A 13-year-old Afro-Latina girl who became friends with Anne and her friends after she got expelled from her last school and started attending St. James. She represents the purple gem of courage on the Calamity Box.

----
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade:
** In canon Luz was clearly comfortable in her sexual orientation, being more flustered at the prospect of people flirting with ''her'' than whether they were male or female. Here, she does not realize this about herself until halfway through the first arc, and having her first crush on a girl leaves her with [[{{Gayngst}} anxiety over the whole thing]].
** Rather than choosing to remain in the other world like in canon, Luz is dragged along to [[DeathWorld Amphibia]] when the girls open the Calamity Box, and spends the first few days desperately trying to survive. To make things worse, this occurred shortly after having a falling out with Anne.
* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: In the show, Luz lives in Connecticut and is regarded as a weirdo due to her tactics. Here, Luz lives in California and had been expelled from her last school due to her tactics, leading her to be transferred to St. James and kickstarting the whole story.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: The canon Luz is a AllLovingHeroine who treats nearly anyone without any malice except for the irredeemable [[BigBad Emperor Belos]]. This version is a ByronicHero who has a deep hatred towards anyone who wronged her, especially her former friend Sasha.
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: [[spoiler:In canon, she ended up in ShipTease with Amity before the pair eventually got together and remained that way for the rest of the series. Here, Luz gets paired up with Anne while Amity gets ShipTease with Marcy before they even meet.]]
* AgeLift: No, "regression". Luz is aged down by a year.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: As Uodeela begins training her in using her Calamity powers, Luz starts her lesson off managing to focus but gets a random thought and admits she has trouble emptying her mind. When she hears Uodeela tell her to imagine bending air, Luz begins to describe the ''[[Franchise/AvatarTheLastAirbender Avatar]]'' franchise forcing Uodeela to yell at her so she'll concentrate.
* BeYourself: Luz is a strong believer in this, and it's the reason why she refuses to fall in line with Sasha's demands.
* ByronicHero: This version of Luz is more angrier and edgier due to being manipulated by Sasha into kissing Anne and ruin their friendship, being sent to Amphibia against her will, and [[spoiler:Uodeela being stuck as a Red Heron]].
* CheatersNeverProsper: PlayedForDrama. Luz attempts to use her Calamity powers in an attempt to beat the flipwart challenge, but the second her eyes change color, she gets electrocuted and sees the opponent's flipwart king wagging its finger, realizing it won't allow her.
* ComingOutStory: Luz did research and found several of these online in order to figure out her recent feelings for Anne. She eventually realizes she's bisexual since she's always been attracted to guys up until now.
* CommonalityConnection:
** Luz and Anne bond over anime and ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra''.
** Marcy immediately bonds with Luz upon discovering they're both fans of the ''Good Witch Azura''. She even collaborating on a fanfic together with Luz, with whom also have a strong love of magic and later discover they also enjoyed Cynthia Coven. Luz also knows the feeling of being alone all too well, and that's why she ends up sympathizing with Marcy after she admits she HatesBeingAlone and didn't want to lose her friends because she was moving.
* CrazyPrepared: To counter the heat of the fourth temple, Luz brought a potion that keeps the drinker cool in hot environments. She gives it to the Plantars so they can stay hydrated.
* CrushBlush: Upon developing a crush on Anne, Luz's cheeks flush just from being around her.
* ADayInTheLimelight: In a rare instance for a protagonist, Luz is the star of the one-shot "Luz Around Town" for the first time in the series.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: In trying to stick it to Sasha and be herself by wearing the otter costume, Luz hadn't taken into account how difficult it would be for her to dance in it.
* DoubleWeapon: From Chapter 27 to Chapter 40, she wields Uodeela's staff, the end of which has been sharpened so it can double as a spear.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Marcy. Both are teenagers that have a particular interest in fantasy and close friends of Anne who HatesBeingAlone. Marcy serves as Anne's ChildhoodFriend while Luz had only known Anne for a few months. Luz is more sensitive to others' feelings and situations while Marcy tends to ignore them due to being InnocentlyInsensitive. Their family lives also contrast with Luz living with her caring single mother, while Marcy is shown to have controlling and strict parents, and Luz wasn't willing to separate from her mother while Marcy has spent months running away from her parents with no intention of returning.
** To Belos. Both have strong influence on Sasha. They both appear to be caring for her, but the difference is Luz had genuinely tried to bring out the best of Sasha while Belos is just trying to use her personal feelings for his own gain. In the end, Belos has done more harm to Sasha’s relationships than Luz.
* HeelRealization: {{Implied}}. Luz realizing Sasha's neglectful home life and her mother's missing her inspires her to make up with Sahsa for real.
* HomeschooledKids: Becomes one in Arc 5. While Anne and Luz are able to go back to school, they choose to continue their education with online studies since they don't want to [[spoiler:fan any rumor flames about their relationship]].
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:As much as Luz hopes Anne'll want to date her when they return to Earth, she knows it's Anne's choice and if she chooses to date Sasha, then Luz will have to accept it.]]
* LargeHam: After being challenged by Mr. Boonchuy in a games of Smash, Luz dramatically said she would do it for thr honor of [[spoiler:dating Anne]].
* LikeBrotherAndSister: GenderInverted. Unbeknownst to Luz, Marcy treats Luz as the sister Marcy never had as she's the only one sharing her interests. This is why Marcy had been devastated she's moving, because she might never see Luz again.
** In ‘Premonitions’, it is confirmed that the feeling is now mutual.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:As of "Coming Home", she has entered a relationship with Anne]].
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Everyone's come to know Luz as always being sweet and eternally accepting, so to see her consumed by fury and declaring her hatred towards Sasha and Grime is very surprising and concerning.
* OutOfFocus: Even though she's the main character, not even Luz has appeared in every chapter. She's absent in "What's Anne Been Up To?", "Sasha's Story", "Newtopian News", "Barrel's Warhammer", and "Toadcatcher" all of which focus on Anne, Sasha, Amara, and Sasha & Gustav respectively. She's naturally absent in the second half of Arc 5 save as a projection in "Turning Point" and the SeasonFinale because the story shows what's been happening in Amphibia since she and her friends were sent to Earth. Until "The Lyft Ride", she hadn't appeared in any of the one-shots, which are either {{Distant Prologue}}s, occur on earth, or take place at a time where she's not present at the moment.
* PurpleIsPowerful: She represents the purple gem of Courage from the Calamity Box, [[spoiler:and she becomes a force to be reckoned with when her powers allow her to start utilizing potions that give her elemental abilities.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: In "Dinner and a Show", Luz opts to skip the dinner party since she doesn't want to be anywhere near Sasha and goes to try and get her powers working. Sprig attempts to join her, but it's subverted since Hop Pop forces him to stay.
* SecretKeeper:
** Upon realizing Lilly sees no reason to tell her father about her temporarily death, Luz agrees to keep it to herself.
** Luz refrains from telling everyone about her calamity powers, not wanting Anne and Marcy to be disappointed if they don't acquire their own.
* SignificantWardrobeShift: When she starts attending St. James Middle, Luz has to wear the school's uniform which resembles Anne's but with dark blue tights. She ends up in Amphibia wearing it and it gets stained by mud. Before Luz sets off for Wartwood to meet up with Anne, Lilly, Gustav and Amara give her a new outfit for her journey, complete with new boots, gloves, cloak, and accessories.
* TookALevelInBadass: Luz manages to [[spoiler:tap into her Calamity gem powers]] earlier than Anne did in canon, allowing her to utilize her potions more effectively in a fight.
* TranquilFury: After hearing Sasha's "apology", Luz starts to speak in a cold tone that builds to a calm one dripping with rage before blowing up at Sasha.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Anne Boonchuy]]
!!Anne Savisa Boonchuy
A 13-year-old Thai-American girl who befriends Luz and makes her part of her friend group. True to canon, she finds a music box that sends her and her friends to Amphibia and tries to find a way to get back home. She represents the blue gem of heart on the Calamity Box.

