-->'''Class:''' Wizard
-->'''Race:''' Human

The daughter of two wizards of the Imperial Citadel. As a child, Suvi was sent to live with the witch Grandmother Wren for a summer when her parents went off on a dangerous mission. After learning her parents died, Suvi returned to the Citadel to begin her own wizard training, rising through the ranks to become an apprentice to one of the archmages. Now as an adult, she gets word that Grandmother Wren is dying, and on a trip to see her old caretaker and say goodbye one last time, gets thrust into a new adventure that will reunite her with old friends and lead her to uncover powerful magical secrets.
----

* AchillesInHisTent: Having been unnecessary in [[spoiler: rescuing Ame and treating with Orima, then getting scolded by Steel for sneaking out of Port Talon to do so]], she decides to stay in her room during [[spoiler: Naram's rampage]], not feeling she has anything to add. When [[spoiler: Orima's plants start to encroach on the city and Sergeant Laplo asks her for help]], she is confronted with a situation where she feels both the ability and obligation to help and rides to the city's defense.
* BadassBookworm: SquishyWizard though she may be, Suvi is fully ready to throw down with anyone who gives her or her loved ones trouble, and will often wield her status and magical abilities to make threats that she seems fully ready to follow up on.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: She has a tendency to make decisions on impulse without considering the potential consequences.
** She embarks on a journey with Ame to recover Wavebreaker without checking in with the Citadel or at least informing them of her whereabouts, [[spoiler: causing Steel to assume she has been killed or captured after her speaking mirror breaks.]]
** She does this again [[spoiler: in episode 9, pursuing Ame outside the city walls despite Steel's direct orders to stay put. Steel is understandably furious and court-martials Suvi in response.]]
* TheEmpire: Is a loyal soldier to and being groomed for leadership in the Citadel, a group of wizard in service to the Kehmsarazan Empire.
* FantasticRacism: After witnessing [[spoiler: the destruction wreaked by Orima on the town of Lamry as a result of Naram's capture]], she develops this attitude towards Spirits, resenting their ability to visit the mortal world and wreak havoc without consequence.
* HairTriggerTemper: Suvi's sense of entitlement and immense magical talent have made her ill-equipped for diplomacy or empathy, and she meets most obstacles with threats of violence.
* IKnowYourTrueName: Since knowing one's Name means to hold power over them, a graduate of the Citadel is ritually provided with a Name Cloak, erasing all mentions of its wielder's name from memory and replacing it instead with their Wizard Name. Only individuals who have received the wielder's original name in person, in written form can remember it, and even then, should they speak it out loud, any other individual to hear it, unless they too have received the name, will only hear the new one. As of the second arc, Suvi has received her new name: she is the Wizard [[spoiler: Sky]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Xenophobia and elitism aside, Suvi does care for those she knows personally, especially her friends.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: She may only be an ''apprentice'' mage at the moment, but she's definitely on the way to becoming one of these. She's got the dignified and haughty attitude, the predilection for offensive magic, and definitely the [[IceQueen coldness]] down pat.
* MeaningfulName: Wizard names beginning with "S" are hinted to hold a particularly high status. Appropriately, Suvi's Wizard Name is [[spoiler: Sky.]]
* TheProudElite: Suvi is the daughter of two well-respected wizards, and the youngest person to ever rise to archmage's apprentice in the history of the Citadel, basically a prodigy. Being raised in those conditions, she tends to look down on magic users who don't have her extensive formal education in the subject, with Grandmother Wren and Ame (to an extent) being the only exceptions. Even other wizards of the Citadel aren't safe from her judgement, especially those on the fringes who weren't good enough to get to stay in the Citadel itself.
* SelfMadeWoman: Related to the above, Suvi perceives herself as this and resents any implication that she receives preferential treatment or rose to her current position in the Citadel by anything other than her own merits. She begins to reconsider this stance after [[spoiler: Galani implies Steel treated Suvi preferentially by not giving her a harsher punishment for her actions in disobeying orders and later threatening to kill members of the Azure Battalion when they tried to arrest her, and almost blows up at her for it before realizing that Galani's life would be ruined if she had done the same thing.]]
* StaffOfAuthority: Her Citadel Wizard's staff, which serves as both an [[MagicStaff arcane focus]] and a status symbol demonstrating her rank. She normally keeps it in a glamoured illusion to hide its value, but is all too happy to shatter that illusion in a dramatic display whenever she needs to pull rank on someone.
* StatuesqueStunner: Described by Aabria as being 183cm (6ft) and taller than a lot of the male human characters she meets.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Suvi can be quite supportive and sweet towards those she cares about, showing a strong protective streak towards Ame and Eursolon and acting as as surrogate CoolBigSis to Steel's children... but she's all cold steel against anyone who has wronged her or the Citadel, whether it's with her words or her magic.
* TantrumThrowing: Prone to this if things do not go her way or her authority is not recognised.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: As a child growing up with Ame and Eursulon under Grandma Wren's tutelage, Suvi was a headstrong but kind child. A decade of preferential treatment under a propagandistic fascist regime has altered Suvi's personality for the worse, but instances of the kind child she used to be do sometimes pop out, especially in her protectiveness of the rest of the party.

