The story develops as this: in 2004 ATB, the [[{{Qurac}} Federal Republic of Krugis]] request aid from the [[TheEmpire Holy Britannian Empire]] and the Emperor sends his Knight of One, Bismarck Waldstein to help to stabilize the region. The operation is successful and Krugis is incorporated in the Empire as Area 7, with Bismarck as its Vice-Roy, who allows it to keep its cultural identity.

There, he is impressed by the courage of a street urchin named Soran, who fights until the end while outnumbered and decides to adopt him as his son. As Alexander B. 9!!'''This fic contains examples of the following tropes, in addition to those already present in the source material:'''
[[folder:Rebooted Version]]
* TheAce: Alexander is both very clever and an extremely hard worker. This allows him to excel at almost anything he tries. Notably he both graduates Valedictorian from Colchester Academy (Britannia's most distinguished Academy) and was top of his class from the Imperial Military Academy (which included future Knight of the Round Monica Kruszweski).
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Cornelia is ''much'' nicer in the story then in canon and the original story. In particular she doesn't commit the massacre of the Yamato ghetto. In addition her racism toward the Japanese is greatly toned down. While she does order Suzaku to execute Todoh like in the original its not a cruel test like in canon but an action forced on her due to political pressure and she genuinely feels bad putting him in that position.
* AFatherToHisMen: While a bit distant,Alexander cares deeply for all the soldiers placed under command.
* OddCouple: Alexander and Shirley. One is an aristocrat who grew up with royalty, and is a rising star in the Britannian military, while the other is an ordinary middle class girl.
* ParentsAsPeople: Bismark loves Alexander more then anyone else but being the First Knight means that he has many duties across the Empire so he has a rather hands off approach to raising his son. Alexander doesn't hold it against him and loves and idolizes his father.
* RagsToRiches: Alexander started off as a street kid named Soran struggling to survive on the streets of Tehran. After being adopted by the Knight of One he becomes a Britannian aristocrat who grows up alongside royalty in palaces.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Original Version]]
* AdaptationalNameChange: Ali al-Saachez is renamed Hamid, but the name does show up as an alias of his.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: ''Ali al-Saachez'' of all people gets this. While still a {{Jerkass}} BloodKnight, his most heinous actions from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'' such as creating a terrorist cell of ChildSoldiers ForTheEvulz and driving them to kill their parents are absent. He's also given a sympathetic backstory, having lost his parents and brother in the Krugis civil war.
* AFatherToHisMen: Bismarck is this, and has passed this onto Alexander quite obviously.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Michael Trinity. And what Carline thinks of Nunnally up to eleven, [[SarcasmMode of course]].
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Of Type 2, when Princess Marina asks Alexander if he's a boy named Soran and he [[BerserkButton really gets angry]]. But thanks to Mena, they solve the misunderstanding which is not a misunderstanding, they are cool now.
* BerserkButton: See above for Alexander. Same with Cornelia when she ripped on Soran because he didn't do anything to impede Euphemia to create the SAZ. She felt bad afterward.
** Later on, [[spoiler:Alexander ''really'' wants to kill Luciano as he thinks Luciano responsible for Euphemia's death.]] He gets some of it right, but not all of it.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: The Skirted Devils are a force of girls that fight in sailor-fuku uniforms and the intelligence reports says that they're one of the most vicious anti-Britannian groups.
* BreakHisHeartToSaveHim: An odd example: Villetta is breaking both hers and Graham's hearts, but she is willing to restart their relationship should Villetta survive the war
* BigBadassBattleSequence: The finale of its equivalent of [=R1=].
* BloodKnight: Hamid, but he [[FreudianExcuse has reasons]].
* BootCampEpisode: Part of Alexander's CharacterDevelopment, his training in the Benedict Arnold Military Academy is described in detail.
* BreakTheCutie: Soran saw Marianne's corpse and a traumatized Nunnally before Cornelia covered his eyes.
* CallMyName: The last thing that [[spoiler:Alexander]] says is "LELOUCH!".
* ChildProdigy: Jacque Saint-Clare.
* ChristmasEpisode: Chapter 19.
* CoolBigSis: Cornelia is this for Alexander.
* DecadentCourt: Carline discusses with Nena which siblings they should kill.
* DeathByChildbirth: How Alexander's mother died in the ''official'' version.
* DownerEnding: [[spoiler:The Black Rebellion is quelled, Lelouch is captured and Alexander fails to protect Cornelia and is defeated by Hamid.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Hamid has his one when he hijacks a Ganymede prototype in Tal Afar, wreaks havoc between the Krugisian military, and then shoots the dog.
--> "Sorry guys, but the bastards win every time. And I'm the biggest bastard of them all!"
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: Princess Cornelia, Nonnette Enneagram, Villeta Nu, and Graham Aker all attended Gloucester Military Academy while Alexander Waldenstein served as Cornelia's page
* EvilVersusEvil: [[spoiler:Hamid versus Luciano. You cheer for them kill each other.]]
* ForWantOfANail: During the incorporation of Krugis, Bismarck adopts Soran, who was a street boy [[spoiler:and had a brother who likes to call himself Hamid.]]
* FusionFic: Characters of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'' added to ''Anime/CodeGeass'' universe.
* GambitPileup
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Kati Mannequin to Saji, [[spoiler:after he discovers his sister killed Euphemia.]]
* GrayAndGreyMorality: The EU is not perfect, but it's [[ALighterShadeOfGrey the lighter shade of gray]] of the setting. Lampshaded by Hamid:
--> "Even the last bastion of freedom and democracy has dirty work that needs doing".