----
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade:
** In addition to being trapped in another world, [[{{Gayngst}} Anne struggles with her sexuality after her kiss with Luz]].
** She has a more complicated friendship with her childhood friend Sasha here, who is jealous of her and Luz's relationship and also [[LoveTriangle loves her secretly]]. [[spoiler:Things get heated up when Anne says that she wants Sasha dead after what she had done to Luz, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone causing Anne to blame herself for this real hard after returning to Earth.]]]]
* AdaptationalJerkass: {{Downplayed}}. Anne in this story has some rather more unpleasant moments such as ending her friendship with Luz and wanting her childhood friends dead after learning their misdeeds. That said, it usually happens under others' influence or stress.
* AdaptationalSexuality: While her orientation is left vague in the canon show, in this AU, Anne is shown to be either a lesbian or bisexual. This is shown as she admits to enjoying Luz's kiss, despite initially being shocked when it happened. She's later implied to return the latter's feelings upon reuniting.
* AngerBornOfWorry: Anne has a few moments that stem from her concern for Luz:
** She's so furious with Sasha over her actions, she suggests leaving her in Amphibia to face execution for them since she allowed the fight between Luz and Beatrix to happen.
** Later when she learns that Luz intentionally fought Beatrix to keep her from joining the invasion, she lays into Luz for putting herself in danger.
* BridalCarry:
** In "Frobo and the Toads", Anne carries an unconscious Luz back home this way, and Luz smiles when she does.
** Anne does this again as she carries Luz out of the arena in arms as she fades into unconsciousness in "True Colors (Part One)".
* ClosetKey: She serves as Luz's, since Anne's her first female crush.
* CommonalityConnection: Luz and Anne bond over anime and ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra''.
* CrushBlush: She has a few of these once she develops feelings for [[spoiler:Luz]].
* CutenessProximity: Seeing Luz imitate an otter gets Anne cooing over how cute she looks.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Anne gets hers in the chapter "Adventures with Anne".
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Anne serves as this for the series at first, but is replaced by Uodeela in Arc 2. She regains the role in Arc 4.
* {{Foil}}: To Emperor Belos, as they both feel betrayed by the ones they loved. The main difference is that Anne tries to make amends with them while Belos doubles down on his hatred to the point of [[DisproportionateRetribution hurting those that weren't involved in it at all]].
* HeelRealization: Anne breaks down in tears when she remembers her declaration of hatred and death to Sasha, as she realizes she can't face Ms. Waybright if her daughter is dead in Amphibia.
* HomeschooledKids: Becomes one in Arc 5 as While Anne and Luz are able to go back to school, they choose to continue their education with online studies since they don't want to [[spoiler:fan any rumor flames about their relationship.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: She has this kind of moment on several occasions in the story.
** In "What's Anne Been Up To?", after thinking about Luz for the last few weeks, Anne begins to feel guilty about ending their friendship, especially after she worries that it [[PartingWordsRegret could've been the last thing she said to her]].
** In "Mist Reunion", Anne fully regrets ending her friendship with Luz, more so after being shown Luz crying when she did it.
** In "Coming Home", Anne is left in shock after saying Marcy deserves her fate for tricking the girls into being trapped in Amphibia.
** In "A Lie That is True", Anne cries in regret for asking for Sasha's execution in "True Colors" and her declaration of hatred to her childhood friend.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:She and Luz have a RelationshipUpgrade in "Coming Home".]]
* PartingWordsRegret: The last thing she said to Luz before getting zapped to Amphibia was that she's ending their friendship. By the end of Arc 2, she regrets it, and intends to reconcile with Luz.
* SignificantWardrobeShift: Per the recommendation of Luz, Marcy and the Plantars, Anne dons Polianna Plantar's armor consisting of a chestplate with the family's insignia, gauntlets and boots, complete with Tritonio's sword.
* ThatCameOutWrong: Anne, out of growing frustration over Luz saying Marcy could be dead, shouts that Marcy deserved her fate after what she did to them. This causes Luz to run away from everyone while Anne collapses to her knees in regret.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sasha Waybright]]
!!Sasha Waybright
One of Anne's closet friends, she developed a one-sided distain towards Luz out of paranoia that she'd convince Anne and Marcy to abandon her. Shortly after arriving in Amphibia, Sasha was captured and imprisoned by Grime only to earn his favor and become appointed as his second-in-command, working alongside him to find her lost friends and bring them back home, even if it means harming the friends they make. She represents the pink gem of strength on the Calamity Box.