[[caption-width-right:350:The Witch]]
-->'''Class:''' Witch
-->'''Race:''' Human

A girl who was taken in by Grandmother Wren to become her apprentice at a young age. As a child, Ame took care of chores and explored the woods around Grandmother Wren's home, all in preparation to one day take the old woman's place. Now as an adult, that time has come, but a curse placed on her grandmother means she was never taught everything she was meant to learn. With this truth revealed to her, Ame must get back together with her childhood friends to handle the old witch's unfinished business.
----
* AllLovingHeroine: Caring and considerate to everyone she meets, and always tries to show kindness to even the worst of villains. She even insists on conducting proper funeral rites for Captain Emliss after the latter tries to ''kill her''.
* BarrierMaiden: Describes herself as a "bridge" between the worlds of spirits and men, and suggests this is a common role for witches in the setting. More seriously, it's heavily implied that Grandmother Wren's cottage is keeping ''something'' dark and powerful suppressed beneath the earth, and now that the cottage has been given to Ame, likewise is the responsibility to keep that something under lock and key.
* BerserkButton: Ame is almost always kind and patient to a fault, but as a witch with deep reverence for the spirits, insulting the latter is an easy way to get on her bad side -- Eursolon's casting as a brutish monster in the traveling show is one of the few sights that rouses her to genuine anger, and she's immediately suspicious and distrustful of the Citadel's derrick in Port Talon even before learning it's being used to keep a powerful spirit captive.
* BlessedWithSuck: She's closely attuned to the spirits of the world, and can call on them for oracular guidance in times of need... but they occasionally [[AwfulTruth come bearing news she doesn't want to hear]], and after arriving in Port Talon her visions become much more powerful and violent, leaving her physically ill several times.
* TheChosenOne/LegacyOfTheChosen: Ame is the Witch of the World's Heart, a title she inherits from apprenticing under Grandmother Wren. There are only a handful of witches with titles like these in Umora, as some chose to die without training a replacement. Notably, Ame is the only one of that coven whose role is concerned with the happiness and wellbeing of people.
* CompellingVoice: Her usage of the ''Command'' spell against Finley in episode 5 marks one of the first overt uses of her magic in the campaign. Comes complete with PowerEchoes and VoiceOfTheLegion.
--> '''Ame:''' '''''HALT.'''''
* CountryMouse: Has never traveled beyond the woods and the village of Toma her entire life, to the point that even relatively mundane events like staying at an inn or riding on a ship are completely new experiences for her.
* CuteWitch: Witch and cute as a button, though she's a bit older than most examples.
* TheNapoleon: [[DownplayedTrope She isn't overly sensitive about it]], but Ame was a tiny kid who has barely grown as a young adult, and can be a little touchy regarding her height. It doesn't help her ego that both Suvi and Eursolon have shot up like weeds in the intervening years.
* NiceGirl: Easily the nicest and most polite member of the party. She places great importance in showing kindness to everyone she meets, no matter who they are.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: After attuning to a [[RingOfPower Steward's Ring]] in episode 8, her Strength score skyrockets to ''19'' (higher than [[TheBigGuy Eursolon]] at the time), with Brennan's narration noting in detail how the adorably tiny Ame is now ''ripped''.
* WillfullyWeak: While Ame is a witch with genuine magical powers, not unlike the witches of ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'', she tends to use her abilities in a subtle and non-flashy manner whenever possible, only breaking out the ''real'' magic in times of extreme danger. This is one of many traits that directly contrasts her with Suvi, who [[MundaneUtility constantly uses magic to accomplish even simple tasks]].
* WitchClassic: One fresh out of training, at least. She's got the cabin in the woods, the familiar, and even the pointed hat -- though lacking a flying broomstick at the moment, and she's not much of a [[EvilLaugh cackler]].