* GoodRepublicEvilEmpire: Krugis and Britannia. Krugis is portrayed as being pacifists TokenGoodTeammate to Britannia, but which extent of this reflects the Krugisian society is up to debate [[note]]Some readers are even suspecting that Krugis is under AlternateHistoryWank thanks to the Britannian incorporation.[[/note]].
* HairTriggerTemper: Michael.
* HeroAntagonist: Lelouch, especially [[spoiler:after Euphemia's death. Since, differently from canon, she didn't go nuts and it wasn't him who killed Euphemia, Zero tries to set her as a martyr against the Britannian occupation and rally the Japanese.]]
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Basically the entire point of the fic, even if Soran is on the Empire's side.
* HeroicBSOD: Alexander suffers a bad one with Empress Marianne's death. His father had to tell a GetAHoldOfYourselfMan speech to him.
* HiddenDepths: Bismarck. Starting by the beginning with the fact that he was MarriedToTheJob and never had a son, he is a very honorable man.
* HonorBeforeReason: Hamid chastises the Britannians for this trait.
** And in Fukuoka, it's shown he's NotSoAboveItAll.
* ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe: Pretty much Shirley. She gets complimented by it by Mena.
* InnocentProdigy: Alexander. The [[spoiler:Luluko incident]] only deepens this trait.
* ItsNotYouItsMe: Villetta after she reunites with Graham in spades.
* KilledMidSentence: [[spoiler:Euphemia.]]
* LargeHam:
--> "Get ready for a surprise! [[spoiler:HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'RE'S HALLELUJAAAAAAAAH HAAAAPTIISMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAH!"]]
* LoveHurts: Hinted at between Kallen and Lelouch when Kallen appears in the big finale. Same with Graham after reuniting with Villetta and Soran failing to protect Cornelia.
* LoveIsAWeakness: What Graham thought of love during his interactions with Villeta, but Soma makes him realize how wrong he is.
* LoveTriangle: Between Graham, Ohgi, and Viletta. See above.
* MaleGaze: Neil and Allejujah Haptism (the latter with teasing of his evil side).
* MeaningfulRename: From Soran to Alexander Bismarck Waldstein.
* MoralityChain: Lelouch realizes, after Geassing Hamid to reveal his motivations, how important Nunnally is to him, or else [[NotSoDifferentRemark he would be just like him]].
* TheMourningAfter: Graham to Viletta. [[NotQuiteDead However...]]
* PlayingTheVictimCard: Nena, when she accuses Alexander of harassing her. Thanks to Mena revealing the truth, it ends fair for him.
* PretextForWar: [[spoiler:Britannia will use the European interference in Japan to wage war against them.]]
* PunchClockVillain: The Knight of Rounds, by canon, but Bismarck here takes up to eleven.
* RagsToRiches: The entire point of Soran's adoption.
* ReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** [[spoiler:Carline]] delivers a particularly jarring one to Cornelia, when she wonders whether she wanted to make Euphie Empress with the blood of the world.
** Hamid to Kallen, on her terrorist activities.
* ReligiousStereotype: Before the Britannian incorporation, East Krugistan was basically filled with fundamentalists, compared with Central Krugis' moderate monarchs and West Krugis' pro-democratic stance.
* TheRival: Hamid to Alexander, to the point of their confrontation in Fukuoka, is almost a BigLippedAlligatorMoment.
* SecretKeeper: Lelouch knows about Alexander's past.
* SexySantaDress: Milly as usual, in the ChristmasEpisode.
* ShipTease: There is a lot of indications of Shirley/Alexander.
** And it seems those indications [[RelationshipUpgrade are evolving]].
* ShootTheShaggyDog: Selim was the only one from Hamid's team to make it alive from the Knightmare hangar in Tal Afar and then Hamid kills him without remorse.
** Luciano does this to [[spoiler:Kinue, however, he gave her a dose of [[LetThemDieHappy Refrain before she died]].]]
---> '''Luciano''': Accept this, the limit of the Vampire of Britannia's compassion."
* ShoutOut:
--> '''Hallelujah''': "[[Videogame/TeamFortress2 What's that Siegy? Kill them all? Good Idea!]]"
* ShowerOfAwkward: Alexander accidentally sees Cornelia naked and ran away, and then he accidentally stumbles upon a plan of the guys to steal panties from the girls.
* SmittenTeenageGirl: Shirley towards Alexander.
* [[SerialKillerKiller Terrorist-Killer Terrorist]]: Hamid.
* TokenMinority: Cyrus Abdullah, ''for some reason that has to be explained yet'', is currently the only non-Britannian Knight of the Round. He still gets a lot of racism, though.
* UnderTheMistletoe: Alexander and Shirley.
* UndyingLoyalty: [[spoiler:Alexander refuses to abandon Cornelia when Lelouch requests his services and then he has to use his Geass to make him forget it.]]
* VillainousRescue: [[spoiler:Jeremiah]] saves both Lelouch and Cornelia from [[spoiler:Carline]].
* VillainousValor: Hamid displays this in the season finale, even considering that's to save his own skin, [[spoiler:charging alone at the Britannian forces to ensure their withdraw is an action that demands a lot of courage.]]
* YouCantThwartStageOne: [[spoiler:The Black Rebellion fails, but with an important difference: most of the Japanese staff managed to evacuate.]]
* WhamEpisode: Chapter 15. [[spoiler:Euphemia dies, but in a different way than canon, and we discover that Hamid and Soran are siblings.]]
* WorthyOpponent. Hamid considers Alexander this, and despite Alexander's hatred of him he privately thinks this as well. [[spoiler: In the battle for Magadan, Alexander expresses this sentiment far more openly and less reluctantly about Kallen and her Guren.]]
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Nonnette believes that Princess Marina is very wise when it comes to war issues.