----

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: In canon, it's implied that Sasha's parents divorced when she was quite young. Here, they didn't get divorced and had martial problems until after Sasha disappeared. Moreover, her father is neglectful to her and only cares about work and the goods he provided.
* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: In ''Literature/MarcysJournalAGuidetoAmphibia'', Sasha's parents are revealed to be divorced or separated when she was young. Here, her parents are together until she got transported to Amphibia. Her family life also appeared to be dysfunctional, as her father is always on business and absent in her life while her mother teaches her to use manipulative skills and female charms to "control" boys.
* AdaptationExpansion: It's never implied how Sasha's manipulative skills come from in the show. Here, it's revealed that she learned them from her mother, who uses FemmeFatale charm to take advantage of men.
* AdaptationalVillainy: The author confirmed in a response to a comment for Arc 4's trailer that Sasha's a bit more malicious than in canon due to being influenced by TheVoice.
* AllForNothing: All her plans to keep [[spoiler:Luz away from her crush, Anne]] are ruined when the latter has enough of her controlling behavior.
* AmbiguousSituation: The one-shot "Sasha's Advice" has a scene in which Sasha suggests to practice kissing with [[spoiler:Anne]], leaving the latter confused. Furthermore, Luz implies that Sasha might have a crush on [[spoiler: Anne]] too, not just her. [[spoiler:No longer ambiguous as of "The Fourth Temple", as Sasha is confirmed to have a crush on Anne.]]
* AttentionWhore: {{Downplayed}}. Sasha desperately craves attention, but she mostly wants it from Anne and [[ParentalNeglect her father]]. She even goes as far as to sabotage Anne's relationship with Luz.
* BoundAndGagged: Per Andrias' orders and Anne's request respectively, Yunan brings Sasha to the throne room in chains and her mouth gagged so she doesn't cause anymore trouble. Unfortunately, this stops her from warning everyone about Andrias lying to them.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: [[spoiler:Her reason of distain to Luz is because she has developed a crush on Anne, her childhood friend.]]
* CrossingTheBurntBridge: In addition of learning her mistakes in "Turning Point", [[spoiler:Sasha also faces the Frog Rebellion (including Percy and Braddock) who she fought before]].
* ClingyJealousGirl: {{Downplayed}}. She acts colder to Luz as she and Anne become closer. She also states that she must date Anne [[spoiler:when Belos proposes letting his nephew date her when things go south]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Sasha is the first of the original Amphibia Calamity trio to get one in "Fun with Sasha", and gets to shine for the day in "Sasha's Story". She also gets to share the spotlight with Gustav in the one-shot "Toadcatcher" and the chapter "Barrel's Warhammer".
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:Just as the Red Heron was given the cure, Belos takes possession of Sasha, intending to slaughter Grime and the rest of her comrades just because Maddie and Gustav are magic users. The possession only ends when Sasha kills herself.]]
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:To get rid of Belos, Sasha stabs herself. Thankfully, Gustav had an Elixir of Life and was able to bring her back to life.]]
* DoNotTauntCthulhu: [[spoiler:After Sasha rejects Belos and shows her fearlessness to him, [[DemonicPossession he ends up possessing her]] and leaves her a hideous scar on the right side of her face.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Sasha is uncomfortable with the plan involving Beatrix battling Luz to the death just to keep her from getting in the Toad Army's way during the rebellion in Newtopia.
* EvilIsPetty: Sasha becomes friends with Gustav hoping to show off their friendship to Anne and make her regret choosing Sprig over her. It makes Gustav feel less guilty over lying to her.
* {{Expy}}: Surprisingly, this version of Sasha ends up as one to [[Characters/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPowerCatra Catra]]. Both are {{Tragic Villain}}s with InferioritySuperiorityComplex and {{Insecure Love Interest}}s to their [[ChildhoodFriendRomance childhood friends]]. Both have [[LookingForLoveInAllTheWrongPlaces serious parent issues from bad parental figures]] and [[IJustWantToBeLoved strong desires of being loved]]. They end up [[GreenEyedMonster being jealous of their crushes' new friends]] and [[RelationshipSabotage go to extreme measures to break them up]] to [[HatesBeingAlone prevent their crushes from leaving them]]. [[YoungConqueror They also join another lord in their conquering]] [[HumbleGoal to gain approval and attention they lack in the past]]. Both are [[LoveMakesYouEvil willing to do anything]] to [[LoveHungry keep their best friends]] who act as their LivingEmotionalCrutch, but ultimately has enough of their awful behaviors. After [[HeelRealization realizing how their actions hurt their loved ones]], they pull a HeelFaceTurn and [[CrossingTheBurntBridge face the people they hurt before]]. Their start of redemption also [[DoNotTauntCthulhu piss off]] the male BigBad, [[DemonicPossession being possessed by them,]] and end up receiving something from them (Catra a TraumaticHaircut, Sasha [[spoiler:a [[AScarToRemember scar from being possessed]]]]).