One of many children of the Great Bear Spirit, Eursulon grew up in a magical forest not of this plane, but one day fell into the mortal realm while roughhousing with his siblings. There he met a kindly knight named Curran, whose shining armor and chivalrous nature inspired Eursulon to become a knight himself. Getting trapped in the mortal realm, Eursulon met Suvi and Ame as children and came to spend some time with them at Grandmother Wren's home before eventually heading off on his own to quest for honor. As an adult, Eursulon roams the land in a human guise, but there are those who have caught on to his true nature, and have wicked intentions for him that keep him on the run.
----

* TheAlcoholic: A strong indication of Eursulon's waning connection with the spirit world is his reliance on human vices, in particular, alcohol. While he doesn't seem to be addicted physically, he clearly leans on alcohol as a coping mechanism and as a way of medicating his depression.
* BeastMan: Visually, at least; he's a tall humanoid who [[MixAndMatchCritters combines elements of many animals]], particularly bears and cats, though he's actually a [[TheFairFolk spirit]] rather than some kind of monstrous human. His siblings and fellow children of the Great Bear seen in the prologue have a much wider range of physical appearances.
* BigEater: Naturally, being the son of the Great Bear Spirit. Eursulon loves sampling the many delicacies of the Citadel, and has in a month become a regular customer of many vendors. Notably, he can eat a challenge stew meant for six people all by himself and still have room for snacks.
* TheExile: Eursulon took to the ways of the human world as a child and now cannot return to the spirit plane.
* GentleGiant: He's the tallest member of the party even under his {{Glamour}}, and his true form is nearly eight feet tall. While capable of both intimidation and violence when necessary, he's a generally polite and awkward sort who prefers to avoid hurting others when possible.
* {{Glamour}}: Capable of creating one that masks his true appearance as a spirit, causing him to instead appear as a tall human who [[StrongFamilyResemblance bears a strong resemblance]] to Suvi.
* HealingHands: Possesses the ''Lay on Hands'' class feature, allowing him to heal wounds with a touch.
* IHaveManyNames: Tends to hide his real name for spirit reasons, going by "Toma" (the village that Grandmother Wren was the witch of) or simply "Bear" when introducing himself to strangers.
* {{Invisibility}}: His innate magic allows him to become briefly invisible, which helps with the multiple times he's been forced to leave town in a hurry.
* MagicKnight: As a Paladin, he's capable with a sword and also possesses a smattering of magical abilities, notably HealingHands and AuraVision -- though in a twist on the norm for the class, his powers are presented as being part of his status as a [[TheFairFolk spirit]] rather than from any kind of religious devotion.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: Capable of understanding the speech of animals and vice versa; it's one of his innate abilities as a spirit.
* StoicWoobie: Life has been hard on Eursulon ever since he left Grandmother Wren's cottage, constantly doing odd jobs and having to run from people who are after an Honored Friend instead of living out his dreams of becoming a knight that led to him staying on the mortal plain in the first place. While he does let Suvi and Ame know some of this, he is reluctant to be forthcoming with the full details.
* SwordAndSorcerer: The Sword to both Suvi and Ame's Sorcerer. He deals with physical challenges while they handle the spellcasting.

* WitchClassic: Wren is a solidly standard witch - lives in a cottage in the woods; flies on a broomstick; has an animal familiar. She's only missing the pointy black hat.
* SolitarySorceress: Aside from Ame, Wren lives by herself in her cottage outside of town. Before Ame came to live with her she would have been even more solitary.

