!!Novels
* ''Before Dishonor'' as a whole, but anything to do with [[PlutoIsExpendable Pluto in general]].
--> Well, that solves ''that'' dilemma.
* In ''The Kobayashi Maru'', Kirk, Sulu, Scotty, and Chekov are [[LockedInARoom trapped in a crippled shuttlecraft]] and decide to pass the time by telling stories of their runs through The KobayashiMaru test. Kirk explains how he managed to "win" by hacking into the computer the night before and tweaking the code slightly...
-->'''Kirk''':"This is Captain James T. Kirk, of the USS Potemkin. We are on a rescue mission in search of a civilian freighter registered with the United Federation of Planets. We mean no harm, but we will defend ourselves if necessary."
-->'''Klingon''': Captain Kirk? ''[[SpellMyNameWithAThe The]]'' [[ShroudedInMyth Captain Kirk?]]
-->Kirk fought a smile as his bridge crew exclaimed in a single voice, "''The'' Captain Kirk?" The "dead" navigator [[{{Corpsing}} began to laugh.]]
* ''Legends of the Ferengi'' is basically the [[Franchise/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy Guide Book]] as rewritten by CMOTDibbler. It never dips below "very funny", but the CMOF has to be the [[DeadpanSnarker deadpan]] description of what happens when TimeTravelForFunAndProfit [[JustForFun/XMeetsY meets]] GambitPileup:
-->''17822 was a ''very'' interesting year on Ferenginar. In that year alone, over twenty thousand Grand Nagi held office; the Ferengi Financial Exchange crashed 3152 times, while setting 12322 record highs; there were 41098 civil wars; an unknown number of Ferengi-incited interstellar wars (estimates are in the millions); and the Ferengi sun went nova at least once a week.\
In other words, 17822 was the year Ferenginar discovered time travel.''
* The TNG novel ''Q-in-Law'', in which Q and Lwaxana Troi meet. Just the tagline should give you some idea: "Two of the most powerful forces in the galaxy are about to collide..."
** Q learns that he made a ''big mistake" in pretending to be attracted to Luxwana Troi … the hard way.
--->'''Riker:''' She's really beating the stuffing out of him. What should we do?\
'''Worf:''' Sell tickets.
** The B-plot of Wesley's adventures with a [[CuteClumsyGirl "servant"]] he received as a gift. If AmusingInjuries can happen in a non-cartoon setting, this qualified.
* ''Imzadi'' isn't exactly a ''[[BadFuture funny]]'' novel, but it has its moments:
** Admiral Riker has been summoned to the Troi estate because Lwaxana Troi is dying. When he arrives, she is described as lying peacefully in her bed, until he leans close to give a HeartfeltApology, and she suddenly grabs him by the throat, trying to throttle him. Less funny after you soon learn why she hates Will: she holds him responsible for Deanna's death.
** Captain Wesley Crusher, in a moment of overshare, mentions that he had a crush on Deanna when he was younger, and especially liked her form-fitting blue-green dress. Riker remarked that he liked it too, and would wear it sometimes on the Holodeck. After letting Wesley process that mental image for a few uncomfortable moments, he claims he was joking.
** Admiral Riker goes through a box of Troi's personal mementos, and finds a love poem he wrote when he was a Lieutenant on Betazed. Rather than read the poem to the audience, the Admiral just remarks that it was ''terrible'' and he can't believe he gave it to Troi, nevermind that she kept it for the rest of her life.
*** We later learn that this isn't an older and wiser Will cringing at his younger self: Lieutenant Riker thought it was pretty terrible when he wrote it, but Deanna snatched it from him when she realized what it was.
** Lieutenant Riker agrees to accompany the Federation Ambassador's daughter to the wedding of the daughter of one of Betazed's noble houses. Nobody warns him that Betazoid weddings are performed nude, however.
** Sergeant Tang demonstrates just how versatile Starfleet Noncommissioned Officers can be. He can deploy sharpshooters to stun a group of raiders without harming their hostage, he handily hits the fleeing ship with a [[{{BFG}} man-portable anti-aircraft phaser]] with a crippling shot, shares his booze with Riker when he sees the Lieutenant is heartbroken, and will even shut up if told to.
** Commander Will Riker has to face a barrage of insults from a ''very'' grumpy [[spoiler: Admiral Riker]] when he is slow to agree to the demands of probably the last person he expected to appear in his quarters in the night.
** Troi is saved from a would-be assassin when a golden object flies over her shoulder and knocks them down before rolling to her feet. When she picks it up, the golden object ([[ItMakesSenseInContext Data's head]]) suggests that she should duck before the uncomprehending ship's counselor is bowled over by [[spoiler: Data's body, charging at the aforementioned would-be assassin.]]
** It is finally revealed that much of the conflict was simply a result of the Starfleet officers stationed on Forever Planet [[PoorCommunicationKills not thinking to ask the Guardian of Forever just what was going on.]]
* John Vornholt's ''War Drums'': Federation colonists on a rugged planet are being attacked by a gang of feral Klingon teenagers (think ''Literature/LordOfTheFlies'', RecycledInSpace). With difficulty, Worf befriends one of the teenagers and starts to clean him up. When the colonists' "president" is brought to the ''Enterprise'', he immediately reacts with hostility at the Klingon's presence, and then complains that the away team Picard is sending down is made up entirely of nonhumans (the android Data, the Klingon Worf, and the Bajoran Ro Laren). When he leaves, everyone in the conference room is at a loss for words to react to the man's overt racism. Then the young Klingon blows a loud raspberry in the direction of the President's exit, and everyone agrees he's expressed their own sentiments perfectly.

* Pretty much every moment with Harry Mudd in the second volume of DC's ''Star Trek'' comic.