* FilleFatale: She uses her feminine charms to manipulate boys, something she learned from her mom.
* FreudianExcuse: While it's only {{implied}} in the show, Sasha here has shown to be living in a quite neglectful and unhealthy environment. Her father is always working and her mother teaches her how to manipulate boys at a young age. The home life is so bad that she cares more about her friends and Grime, and is willing to sabotage Luz and Anne's relationship when they become closer in fear of losing Anne to Luz.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Sasha tells Luz that she needs to help Grime finish the invasion, who acts more like a father than her real, neglectful one. While Luz is sympathetic with Sasha about her home problems, she tells her that doesn't give her the right to hurt others.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Luz. Both are Anne's close friends who [[spoiler:have crushes on her]]. Luz tries to make up for her mistakes to Anne while Sasha doubles down on her toxic behavior. It's no wonder Anne chooses Luz in the end.
** To Amara. Both are {{Lonely Rich Kid}}s that live in a rich but neglectful environment and are friends with Anne at some point. Amara lives with her classist parents while Sasha has a DisappearedDad. While Amara is able to see the errors of her ways stemmed from her family life, Sasha cannot and is also able to overcome her mental problems with the help of her new friends, while Sasha couldn't due to the worsening influence of [[spoiler:[[TheVoice Belos]]]].
* GoAndSinNoMore: To prove that she has changed, she has to offer help to Emmanuel, the leader of the Rebellion.
* GreenEyedMonster: After losing the scare dare challenge and hearing a strange voice, Sasha starts to become paranoid that Luz will steal Anne and Marcy's friendship from her. It gets to the point that upon learning of Luz crushing on Anne, Sasha sets her up to make a fool of herself, then convinces a distraught Anne to end her friendship with Luz. [[spoiler:It gains even more ground with the implications that Sasha has a crush on Anne, too.]]
* HatesBeingAlone: [[spoiler:At one point, she breaks down when Belos creates a vision of Anne rejecting her to be with Luz.]]
* HearingVoices: Sasha hears one which freaks her out enough to lose a Scare Dare Challenge. She soon begins to hear it more often, brushing it off as either someone else speaking or strange thoughts.
* HumbleGoal: [[spoiler:Despite doing bad things to Luz and her friends, all she wants is to date her crush Anne, who she's loved for quite some time.]]
* IJustWantToBeLoved: [[spoiler:Sasha desperately tries to gain attention from others as her father is always absent from her life.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler:To end Belos' control over her, Sasha shoves her sword through her chest; it works, and she's soon brought back to life.]]
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: [[spoiler: It's shown that despite acting hostile to others (mainly Luz), all she wants to gain approval and attention from her loved ones.]]
* InsecureLoveInterest: In "True Colors", [[spoiler:she admits that all she wants is for Anne to be together with her for her true self, not all the things she did.]]
* IveComeTooFar: The main reason for Sasha's RedemptionRejection below, feeling she's already burned her bridges, so she might as well keep on her current path.
* JustAKid: {{Deconstructed}} in "The New Resistance". When Emmanuel learns Sasha's only around 14, he offers her encouragement to learn from her mistakes. However by that time, she ended up in bad terms with her friends, got a nasty scar from [[spoiler:Belos's possession]], and faced people who want her dead or worse for all the bad things she's done in the past that she deeply regrets. Needless to say, the poor young girl shouldn't be going through that much at her age as she now ends up nearly broken.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: [[spoiler:Overlaps with ClingyJealousGirl. Although she doesn't say it out loud, she highly depends on Anne's company partly because of ParentalNeglect, even going as far as to sabotage her relationship with Luz when they become closer.]]
* LonelyRichKid: Sasha's father is always away on business trips and is rarely at home, making her feel lonely even though she has his money for sleepovers and other activities. It's also implied that she doesn't have any real friends aside from Anne and Marcy at school.
* LookingForLoveInAllTheWrongPlaces: [[spoiler:Sasha tries desperately to gain love from her father and Anne. The former doesn't work as [[WantsAPrizeForBasicDecency he only cares for her appreciation for the things he provided]]. The latter fails as her repeated attempts to push Luz away ends up endangering Anne and damaging their relationship.]]
* LoveHungry: Sasha tries different ways [[spoiler:to make Anne stay with her, even ruining her friendship with Luz to accomplish that.]]
* LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler:A part of her motivation is to prevent Luz from dating Anne, her childhood friend who she develops a crush on.]]
* MoralMyopia: Sasha cannot understand why Anne [[spoiler:and later Luz]] would choose to protect the frogs [[spoiler:and salamander respectively]] who took them in despite admitting that she sees Grime [[ParentalSubstitute as a better father figure than her own dad.]]