!!!Played by Brennan Lee Mulligan

* BigEater: For his size, at least. When it comes to his love of food, he has deluded himself into believing that he is as big and can eat as much as Eursulon, which is simply not true. He can still eat enough for his stomach to fully become a ball, though.
* BlankSlate: Is given sapience by Ame and knows nothing about the world that an ordinary fox wouldn't. Every word, idea, and experience is new to the Fox, and his mind is constantly being blown as his worldview is shaped by accompanying the main trio on their adventure.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Even though he can fully talk, he still thinks like an animal, his main concern outside his role as Ame's familiar being when his next meal is and respecting Eursulon as a larger, stronger predator.
* {{Familiar}}: The fox becomes Ame's familiar when she asks Mr Soup for help finding one.
* TheHedonist: Comes with being a freshly-sentient animal. The Fox does what he wants when he wants in pursuit of very simple goals. He even inspires this behavior in Ame a little, going off on his own to inspire her to chase him, along with her own desires in the process.
* UpliftedAnimal: Once he becomes Ame's familiar, he is granted the powers of speech and human-level cognition. He is very surprised by his ability to understand the meaning of words people say to him and to know what words to say to convey the things he's thinking to other people.

* ActionMom: A mother to multiple children as well as Suvi's ParentalSubstitute, and an extremely powerful wizard.
* FirstNameUltimatum: One of the only people in the series so far to use Suvi's full first name of "Suviren", and not for good reasons.
* MagicKnight: She's primarily characterized as a wizard but is also a capable warrior, mentoring Eursolon in proper dueling techniques and frequently being described by Brennan's narration as wielding a sword and spellbook in tandem. There's a reason her RedBaron is "the Sword of the Citadel".
* TheMentor: In addition to raising Suvi and guiding her through the hierarchy of the Citadel, once she learns the truth about Eursulon she begins training him the way of the sword.
* ParentalSubstitute: A close friend of Soft and Stone's who takes Suvi under her care after their death. Even before Soft and Stone's death, Suvi describes her to Ame as being like a third parent to her.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Her interactions with Suvi lean more towards Authoritative vs Authoritarian, and while she's angry about being disobeyed this stems from worry about Suvi's lack of communication and risky behavior. She also understands that the Citadel is not a perfect bastion of morality and does not fault Suvi for hiding information about Eursulon.
* RedBaron: ''The Sword of the Citadel''.

This has caused her some difficulty in the past, but also makes it that she's the only one who can work safely with some of the stranger items that wander into Finley's shop.

* NatureSpirit: He is the spirit of the stream at Grandmother Wren's cottage.
* GeniusLoci: He seems to have some power over all of the local area, as the trees move and the birds grow louder while he gives The Fox sentience to act as Ame's familiar.

An ominous and unseen being of incredible power which requested entry to Grandmother Wren's cottage moments after her passing to 'pay respects', only to be refused by Ame, and told to return in a year.

* CastingAShadow: Upon its arrival, night fell around the cottage, only to return to day upon its departure.
* TheFairFolk: Ostensibly a Spirit of immense power. The setting of Umora does not, however, distinguish in common ways between [[OurAngelsAreDifferent Celestials]], [[OurDemonsAreDifferent Fiends]], and fae, grouping them all under the term Spirit.
* HumanoidAbomination: The sound of boots is heard as it approaches the door, and it has a voice. It is the furthest thing from human.
* IHaveManyNames: Spirits will not willingly reveal their Name, instead concealing it under a title. Very powerful spirits will sometimes have two, a sign of their power, and their ability to conceal their nature. Suvi remembers this, and notes that this Spirit, like the most powerful she ever studied, has [[OhCrap three titles]]: The Pilgrim Under The Stars, the Man In Black, the [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast King of Night]].
* RealityWarper: Its presence changes the fabric of reality around it.
* TimeAbyss: It has held its breath since the dawning of the world.
* TimeMaster: Its approach makes time slow down to a crawl, and night follows it.
* WalkingWasteland: Upon its departure, all the milk in the cottage's coolbox has soured, and all the fruit hanging over the road has withered.
