music/HelloProject GAM]] is full of this.
* I've Sound's PV for "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGoxspODJ7M See You]]" features a brief scene of two members of the (all-female) group kissing, although it's in such tight close-up that it's hard to tell which ones.
* There's nothing overtly sexual, but still Courtney and Melissa look like ''very'' good friends in Music/{{Hole}}'s Gold Dust Woman video.
* For a song called "Sexy Bitch", Akon and David Guetta seem to barely interact with the women. Instead, they hold hands, jump into the pool together, and are generally extremely close throughout the video.
* In "Raise Your Glass", Music/{{Pink}} is seen in bed with a young nun.
** Never mind that, the explicit version of "Sober" has her engaging in some very heavy petting with some kind of clone of herself. It's also the only version available through certain outlets.
* The video for Music/AmandaPalmer's "What's the Use in Won'drin?" seems to be setting up a story of a battered wife who's secretly in love with a female friend until the last thirty seconds or so, when it makes a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lzek4sHZp-c&feature=channel distinct turn for the darker]].
** Palmer does it again in her music video for "Do It With a Rockstar," which features her in bed with a female fan (warning: [[https://vimeo.com/51732600 video]] is NSFW).
* Music/{{Rammstein}} are mentioned earlier up the page, but their music videos are sometimes filled to the brim with HoYay. ''Mann Gegen Mann'' is the obvious example, but ''Haifisch'' also applies. While every other band member is dreaming about killing Till, Paul is imagining Till spanking him. Make of that what you will.
* Music/ThePresets get a bit, most obviously with the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKwnc7QpUt0 Video]] for the appropriately named "This Boy's In Love."
* Music/FooFighters videos, i.e. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBG7P-K-r1Y "Everlong"]]. Dave Grohl was also in Music/{{Nirvana}}, with Kurt "if not for Courtney, I would have a bisexual lifestyle" Cobain.
* Crowded House's video for "Something So Strong" is quite suggestive of this. The fact that they look like they're serenading each other and the almost-kisses are prime factors. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyBKzBtaKWM Just take a gander.]]
** Ditto the video for "Now We're Getting Somewhere" where they're rolling around in the snow with each other. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6Vl_OFScbc As you do.]]
* Portishead's "Glory Box" has a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF-GvT8Clnk music video]] with ''double'' HoYay. There's loads of sexual and romantic tension between the [[HoYay guys]], but they're all played by [[LesYay women]].
* The video for "MASQUERADE" by Music/{{Versailles}} contains two very, very [[http://i49.tinypic.com/50329z.png brief]] [[http://i49.tinypic.com/zwzvwo.png scenes]] of Kamijo and Hizaki slow-dancing with each other. Later, there's another slow-motion shot of Hizaki--which then fades into a shot of Kamijo singing the first lines of the song's chorus: [[GratuitousEnglish "I can't leave you alone / When I close my eyes..."]] Despite being barely seconds of footage, it was enough to send fandom wild.
* The video for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv49bC5xGVY "Shame"]] by Music/RobbieWilliams and Music/GaryBarlow of Music/TakeThatBand, which features the two slowdancing with women while their eyes are firmly locked on each other, caressing, gazing lovingly at each other, and undressing together.
** Take That in general were pretty infamous for this sort of thing back in the nineties, to the extent of causing quite a lot of gossip. Most notably, their very first music video [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpqAXZI0s0s Do What You Like]], which features all five of them wearing leather-and-chains bondage gear, [[MudWrestling wrestling in jelly and whipped cream]]. And then there's the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3swlnDY5JZM uncensored version]] ({{NSFW}}), which features the exact same thing, but with more semi-nudity - bare arses are shown. With them all lying right next to each other, face down on the floor, of course.
* The video of Music/TheKillers' "Just Another Girl" is sung by Brandon Flowers, yes, but has Creator/DiannaAgron as the face - a girl singing about another girl.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdUiCJnRptk Please Don't]] by K. Will. The video makes it seems as though Seo In Guk has a crush on his female friend (played by Sistar's Dasom,) [[spoiler:and it's not until the end of the video that you realize he wasn't in love with her, but rather her now husband. The video ends with him sitting in the car, ripping a picture of the three of them (from Dasom and Ahn Jaehyun's wedding) in half, before pushing it together, making it look like Jaehyun is leaning his head on Inguk's shoulder.]] The entire video's sort of heart breaking, but also known for being one of the only (if not the only; only one I can think of) music videos in mainstream Korean music that obviously features a guy (or girl) liking another guy (or girl.)
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVVfMFS3mgc Heart Attack]] by Korean girl group Music/{{LOONA}} was received as a lesbian love story. LOONA's 10th member, Chuu, pines over LOONA's 9th member, Yves. In the video, she does everything she can think of to get Yves' attention. She takes photos of her, listens to her song, copies her dance moves, and gives her increasingly larger apples to try to win her affection. While all this happens, she sings very lovey-dovey lyrics, such as "this must be what falling in love is / dipped you inside my white heart, made it red." To put the cherry on top of this very gay cake, the description of the video explicitly states that Chuu is in love with Yves.
* It's [[WillTheyOrWontThey implied]] in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SArW2QjMIEo video]] for "Hangin' In" that Music/TanyaTucker's going to have [[GuyOnGuyIsHot a bisexual]] [[AThreesomeIsHot MMMF foursome]] with the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SArW2QjMIEo#t=1m49s the 3 hunks]].
* Music/MarilynManson's video for "Dope Hat" has him snog Twiggy Ramirez, an early entry in a tradition still going over 20 years later. Later on, in the music video for [=(s)AINT=], he has a threesome with Eric Szmanda and former bassist (until a Christmas heroin OD led to Twiggy replacing him a little under a decade before this video) Gidget Gein (who died in 2009 of a heroin OD), both men.
* Cindy Margolis [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DVOIjEGX00 sings "Crazy Bitch"]] by Music/{{Buckcherry}} which is about [[IntercourseWithYou wanting to have rough sex with a woman]], while drunk at a private party.
* Music/TheVeronicas are a pair of (fraternal) twin sisters who have a habit of being very touchy-feely with each other in their videos, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShQTEUjdBxY Hook Me Up]] being the biggest example.
* Music/{{Holland|Musician}}'s videos show him kissing men. He's one of the few Korean idols who is out of the closet. "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVzGsh0zRec Neverland]]" and "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE5KFB9LbxY I am not Afraid Anymore]]" are the most blatant.
* Music/{{GFRIEND}}'s music videos plot is based primarily on friendship, but is also perceived as gay coded by the audience. Especially after [[https://youtu.be/1ZhDsPdvl6c Navillera]], where Yerin falls in love with Eunha and confesses her love to her. A subplot in the overall storyline, but it was [[HoYay/{{GFRIEND}} confirmed]] by the members as part of the story.
* Finnish pop-rock band PMMP's music video for their song "Rakkaalleni". The song itself is about a deteriorating romantic relationship, most likely a married one due to the line "on lapset liian pieniä" ("the children are too young"). Since Finnish doesn't have grammatical genders or gendered pronouns, it could be interpreted as either a straight or lesbian relationship.