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: [[spoiler:Luz repeatedly brings up Tadpole Pond, having the image of Grime cutting off Uodeela's tail as Sasha did nothing but watch with a [[PsychoticSmirk sadistic grin]] burned into her memory.]]
* PsychoticSmirk: [[spoiler:Sasha has one when Grime cut off Uodeela's tail]]
* RedemptionRejection: Luz's attempts to get Sasha [[spoiler:to call off the attack on Tadpole Pond]] fail, with Sasha leading the charge despite her hesitation.
* RelationshipSabotage: Sasha sabotages Luz's friendship with Anne [[spoiler:as she also has a crush on Anne.]]
* AScarToRemember: [[spoiler:While the scar Sasha got from Anne on her left cheek heals, she gains one in the shape of a triangle over her original one as well as her right eye, neither of which the Elixir of Life could heal. The latter serves as a permanent reminder of Belos' possession.]]
* SecretlySelfish: Played with and played straight. Sasha convinces Anne that Luz was only friends with them just to come on to her in order to convince Anne to cut ties with Luz. At the same time, Sasha gave off a few hints that she wanted Anne to date her.
* SevenDeadlySins: This version of Sasha has displayed all seven traits in some ways:
** Sloth: She doesn't try earning Anne's affection by changing herself, or going home by making amends with Luz and Anne.
** [[GreenEyedMonster Envy]]: She resents Luz for being closer to Anne than her, to the point of sabotaging their friendship.
** {{Greed}}: Even being a RichBitch in the human world can't stop her from trying to gain power in Amphibia and Anne's affection using questionable means.
** Pride: Partly because of her upbringings, Sasha often thinks about herself and what she wants, even when she thinks she's doing it to help others.
** Wrath: She resorts to violence or tantrums when she's losing control of the situation she idealized.
** Gluttony: She hungers for love and attention from others, even going to extremes to gain them.
** {{Lust}}: Even when her crush towards Anne is genuine, it has reached to an unhealthy level of obsession when she's trying to sabotage Luz and Anne's relationship.
* SoreLoser: Emmanuel points out the clear fact that Sasha really hates losing after the battle of Tadpole Pond.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: Sasha proposes that Anne test the speed of her bike riding down a path that's often full of people in Chapter 1.
* TroubledTeen: Her neglectful family background and her mother's teachings of manipulations leading her to be a controlling person that tries to prevent Luz from getting with Anne, who she has a crush on. Bonus points adding to TheVoice from her head, which is actually from [[spoiler:Emperor Belos]].
* TragicVillain: Sasha's neglectful family life (mainly from her father) ends up causing her to be lonely and desperate for others' love, even when it means going to extremes because of that.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marcy Wu]]
!!Marcy Wu
Anne's oldest friend, she got transported to Amphibia along with her friends and ended up in the city of Newtopia where she became the pupil of its ruler, King Andrias. She represents the green gem of wit on the Calamity Box.
----
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: In canon, it's implied that Marcy has a tough relationship with her parents. Here, it is further explained that her parents are quite strict with her studies and controlling of her, which partly strained their relationship.
* AdaptationalSexuality: In canon, Marcy has some AmbiguouslyGay moments with Anne and Sasha and [[Literature/MarcysJournalAGuidetoAmphibia her real-life journal]] depicts a lot of illustrations supporting it. Here, Marcy is confirmed to be a lesbian.
* BlowYouAway: Upon discovering the wind glyph, Marcy begins utilizing it and learns how to hover using tornadoes.
* ClosetGeek: While Sasha complains about Marcy's tabletop game, Marcy retorts that Sasha is actually fairly good at it, having formed her own barbarian tribe.
* CommonalityConnection:
** Like with Luz, Marcy starts to bond with [[spoiler:Amity]] once they discover they're both ''Good Witch Azura'' fans.
* CutenessProximity: After Marcy sees and gushes over the cat ears on Luz's hoodie, she gets one in green for herself.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Marcy takes the spotlight in the chapter "Writing with Marcy".
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:Marcy still gets possessed by the Core for her intellect, but not so it can have a host body.]]
* DidIJustSayThatOutLoud: [[spoiler:Marcy's reaction upon realizing she called Amity cute out loud: she quickly says she's still delirious.]]
* HeroicBSOD: Marcy had already been stuck in one after betraying her friends and while comatose. 232* FemmeFatale: Melissa has expertise on using her feminine charms to manipulate men and taught her daughter the same tactics, thereby making Sasha a FilleFatale.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Melissa teaches Sasha how to use her feminine skills to take advantage of boys. She uses them and it works, on both boys, her female friends, and others. This although allowing her to gain advantages, it also ruins her personal friendships as others begin to leave her for being manipulative to them.
* LikeMotherLikeDaughter: Melissa taught Sasha to use charm to manipulate boys to her advantage, which she does on a regular basis.
* ManipulativeBitch: Melissa uses manipulation to get males to help her do the work. She's also the one Sasha learns manipulation from.

[[folder:Chris Waybright]]
!!Chris Waybright
Sasha's father and a businessman.
----
* AdaptationalJerkass: It's heavily implied in canon that he actually cared for Sasha, appearing with his former wife to see her when the trio returned from Amphibia. Here, he's neglectful towards Sasha and decides to forget about her after getting divorced. To the point where Anne begins to despise him.
* DramaticallyMissingThePoint: Throughout several points in the story, Chris thinks that Sasha should be grateful for what he provided, and calls her out as being ungrateful when she runs away with others, unaware of other possible factors. In reality, what Sasha wants the most is to spending time with him, and that by finding another family only for appreciation he received, he earns Anne's disgust as he chooses to ignore his missing daughter in favor of being appreciated.

* EntitledBastard: Chris barely spends time with his daughter Sasha, yet he thinks he should receive her gratitude and calls her ungrateful when she has gone missing without thinking other possibilities.
* HappinessIsMandatory: Chris takes lessons from inspirational videos and adopt the mindset that he should let go his past and focus on the present and being happiness, leaving Sasha behind in the process. It's ultimately his toxic positiveity that leads Anne to despise him hard.
* HateSink: Chris believes Sasha ran away because she didn't want to be at home with her parents and [[DramaticallyMissingthePoint didn't understand that Sasha only wants to spend time with him]]. Instead of trying to find Sasha and making an effort to become better, [[WantsaPrizeforBasicDecency he raucously claimed Sasha being ungrateful]] and [[ParentalNeglect not caring her whereabouts]]. After divorcing Melissa, he took advice from inspirational videos that led to him dating a woman younger than him with kids who he'd become a father figure for. He also [[WantsaPrizeforBasicDecency takes them mainly for being more appreciative for things he provided than his original family]] and [[ParentalNeglect forgets about Sasha]]. This makes him an in-universe one as well, as Anne begins to grow a large amount of contempt towards him for not even being concerned over his missing daughter.
* ItsAllAboutMe: While Chris says he had a bad time with his previous family, it's become clear that all he wants from them are gratitude and respect. He chooses his own happiness first and ditches them for a new one. Even worse, he never once consider he's part of his problems and instead calls out others for their legitimate concerns.
* KarmaHoudini: He still receives no competence despite his terrible treatment to his former family.

They end up being bad influences on Sasha.
* {{Narcissist}}: Chris thinks that for all the things he provides for his family, he deserves their gratitude. After Sasha's missing and his divorce with Melissa, he chooses to find a new family and forget his old one, thinking they are ungrateful to him. He is ignorant to others' problems and only thinks about himself, yet he expects gratitude and respect from others for the good things he's done.

* AdaptationalAngstDowngrade: In canon, Eda is forced the curse that turns her into the Owl Beast at a young age, making her an outcast. Here, she turns into a red heron willingly by drinking potions.
* AdaptationalHeroism: While Eda openly rebelled against the Coven system in canon, it didn't go far beyond [[CoolPeopleRebelAgainstAuthority petty crime and refusing to join a Coven]], mainly looking out for herself. Uodeela is much more proactive, being part of a rebellion against the toads tyranny, and regularly intercepts their 'tax collections' to distribute the money back to the people.
* AdaptedOut:
** WordOfGod confirms that Eda's sister Lilith has no direct counterpart in Amphibia, making Uodeela an only child in this universe.

----
* AscendedExtra: She was added to the fic's version of "True Colors".
* DirtyCoward: As Gustav puts it, for all of Beatrix's talk about wanting to face a strong opponent she escaped when she got it due to the risk of being arrested.

----
* AdaptationalVillainy: Arc 5 shows King Andrias stepping up his own villainous game, [[spoiler:sending a Cloak-Bot to the Boiling Isles to kidnap witchlings around the girls' age to examine like the other creatures his ancestors stole from other worlds.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: King Andrias has his canon moments of trying to crush Polly, drop Sprig out of the palace and stabbing Marcy; on top of those, he drops [[spoiler:Luz]] with Sprig and has no qualms hurting Lilly while she fights him so the others can escape through the portal to Earth.

[[folder:Lady Odalys Light]]
!!Lady Odalys Light
Amara's mother.

----
* AlternateSelf: She's a newt version of Odalia Blight.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:Odalys has both her arms cut off when Alyssa uses a barrier spell that summons two which take up the same space as Olivia's arms.]]
* ADayInTheLimelight: Alister and Odalys are shown working for Andrias and experimenting on the captured witches from the Boiling Isles in the chapter "Two Worlds, Two Families".
* ADayInTheLimelight: Alister and Odalys are shown working for Andrias and experimenting on the captured witches from the Boiling Isles in the chapter "Two Worlds, Two Families".
* DirtyCoward: Odalys and Alister hid away in a panic room while the toads ransacked the city along with their home. Their butler is also one after running away during the chaos.
* HateSink: A [[RichBitch classist]], [[FantasticRacism racist]] bitch who looks down on anyone who isn't a newt from an elite family and shows little concern for her daughter's safety or happiness, barely reacting when she hears a heron attacked her. What's more, she helped set up Newtopia University's equivalent of student loans, which she explicitly states was made to prevent the middle and lower class students from being able to move up in the world.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: [[spoiler:Odalys though she had all the cards with the shock collar remote and could just use that to subdue Raine, Vincent, and Odalys, only for Lilly to destroy the remote. Then when she threatens to kill Alyssa to force the others to surrender under the assumption she ran out of bile, Alyssa activates a spell circle that results in two barriers cutting off Odalys' arms.]]
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:Even after Vincent begged her to stop her torment to Amity, Odalys continued doing it with a twisted smile.]]
* PsychoticSmirk: Odalys bears one every time [[spoiler:she tortures the witches. It's most highlighted while she's shocking Amity after Vincent tells her to do it.]]
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler:Odalys starts losing her mind after being one-upped by Alyssa, ordering the Frobots to gun down the adult witches and Lilly.]]
* SayingTooMuch: [[spoiler:Odalys begins to mention that Andrias and his army could have a better chance of taking down Emperor Belos if they could get some information out of Amity, forcing Andrias to change the subject so Olivia and Yunan don't learn about her.]]
* SkewedPriorities: When Amara tells her that she lost her tail after being attacked by a heron (one of the most dangerous predators in Amphibia), the newt is more appalled that her daughter walked around tailless in public than the fact that she was almost killed.
* SmugSnake: Just like Odalia, Odalys will do anything if it means she'll reign supreme. [[spoiler:She works with Andrias so her mind can be uploaded into the Core, repeatedly says all species are inferior to newts, and takes any advantage over those who disagree with her claims to come out of a fight triumphant.]]

[[folder:Lord Alister Light]]
!!Lord Alister Light
Amara's father.

----
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the show, Alador is shown to be goofy and hyperfocused on his experiements, leading him to ignore his daughter Amity. He's willing to do better and stands up to Odalia once she revealed to be aiding Belos' genocide plan. Here, he's a willing accomplice of Odalys in aiding Andrias’ invasion of Earth.
* AlternateSelf: He's the newt counterpart of Alador Blight, but more cunning.
* DirtyCoward: Odalys and Alister hid away in a panic room while the toads ransacked the city along with their home. Their butler is also one after running away during the chaos.
* HateSink: Unlike Alador, Alister is equally despicable as his wife Odalys. [[spoiler:They torture the adult witches by injecting syringes into their bile sacs and draining them dry so they can't use their magic, threaten to torture Amity should they step out of line, and laugh at the witchling after forcing her to eat bugs, the only rations they supply.]]
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:Because he sees Amity's similarities to Amara, Alister shows concern when Odalys tortures her and forces his wife to stop.]]
* SmugSnake: Alister condescendingly flaunts his knowledge and tactical mind during his meeting with Uodeela to the point that he casually tells her he knows where she lives due to his sources.
* TheStrategist: Alister figures out all three outcomes for how Uodeela's uprising against the toads will work out and how all of them will fail.

* FantasticRacism: Following the rewrites, Sheresade has a deep grudge against [[spoiler:humans due to Philip Wittebane betraying and nearly murdering her.]] It's subverted after [[spoiler:she meets kinder humans while hiding the Calamity Box on Earth long before his time.]]

[[folder:Raine Whispers]]
!!Raine Whispers

----
* ParentalSubstitute: [[spoiler:They're implied to be becoming one to Sasha as they offer her words of comfort and she felt her mother's warmth in them.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Emperor Belos]]
!!Emperor Belos
Ruler of the Boiling Isles, and the mysterious voice that Sasha's been hearing.

----
* GloryHound: Belos, of course. The bastard is perfectly fine with Andrias' invasion as he believes he can just return to Earth, defeat the mad king, and win humanity's adulation so he can convince them to wipe out witchkind. He clearly doesn't realize or care that the risk of lives lost is far greater from Andrias (not to mention actually possible from him) than the inhabitants of the Boiling Isles.
* AGodAmI: On one instance, he declares himself as a better god than the Guardian as he prefers gods that strike down sinners (which he thinks he's doing) rather than just watching events unfold.
* HateSink: [[AdaptationalJerkass The story emphasizes more on his detestable nature]] than in the show he originated from, evaluating him into this status. [[spoiler:[[EnemyWithin He persuades Sasha]], a 13-year-old child, [[RelationshipSabotage into ruining her friendship with Anne and Luz]] and [[MorethanMindControl uses her personal feelings to push her into committing evil acts]], all for a plan of sending Luz to the Boiling Isles to indirectly help him commit genocide over witches through a StableTimeLoop. When Sasha began shutting him out, he takes possession of her, intending to slaughter Grime and the rest of her comrades just because Maddie and Gustav are magic users, which only ends when Sasha temporarily kills herself.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** For all his talk about protecting humanity, Belos chooses to just ignore the threat Andrias' invasion poses to Earth, putting his agenda of killing off witchkind first.
** Belos haunts Sasha of being rejected by her loved ones, yet [[FinalSolution his entire plan]] is because he's jealous of his brother falling in love with a witch.
* LackOfEmpathy: Belos doesn't care about ruining Sasha's personal relationships with others nor have any feelings when she kills herself to get rid of his possession. He also doesn't care about the people potentially killed or suffered from Andrias' invasion, even though he plans the witches' genocide for saving humanity. His apathy is {{exaggerated}} to the point that the Collector has adopted his mindset.
* MisplacedRetribution: {{Exaggerated}}. While Belos has already planned on his FinalSolution on witches as his brother falls in love with one, he wants to kill witches in Amphibia as well solely because they're magic users.
* RelationshipSabotage: By pushing Sasha further into villainy, he effectively ruins Sasha's friendship with Luz and Anne.
* ShipperWithAnAgenda: PlayedForHorror. [[spoiler:Belos wanted Sasha to join him as a soldier in order to set up her and Hunter, believing that Caleb's betrayal (and that of every other grimwalker) stems from his brother "being bewitched into falling in love with a witch".]]
* VillainHasAPoint: In the first dream, Sasha accuses Belos of making her taint her friendship with Anne, Marcy, and Luz, he then points out that all he did was make the suggestions. She later admits that he was right, and that her actions were hers.

[[folder:Amity Blight]]
!!Amity Blight
A young witchling who was kidnapped by a Cloak-Bot to be examined by Andrias. She is the only child among the prisoners.
----
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: [[spoiler:Amity gets this right off her debut: she's kidnapped and imprisoned by the Amphibian counterparts of her parents and treated like a science experiment, is given electric shocks as punishment should she or the other captured witches not comply with demands, and she has to repeatedly endure the other witches being tortured as Odalys and Alister drain them of their magic bile by injecting needles into their chests. Worse, she ends up getting possessed by the Core alongside Marcy.]]
* CommonalityConnection: She starts to bond with Marcy upon learning they both like the ''Good Witch Azura''.
* DemonicPossession: The Core possesses Amity at the exact same time as Marcy so it can have two host bodies, one with access to magic.
* InstantExpert: Like Marcy, Amity quickly masters the entire ruleset of flipwart after being forced to memorize the rules in a few days. As such, she defeats Alister in their match.
* {{Irony}}: She's tortured by the Amphibian counterparts of her AbusiveParents and befriends Willow's counterpart Lilly.
* ShipTease: After Amity starts bonding with Marcy, she shows signs of developing a crush on her.

[[folder:Alyssa and Vincent Farmer]]
!!Alyssa and Vincent Farmer
A witch couple and parents who ally with Raine in order to escape Andrias' imprisonment and save Amity.

----
* AlternateSelf: They're the witch counterparts of Sprig and Polly's parents, Anura and Victor.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Vincent tries to [[InvokedTrope invoke this trope]] by telling Odalys to hurt Amity as the Blights tried to force his father-in-law to sell his farm to them. Amity is obviously hurt by this comment. However, when Odalys goes through it, Vincent doesn't have any satisfaction at all and begs her to stop.
